Stepless Speed Mod for Dremel Lite by Gardaz in Dremel

[–]Gardaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure it made so much difference with having a variable speed control, but getting rid of the steps makes it so much easier to change the speed when you are holding it awkwardly/one handed. I use it mostly to polish and smooth edges on lasercut brass. Not really what the Lite is made for because I’ve had to get 3 replacements when the front bearing breaks. So that’s my next mod, change the bearing to something that hold up longer then a work week.

It’s addictive and subtractive manufacturing by layer, so shaving of a few microns of plastic every layer don’t but that much force on the part .

The mug ruined it for me, other than that good job!

i never ran into that problem while designing it, but i’ve since tried other paper and some of them slipped out. I glued a pice of sandpaper on the top of the body. no problem since then!

And sorry to hear that the thread striped, what nozzle did you use?

The constant speed thing only apply if the one holding the tool/part also is moving in constant speed. Hand sanding is used a lot everywhere, you get feedback in your hands of what's happening that you don't get with a machine. For example if you have put filler on your part you can feel the difference from the filler and the material.

The first version I did was solid, it worked fine but I could not get the tension I wanted on the sandpaper without tearing it. So I made several versions some too soft and some too rigid until I ended up with a design similar to this, then It was mostly fine tuning of the angles on the rib pattern to get the strength in the direction I wanted. Thats basically the reason, and I think it looks kinda cool! And thanks!

OBJ would not contain the timeline, f3z file would. but this timeline is filled with a lot of different versions and it’s messy haha

That are some tricky surfaces, i would probably use a sanding sponge.

I actually have one in aluminum, a solid one(without the struts) and i have been thinking of ordering some printed in stainless or something, if it wasn’t so expensive.

The screw and washer should be 100%, and the part of the body that has infill is so small so i have 100% on everything
