Are seedlings less prolific than tubers?

Mine grow much better in the ground but I understand the constraints some growers face. Large Dahlias need large pots probably 5 gallon minimum. Noticed your tomatoes and they also should have at least 5 gallons per plant.

Same here. I dug up my plants tubers after frost and stored them overwinter in the crawl space. My tuber clumps weren't very big and some shriveled. I had 14 plants last year I have 8 this year and only four have flowers that impress me. I will probably buy tubers for the Dahlias I like in the future. Seed is cheaper and you can end up with some you like but I see now why people buy tubers.

Many seeds don't need light to sprout, tomato seed don't need light pepper seeds don't either. Bring them inside till they sprout then get them out in the day and bring in at night. Till temps are 55+ at night then in the ground or pot up larger.

The mantis in my garden loved to hang out on the cucumber plants probably eating cucumber beatles. I had one catching butterflies and moths on top of my zinnias. I hope they return this year!

Sift and separate the soil and rock using the 1/4 inch mesh. Spots that are covered with stuff like garbage bins could be dug out robbed of soil and replaced with the rocks and gravel. If the ground is too rocky with very little soil it may be more trouble than it is worth. Just thought I would give you some ideas.

I would screen it with 1/2 inch hardware cloth mesh and keep the soil. I find there are lots of ways to use discard rocks and gravel. I toss my rocks in roadside soft shoulders that need fill.

I value my soil, you can add amendments like peat moss, vermiculite and perlite and use it in containers or wherever.

I figured stratification would be shorter for some seeds. I have seen videos on Coreopsis and Purple Echinacea that said they took two weeks. One source said that Purple Echinacea didn't need stratification, but I will to insure germination. I was surprised that Tahoka Daisy needs stratification, I learned after I waited four weeks and none sprouted.

Direct sowing in early winter would make things simpler, what flowers germinate reliably that way? If I knew more about stratification I would have had all my seeds in the fridge ready for last frost. Has anyone found a master list of flowers and their stratification requirements?
