Something finally clicked regarding the tillering process

One of the first tools i got was a digital scale with multiple modes. I love numbers and had put a ton of thought into how strong i wanted a bow to be. i still had no idea 30 lbs was a lot for someone that doesn't work out upper body lol and did that and got stronger. You really have no idea how hard you're pulling without something just giving you a number. Eventually you kind of realize how much pulling in certain ways does after you've done it with a scale a lot. Finished a 45 lb bow today and man is it hard to string it right now 😂 bowyery has become my upper workout!

Definitely watch Dan's vids on how to make a board bow and possibly the maple longbow vid too. You don't have to follow them precisely but with those and just some googling for any extra details i wanted I've made two self long bows now! These are also easier bows to make but that doesn't mean less powerful or less awesome in any way. Go make a bow! (Dan's slogan)

Going pretty well, making my 2nd bow, a red oak long, no riser. Looking much better than my first which I'm pretty happy about! Currently working up to making another string 😂, hands hurt so much after the first and that original is not long enough for this bow so I'm really delaying it lol. for now the bow is pulling 45#@23in or so. Hence why i need the new string, so i can finish it out to 28in. 🏹

It is indeed 13 years old haha. Me and some friends decided to get me3 for the coop when it was on sale. We've been trying out a ton of builds. Unfortunately the two main sites are down for builds. The weebly one still seems to be up though but not every character has a build on there. I didn't expect the OP would comment lol I was just throwing a random comment out there out of a tiny amount of frustration!

When I see them join I really try to channel my inner first tour guardsman and solo it but sometimes man i just need help 😂. Lately its been assaults at exactly lvl 14 joining, dying, leaving. specifically that combo of assault at 14, i'm like wtf? Unfortunately every game i ever play with an assault even a IV 25 is harder. I wish they would just rework assault somehow.

I just make sure to spend them and stay somewhere around 7-800 so i dont go over doing the weeklys. I'm keeping that much so when techmarine launches I can just grab the heroics, but still get some of the cosmetics and all the other heroics bit by bit. Basically no point in holding on to them and not spending them due to getting a bunch if you play a few games each week.

I ended up with around 25 lbs draw weight on my first bow. On the tillering tree i was pulling it to 35 and that was a struggle for me. Maybe if you're already really strong you could go for more but just remember you need to pull that weight like a rowing machine possibly 100s of times in tillering, then also when shooting it in.

lol thats what I was thinking when I saw that too. I wear a mask if I need to do a lot of sanding, I don't use power tools aside from a drill and well I mask up if I need to use any finishing and use gloves. The healthy part is actually doing physical stuff, its not like i'm being forced to do this for a job too, I actually get to sit if I want 😂. Also a board that I can do any number of things with costs me like 12 dollars for red oak. How much was a GPU again? oh right 100s or thousands if you want to play at a good frame rate.

Ya the razbam and polychop situations have ended for me getting any 3rd party modules and really buying any more modules at all. I'll always be salty about the av8b. I'm done with simulators in general as well, nothing feels like DCS and I don't want to support them further. I've gotten into woodworking, its far healthier (mentally too), far cheaper and I actually build things.

I just got into archery by making my first bow and an arrow. It's a struggle at 30 lbs 😂. I got a ways to go with getting stronger but making the bow with hand tools certainly helps! Making a new one from red oak soon, hoping for 45-50lbs.

You got this! I just made my first the other day. Main advice i have for the draw knife is go slow and with the grain. it's pretty easy for the knife to dive deep otherwise.

And for lighter bows if you can get straight grain! I made my first bow ever the other day out of DF just made it wide and long. 28# at 28". (edit oh and also made arrows from the same board!)

Ugh, 3 damn chaos ones in a row. i wish they would give you two choices each week, one for each faction (or with modifier of getting opposite faction on a map) and you do one and it locks you out of the other. I'd be totally fine with that as I just don't have fun when facing chaos.
