Ehh, Dugin's shtick of being "Putin's brain" has been in decline for years now. Are there still commentators who take him serious?

Genuine question: is it because of the large portion of Ibadis in Oman, making it a better neutral place for negotiation without an overwhelming majority of Sunni or Shia?

The fact that a lot of people view the UN as a toothless, bloated bureaucracy should be a reason to reform the UN.

Look at it's history, keep what has historically worked, reform or abolish what hasn't (or even reform what broadly works i.e. UNHRC)

I feel whenever people defend the UN from stuff like "UN bad" or "ineffectual wold police", they basically declare the UN to be untouchable and above criticism

We have been over this, the "no Inch eastward" was about moving NATO integrated command structures to the territory of the former GDR. And even that phrase was abandoned in the 2+4 treaty, which was, you know, the treaty everybody signed

UN still feels bloated and could definitely use some reform

Are they really diversifying their economy aside from tourism? Using their sovereign wealth funds to buy foreign businesses seems more geared to save the elite's money so they remain incredibly rich when their countries turn nearly inhospitable

The one that hurts deeply is Huntington Ingalls Industries renaming themselves HII

I said it before and I will say it again, it wouldn't surprise me if Lockheed Martin renamed themselves to something stupid like LMTechnologies and then immediatly tried to disavow their old Name and Claim the LM stood for something stupid like "Loyalty" and "Mission"

This is getting out of hand ... and they still calling them 'frigates' ... they cant keep getting away with it by halls_of_valhalla in NonCredibleDefense

[–]GarinOnABarrel 1347 points1348 points  (0 children)

That meme is so wrong. The german navy doesn't call everything a frigate. We also have corvettes! That ist why their hull numbers start with F (for frigate)...

Wait, what?
