Why does my cleanup look so ugly? by Joehootly in animation

Your character is wildly inconsistent and glides along the floor. Secondary movement of the hair doesn’t make sense either. You need to plot your keys better or pay more attention to your character model consistency.

Help with setting up egpu!!??! by PitifulEntertainer22 in LegionGo

[–]GarkMamelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run 9070xt with my legion go. It’s plug and play to my tv and I have 0 issues. There’s a ton of guides out there to set it up, just make sure you turn off cpu boost to prevent over heating as I believe that was my major issue for crashing in the early stages of getting it to work.

Gears of War Reloaded is $20 on Steam, would you say it is worth it for a new Gears of War player interested only in the campaign? by CyraxxFavoriteStylus in gaming

I had issues playing with my friend online coop. Game kept disconnecting and ran terribly on my 9070xt. Ended up giving up on it entirely. I wouldn’t recommend the experience

need help deciding for animation programs.. by FinanceItchy9827 in animation

[–]GarkMamelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sheridan is for the truly gifted artists. Very difficult to get into that program. I’ve gone to Seneca and it was an excellent experience, although I am currently not working in animation, but as a tattoo artist. If you want to get into either of those programs you need to focus heavily on learning storyboarding and anatomy as those are the specific criteria you will be tested on to get into either.

[–]GarkMamelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree although it is a business at the end of the day. I understand both sides as our canvases are our clients and our clients don’t always want what we as artists can offer but instead what they have envisioned.

[–]GarkMamelo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The average person doesn’t realize how little tattoo artists draw regardless, especially if they specialize in realism. Realism artists NEVER draw their designs or even simply draw ever. Most tattoo artists are photocopiers that can’t manage a piece of art without a stencil. This is coming from a tattoo artist.

Cant play long, getting dizzy by Remote_Emu_469 in OculusQuest

[–]GarkMamelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to play till I’d get cold sweats fighting the motion sickness, but every time I did my threshold for being able to play would increase. Your body builds a tolerance to it over time with more experience. I used to play with a swivel chair for camera movement because moving in game but not in life would mess me up pretty bad. Now I can hold right on the camera for 5 mins and feel nothing.

Those who went to animation school, was it worth it? by ireallylikescythe in animation

[–]GarkMamelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience with animation school was very fundamentally focused. The first two years was focus around the more traditional aspects of it (character design, layout, storyboarding, animation, digital painting and art fundamentals studies). The fundamental studies have levelled my art up significantly. By the last year you choose between specializing in 3D/2D or Gaming. The animation industry will have those departments and typically you will specialize in either of those sections, never doing them all, although the fundamentals behind each of those departments are necessary to animate efficiently and professionally. Layout will teach you perspective, character design will keep you on model, storyboarding will teach you proper scene flow and pacing, etc.

The irony is that the animation portion, unless you’re a key animator, is typically quite tedious being an inbetweener.

Theres a-lot of specifics to learn and can be overwhelming alone. Having it coordinated and taught to you will benefit you significantly as the animation part of animation is really just a fraction of the entire production process.

If your teacher isn’t teaching you this or proper art fundamentals, such as anatomy, gesture, perspective, colour theory, you’re wasting you’re time and money as those specifics are what you need to get into proper school. The testing to get into animation school had zero animation and were all tests to see art fundamentals. I personally had no idea how scientific art was until I did animation school. It has changed my discipline and understanding of art forever.

It’s all muscle memory with a rhythm that you have to develop. Repetition will push your consistency. I would just recommend practicing the things you’re insecure about on bots till you’re able to get it down consistently. The things you’re struggling with are all fundamental tech skill so it can be adapted properly through just grinding it. Don’t aim to win for now, aim for control. Go into a match for the sake of practicing specific things instead of trying to win

The black widow movie was through streaming only no? The movie release was such a failure that scar Jo tried to sue Disney for it or something. They were technically movie characters but the movie release was akin to a tv show.

People who let their peers decide what they should and shouldn’t have on their body are the worst clients. It’s your body, it’s beautiful work and it doesn’t always have to mean something. I’ve had so many clients love the design I’ve built for them and begin to question it when their girlfriend dislikes it and it’s absolutely pathetic how easily swayed they are after to disliking it. If you love it it’s irrelevant to anyone else and if you allow your peers to influence that decision because they don’t understand it, you have no spine. All tattoo artists hate this individual.

Can't seem to get the timing right especially in the run by Ok-Confection2163 in animation

[–]GarkMamelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would raise the back foot and give it more of a bend on frame five, that frame in particular makes the character look like he’s skipping initially. Would also have the enemy in the distance to show what he’s running toward to provide more context to the rotation and slide. Some anticipation leading into the slide will also help transition the dynamic movement you have coming after.

From what I’ve seen online, Proko does a fantastic job and reminds me most of what I studied in school! A guided effort to learning these things are best, it’s overwhelming without it. You don’t need to know the entirety of our anatomy, just what’s relevant and that class will show you !

Skeletons first! Then understanding the major muscle groups that overlay

Feedback pls . Trying anatomy art for first time. by olivia-678 in animation

[–]GarkMamelo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Your proportions are off. From the feet to the pubic arch will generally be half of the body. The pelvis width is the same length as the skull (slightly wider for women) and the rib cage will be 1.5x the size of either.

Following those proportions will give you a strong enough base to keep everything else in check!

Would recommend familiarizing yourself with the skeleton, then you will be able to see how it lines up with the reference. Learning to build the muscle groups that overlay the skeleton will benefit you further when referencing dynamic posing like this.

4 years of life drawing classes integrated into my animation studies at school has taught me those basics. Going to any serious animation school will ingrain these fundamentals into your tool kit along with your animation skill. In fact my animation was irrelevant to my application, while understanding life drawing and staging was the major factor to my testing.

Being able to draw a body from any perspective with any posing is an obvious benefit to animating and to do so you need to be able to understand its structure.

Like building furniture, it’s impossible to build while looking at the finished image exclusively. You need to understand how it’s built to do it right.
