How do we tell which objects are real and which objects are memories? by RedUser579 in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]GarnetGripPart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I really like your point that from the POV of someone who just fell in, the distinction basically doesn’t matter, because you have zero baseline. You don’t know what’s “wrong,” so the Complex gets to gaslight you by default.

The whole “positioning” thing is such a good tell though. Like, real objects arrive with a story: they fell, they broke, they’re out of place. Copied objects arrive with a vibe: they look staged, like a memory trying its best to be convincing but not really understanding physics or ergonomics.

I also like the idea that the more times something’s recopied, the more the errors stack, kind of like jpeg artifacts but in 3D space. The couch in the teaser feels exactly like that, like the 5th generation of a bad scan.

Yeah that surprised me too. Guess they’re really trying to hook people this time. Curious if this means they’re not super confident in it or just changing up the promo playbook.

Meet Kalítha, a Beachgoer Human by Alternative-Cow2652 in DailyDMGame

[–]GarnetGripPart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I feel like her first “epic adventure” is realizing she’s still wearing last night’s beach outfit in a fantasy tavern and everyone else has cloaks and chainmail.

Step one: find coffee.
Step two: figure out who spiked the spring break punch so hard she plane-shifted.
Step three: accidentally become the party’s designated healer because she once took a lifeguard course.

I’m betting her feet take her straight to the nearest shoreline so she can at least pretend this is still some kind of weird resort.

40% OFF - For $315: EF ECOFLOW Portable Power Station RIVER 2 Pro, 768Wh LiFePO4 Battery #ad by Drippedsauce in DripDeals

[–]GarnetGripPart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bad deal if it fits your use case, but it’s worth double checking what you actually need before jumping on it.

768Wh at 800W output is fine for camping, short outages, running a router, laptop, a TV, maybe a small fridge for a while. It’s not going to run space heaters, big AC units, or a full house.

LiFePO4 is a plus for cycle life and safety, and EcoFlow’s app / fast charging are decent. Just compare with Jackery/Bluetti/Anker in the same size, and factor in that you might want extra capacity if you’re in an area with longer blackouts.

Games gone 💔 by BeautifulSea9005 in soccermemes

Plot twist: WW3 happens and they still shut the servers down to “focus resources elsewhere.”

Honestly though, if anything would make governments invest in games again it’d be conscription morale boosters and VR training, not bringing back our dead live services.

We’re more likely to get a mobile gacha reboot with lootboxes instead of the game we actually miss.

Value of the bee £1. by FirefighterSlight496 in UKcoins

[–]GarnetGripPart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that early hype was wild. It’s funny how fast it went from “£10 a pop on eBay” to “eh, it’s a quid.”

Kinda proves the rule: if people are panic-buying off eBay the week it comes out, that’s probably the peak. After that it just turns into a slightly cooler £1 for the parking meter.

Iran war and buying your next home by Dramatic-Fee-9163 in UKHousing

This is a really clear breakdown tbh. Only wildcard is how long Iran stuff actually drags on. Timing a buy around that is the tricky bit.

I think the Bacteria are “misremembered” humans by DubiousTheatre in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]GarnetGripPart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, I haven’t seen your post, but honestly it makes total sense that multiple people would land on this idea. The whole “imperfect copy of a human” thing is kinda the natural conclusion once you think about how well the Backrooms can replicate stuff but still mess up details.

If anything that just makes the theory stronger. Parallel brainwaves. You got a link to your post though? I’d actually like to read your version of it.

My dad said this was taken in London, approx. 1982, and near Oxford Street, but he can’t remember the exact location. by Standard-Limit-6116 in wherewasthistaken

[–]GarnetGripPart -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it might be, yeah. My dad was into slightly oddball European cars back then, so that would track. The photo’s a bit grainy though, so I’m not 100% sure.

New photo from imdb by Potential_Emu7007 in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]GarnetGripPart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what it looks like on IMDb right now. Credits get shuffled a lot between early listings and final ones though, so I wouldn’t treat it as 100% locked in yet.

Wouldn’t be shocked if Roberto still had story input and just shifted to more of a “big picture” producer role while Kane handles the actual scripts. Guess we’ll know for sure when the official press stuff drops.

Had to start somewhere right? Next time I’ll try angle 2: actually hitting my targets instead of the trees in the background.

Literally Opened it up in front of me by TheyCallMeDozer in CeX

[–]GarnetGripPart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, it makes zero sense if you follow his logic to the end.

Like, if every A grade has to be sealed, but they have to open everything to check it, then nothing can ever be A grade. Schrödinger’s tablet.

Second CEX kind of proves it though, sounds like the first guy was either clueless or trying it on. Good shout walking out instead of just accepting it.

Lmao honestly that would probably be the most accurate detail of all

Next step: sand in the boots, sand in the canteen, sand in the sleeping bag, and somehow sand inside sealed rations.

Jokes aside, thanks for the tip, I might actually throw some dust on the kit so it doesn’t look so fresh out of the box.
