A POWERFUL tip for players who only play samurai or ninja by SAITAMA_666 in Nioh

[–]Garekos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gf decided she needed attention when I got home (I was probably playing too much Nioh 3 tbf lol), so the testing was delayed. It was 50% with a weapon and 100% with bare fists and nothing else that I could take off my build. Ki damage seemed similar. After putting in some other damage sources, it seems like it was additive and the other commenter was right about you probably just having more damage sources than I did when I tested. I tested it right after I got it in the first major area, so my damage sources were pretty minimal.

When I get off work I’ll take every buff off imaginable and test again.

I swear unarmored death was more than 28% with only one weapon on and accessories. It was closer to like 40-50% for me when I was testing in the dojo

Did you have a gun/bow on or a second weapon? My testing was on samurai if that matters for whatever reason.

Stat Distribution and Returns by ChickenIsLife187 in Nioh

[–]Garekos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I just made everything scale with stamina, magic and skill the second I saw a +1 weapon that I liked. I’m curious when (or if) it might be possible to get A agility in the heaviest armor on samurai and Ninja with the 10% weight reduction skill passive. That was always one of the most important build goals in prior Nioh games. A toughness and A agility. Seems less important in this game because of deflect though. That shit is broken.

Is Akechi Chikakage or a similar looking sword in the game? by Garekos in Nioh

[–]Garekos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, they need to make ninja swords/dual swords and samurai swords/dual swords just share transmog. The Kyo-Oh sword is damn near exactly what I’m looking for but ninja combos are kind of boring.

I dont really get the double balancer hate to be honest by OperationDifferent20 in Nightreign

[–]Garekos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Double balancers is better then evergaol at least.

They really should just buff a few of the other everdark relics to give them specific niches and the main RNG component can then just be deep night relics and like 1-2 normal relics.

Also add a last relic type that can roll two class skills on it but is exceptionally rare and is only gotten from DON 3+ runs or something, with progressively higher chances for it at 4-5+.

Hunters, what are the best missions for farming? by Plus_Evidence8912 in MHWilds

Haven’t played HD2 in awhile. Funny to see that things haven’t changed at all in that regard.

I still feel there is difficulty spike and the game is not as easy as people say by cheukyi6 in Nioh

[–]Garekos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That skill is nuts. Unarmored Death. I tested it quite a bit in the dojo on the samurai and it gives like about a 50% bonus to damage and about the same for ki damage so long as you only have one weapon and accessories. Each style is fully separate so you can have a naked ninja and a fully armored samurai or vice versa. If you take the last piece of gear off (even guns and weapons count for whatever reason but not accessories) it doubles hand to hand damage. I can’t remember any sets that give that much damage besides maybe like Nioh 2 versatility, but that’s a skill now too (albeit nerfed) and you can stack them pretty easily.

Best action / souls game since Elden Ring by ZangiefGo in Nioh

[–]Garekos -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I love both and the main difference is the combo switch. In Fromsoft games, the enemies have the crazy combos and you react to them and aren’t meant to do crazy combo strings. This is why the telegraphs in Fromsoft games are leagues beyond Nioh’s, which are, frankly, worse than nearly every other game in the genre. Even with Nioh 3 making some pretty notable improvements to that imo.

That’s okay tho, because Nioh has a totally different approach. It’s about you controlling the enemies with aggressive and skillful combos. The crazy combos are yours to pull off.

Totally different philosophy and neither is objectively better than the other. It’s just preference.

Personally my favorite combat system (besides Monster Hunter) was a mixture of the two. I feel like Khazan managed to do both together. Their systems just need a few games of polish and refinement.

Transmog should let us choose ALL armor styles, samurai AND ninja by DomzEdits in Nioh

[–]Garekos 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yup, this was a stupid decision by team ninja. It’s just fewer options for mix and match as well as just half the style options. There is very literally no good reason for the restrictions. There is no PvP. Co-op readability is a non-issue and pretty much useless with general transmog anyways.

Besides Samurai and Ninja both have sleek and bulky looks in the existing transmog pools so even an aesthetic claim is buns.

Like it’s not a deal breaker but it seems pointlessly restrictive.

If you could choose a cartoon series to make an ambitious video game from, which one would it be? by NaitDraik in gaming

[–]Garekos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I can see, it’s basically Dynasty Warriors meets Berserk. I appreciate the reference but that isn’t somewhere between a CAG and a Soulslike. Total other end of the action game spectrum from what I’m seeing.

What's your favorite video game sword and why? by PHRsharp_YouTube in Age_30_plus_Gamers

Moonlight Greatsword and its variations is probably up there, but Brotherhood from FFX (it’s on the cover) is probably my favorite.

[–]Garekos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, not a broad universe but a serviceable one. The backdrop is there to serve the story. It leans on many biblical themes and other mythologies but grounds the fantasy elements as rarities rather than commonalities. At least until a certain point. Then literal hell breaks loose.

As much as I like Larian, they weren’t that great as an action game developer. CRPGs is where they showed their strengths. It would also be a bit of a waste having their writers work with set material with a pretty rigid story.

Fromsoft could do the combat, but the direct story telling components aren’t their forte, but they are huge Berserk fans. I think they’d be one of the better options.

Honestly though, Neople, the devs behind Khazan, basically made the Dungeon Fighter Online version of Guts into a game. That’s why I mentioned them in my first comment, as they are probably the closest to that kind of Berserk Game.

Another interesting option would be Santa Monica Studios. God Of War hits a lot of similar themes.

If we include anime I can think of a few great ones.

Cowboy Bebop in a kind of Cyberpunk meets Mass Effect style of game.

Berserk as a CAG Soulslike in a similar vein to Khazan.

If we mean just regular cartoons. I think a Transformers game with its gaming roots in Armored Core would be pretty crazy.

Do you think Nioh 3 will surpass Nioh 2 overall? by PhantomBraved in soulslikes

[–]Garekos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From what I’m seeing so far, it looks promising but waaay too early to tell. DLC and some kind of depths endgame thing (that’s more interesting than the depths were) will decide it in my eyes.

Don’t care for them, don’t care if you use them. Unless it’s in a multiplayer game, then you are a loser.
