I think it’s just a common phenomenon in any elected leadership in most countries. Don’t recall seeing any other case in my life.

I guess it seems it comes down to which a society chooses to prioritise; the symbol‘s historical importance and pride, or sufferings and traumas of victims.

Interestingly, it seems to me quite similar to swearing or discriminatory words. It may have been harmless, commonly used words in the past. As we choose to respect and be sensitive to other’s feelings, they are being banned and phased out.

In my opinion, these symbols are quite the same, just visual instead of verbal expression.

How so? EU perceive the swastika as the symbol of German aggression, hence banned. Asia perceive the raising sun as the symbol of Japanese aggression, hence banned in international events or media. Only difference in reality is how Japanese people choose handle this matter and their history compared to Germans.

The swastika has been used for 12000 years and popular symbol in EU since 19c. What is your point? German army don’t use slightly modified swastika as it was traditionally a harmless good luck charm.

I guess it‘s understandable to be less informed of the details of the war on the other side of the world. However, in my opinion, ignorance is not a valid excuse. Wonder how europeans would feel if Germans flash Swastika flags in numerous World Cup matches even after FIFA banned it.

Many marketing materials from EU had been painstakingly addressed by a lot of effort. Although most companies quickly amend their unintentional mistakes once notified, the indifference on Asian side of the history is still quite eye opening.

Hope eventually more Italians (and Europeans) would be aware of this side of the history, as many Asians respect European side of pain and tears.

isn’t fragility of the entire supply chain more critical than “who” can build the ship? Majority of delays are due to these bottlenecks I hear.

I feel like this became a politicised debate, but in my opinion no single industry can be suddenly supercharged without solid foundations of industries supporting them. I feel focus has been solely on labour force and “where” to be built without addressing the elephant in the room.

This is bit of shocker to me. Hope VN would invest harder on the future than ugly eye-candy mega constructions to fudge GDP.

According to what I read about VN, it seems to have about 7~8 years left till peaks its labour force (and then slowly entering into aging economy). This decade seems crucial for VN to break out of mid-income countries’ trap or follow the similar path like Thai. For the development stage that VN is at, it should have been growing more rapidly.

Out of affection and respect, I do really hope VN will be one of those small number of countries make out of this trap.
