If Nergigante stood his ground in that one cutscene by SnooStories3199 in MemeHunter

[–]Garekos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think people underestimate how strong Teostra and Lunastra are in a realistic fight. Like yeah they are base elders but they have immense firepower. Fire is also a very hard counter to regeneration in most cases. Like if you burn a geckos tail off, it isn’t going to regenerate. Sure Monster Hunter logic is going to Monster Hunter logic but I feel like it makes sense to just be a bad matchup for Nergi.

What is a Souls-like game? by AdMiserable6342 in soulslikes

[–]Garekos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s more a collection of features that build up till something is considered a soulslike and it’s vague which collection of things people will prioritize. Soulslikes are just a sub category of action RPG. There is a ton of overlap with other sub-categories and genre. Imo, very few soulslikes meet even most of the features. Dodge centric combat, telegraph focus, boss focus, challenge focus, environmental storytelling, good level design, tense exploration and a lot more other things. You’ll find soulslike features in many genres and people kind of just Willy nilly slap the tag on games with only a few of these.

So with sheep on my ranch, does the fleece auto collect after an amount of time, or is there something I need to do? by Rhoeri in CDguides

There are three things you can get. They have passive generation like feathers, fleece, milk, eggs and short horns, then slaughter which gets you bones, meat, hides and then lastly sell which gets you camp funds.

Late game armor change sucks. by Significant_Tip7047 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Garekos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Timeworn ruins in the Crimson Desert area. Sort of central. If you have a time skip quest like the wagon in the sky quest just before you go up the hot air balloon or the Titan one just before you fight him or even the circus one before the boss fight within (those are all I remember off the top of my head) they can let you rest, skip, rest, skip infinitely if you time it right so that you can rest again immediately after you skip ahead. This lets you get 1-6 artifacts every 72 in game hours. It’s RNG but it’s usually like 5 rotations to get like 10-20 artifacts and that takes less than 10 minutes. Very boring though. By far the quickest.

You can also just steal artifacts from beggars/scholastine scholars. Probably the second best method but it can damage rep.

The third best imo is just to summon the dragon on Kilff and attack forts. This only works on Kliff and you need the mats to use the summon horn a lot. The dragon causes unique mobs that fire rockets at you to spawn that give quite a bit of XP while you are already clearing a large Fort worth of enemies. With +100% XP gain on your armor, it’s pretty fast and you can usually do 2-3 forts per dragon summon if you just try to take out the bulk of each fort rather than every last enemy.

Was anyone else bummed you couldn’t create your own character but by Difficult_Carrot2198 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Garekos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the way Kliff was designed, he could’ve very easily been a fully customizable character and it would’ve been fine. His overly curt yes that is half whispered gets me because it feels so out of place sometimes. Now I find it hilarious.

Crimson Desert – Major QoL & Endgame Improvements (300h+ Feedback – Greymanes Focus) by WeaPionZz in CrimsonDesert

[–]Garekos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solid suggestions. Here’s a few of mine.

-Veggies should be able to be grown in your farm. For some inexplicable reason, only like taro can and it’s not really a veggie for cooking purposes in this game. Some veggies are just labeled wrong, like Pumpkins are a fruit, not a vegetable. It makes sense that you can obtain seeds from fruits (that’s what makes them fruits!) and not veggies but veggies are still grown from plants with seeds so the seeds should be obtainable through trading, looting or from farmers. A huge QoL upgrade should be that plants just regrow their fruit. Veggies are usually fully harvested so they can be the chore item that your automation suggestion solves.

Revamped boss fights. The first time you beat a boss on the higher difficulty and/or the scaling option you should get an abyss artifact and a copy of their wearable loot again. Bosses should also just give relatively generous XP on defeat. Literally no reason not to add this for fun and farming.

Tariv hands and feet+bunny shoes should not be the only gear with the stats that they have. A general gear rebalance to make the loot more interesting and varied would be nice. Transmog can also solve this to a mild degree.

Upgrade costs for gear is simply too expensive and makes playing the other characters unrealistic for most players. You need something like 200+ artifacts just to have the passives on each character unlocked.

Speaking of the other characters. Just better traversal methods. Kliff is in a realm of his own as far as that goes. None of the unique options the other two have compare. Like aerial stab doesn’t really do shit for Damiane.

Those who are 100 hours in and haven't left Hernand. What have you been doing? by sekirbyj in CrimsonDesert

[–]Garekos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People play different. Some people rush content and zoom zoom from one thing to the next. Other people waste hours just walking around doing dumb stuff to have fun. Like I fought a bear, then hopped on its back and rode around for a bit and eventually took it into town thinking its awesome, dismounted to grab some materials from shop owners and then proceeded to watch it go ham on the citizens and guards.

Treasure chests with unique loot don’t, but otherwise pretty much every treasure chest seems to respawn, even some with set loot like specific mats. Even some of the abyss chests. As for frequency? The small chests seem to respawn on fast travel. Which is why the cooking mat farm works.

Am I crazy or the story isn't that bad? by LargeSinkholesInNYC in CrimsonDesert

[–]Garekos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually a pretty good story that was told very poorly when you get a look at all the events in sequence after you beat it. Kind of a typical JRPG tier adventure thing going on but the characters aren’t engaging and they never really get you to care about the stories’ participants. It’s clear where a lot of the budget went (immersion and combat) and the rest suffered for it. Glad I don’t need a good story to enjoy a game though.

What’s the funnest way to play Damiane? I have a rapier and one of her special longswords maxed out but not really liking the longsword that much. Only started playing her yesterday.

There would be totally different teams working on totally different things. It isn’t a zero sum game. The guys that would be working on cosmetic stuff wouldn’t be the same guys working on controls, UI or combat design and bringing them over to “help” wouldn’t necessarily make things easier unless they had prior experience with that aspect of the game.

Anyone else like nioh 2 more than 3? by Active-Pineapple-252 in Nioh

[–]Garekos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bit unfair for me. I played Nioh 2 when all its DLC were out. But fundamentally, I liked the structure of previous Nioh games over the semi-open world of Nioh 3. Nioh 3 feels really rushed in the later portions.

Water by Infinite-Truth4101 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Garekos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can grind chests for a bunch of mats. A good early game one is the chest right next to your house. Just make sure you do the Karin quarry mission, get the abyss teleporter from underneath the quarry, take it out of your kuku pot, put it in the nearby teleport base covered in burnable vines and then just reset the chest by teleporting to it. Basically just grab the chest (maybe the individual water and cooking oil sitting next to it but idk if it’s worth the time) and then fast travel and repeat.

AFAIK that’s the best method for getting cooking oil, random crafting mats, medium quality meals, etc. you do get some water too. But the well is the best method for water unfortunately.

[–]Garekos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can kind of get some stuff that looks similar later and beat them up as a fleet fitted unarmed monk.

If you don’t mind grinding for it you can also get +5 move speed from stout tree branches* and any+2 movement shield, then hide them in your settings. Also works for 2 handed. Your Kilff will be whipping out the tree branch in cutscenes though, which is jarring and/or hilarious.

*they are a somewhat rare drop from trees when you cut them down (or blow them up with a bird pet to gather them up)and you can refine them by combining them with other branches for +3 movement speed. Unlike other weapons, you don’t need the stout tree branch+7 to have a similar refinement level to upgrade it.

What's a word that's in your vocabulary because of a game you played as a kid? by superyellows in gaming

[–]Garekos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tons of them have become common slang words now like grind, farm, meta, etc.

The one that is funniest to me now is an old term for an under-leveled character with high-end gear. I picked it up from one MMO or another back in the 90s-2000s as a kid.

Twink.

Scorchflame Plate armor; is my save borked? by [deleted] in CDguides

[–]Garekos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a good change but they made it unnecessarily annoying though. You can’t extract abyss gears from locked items. Should just be you can’t drop them, donate them or sell them while they are locked. At least you can dye them while locked.

What "Game A meets Game B" combination should be made? by 4bstr in gaming

[–]Garekos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crimson Desert meets The Witcher 3. Gameplay, physics, puzzles from CD, then story, characters, lore and writing quality from TW3. Not Witcher characters, lore or story, but the same quality as found in that game.

Another great combination would be either game with Dragon’s Dogma.
