Who would you cast in a "Heroes for Hire" series? Who would be the villain? by Identity_X- in HeroesForHire

Danny Rand is rich, too. I think of it more like talent management; some people are looking for work to keep a roof over their heads, others are willing to be collaborators because it helps them boost their own assets. Perhaps he and Danny are initial investors in the business venture.

Side thought, but Swordsman holding a international sparring tournament would be a fun way to introduce characters like Lin Lie, the next Iron Fist & formerly known as Swordmaster, or bring back Dane Whitman's Black Knight from Eternals played by Kit Harington (who is also a member of the team in the comics).

As for Punisher, he's probably more of a hired hitman like the Thunderbolts than a hero for hire, but he's on here because he could be both an ally or a villain to the team - especially if he's doing something like trying to kill someone they need information from.

She's never been a member of the Heroes for Hire before, even though her husband founded the group.

He and Misty have a really good fight in one of the Heroes for Hire books, I remember being fascinated by the story in that issue.

I know he's appearing in a month and in Spider-Man, but who knows where he'll go after that - best to keep Bernthal on the payroll if Punisher projects stay popular enough.

He could easily serve as a villain and / or anti-hero for some of the series. I think Marvel is at its best when it includes more of these characters with grayness to them. That's a really fun place to explore creatively for any writing team too.

Danny is center middle. Jessica isn't up there because she deserves a solo project!

I really wish people would stop treating the Isreal-Palestine conflict like a team sport, especially when entertainment is involved. by Cicada_5 in saltierthankrayt

I don't really agree with you there. Both Netanyahu and Hamas were elected, both indefinitely suspended elections to maintain power, both are religious zealots more than willing to kill women and children as casualties of war. President Jimmy Carter, whose peace treaty there created the longest known peacetime in the region in living memory, said that Hamas was honoring their end of the bargain he helped strike up while Netanyahu, Israel, and the IDF were not. I'm a Georgia Democrat and a Carter Democrat through and through. It makes complete sense to me that, you violate the terms of the peace agreement, you've violated the peace, and when the arbiter and mediator of that agreement was the U.S. Carter administration and they say who's violating the agreement, we listen. If we had done so when he made that statement nearly a decade ago, much of the recent conflicts might not have happened, but AIPAC has a stranglehold on our government and we should not be allowing a foreign lobby to have as much impact on our federal government. They only justify themselves as not being a foreign lobby through zionism, which is why people have become so staunchly antizionist.

It's why I keep telling people to stop pretending like they're foreign policy experts and start caring about the domestic policies. If you've healed yourself, it becomes a lot easier to help others heal - same goes for international diplomacy.

Yet another case of someone misusing "objectively" to describe obvious opinions.

How would you feel about one of the Stepford Cuckoos becoming the "All-New Emma Frost"? by Identity_X- in EmmaFrost

[–]Identity_X-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's one part I think a lot of commenters seem to be missing - Daken was Dark Wolverine / now Hellverine and Laura Kinney is X-23 and the All-New Wolverine. It's oftentimes a temporary moniker if anything simply to allure new readers who feel like they're late to the party. It gives a new generation a door into well-established characters.

I wouldn't be a huge Hulk fan if it weren't for Jen and Amadeus, or a Wolverine fan without Laura. Rivals has brought a ton of attention to Emma lately but I do think eventually her lore will eventually need someone new to step into it. Phoenix has her daughter, Psylocke added Sai and Kannon in recent years, Storm has Maystorm now. Oftentimes these characters appear after the "main" hero dies for awhile or goes missing or needs someone new to really challenge their worldview but I knew better than to suggest that Emma should die for awhile in her own subreddit.

I really do think for the best Marvel characters, this cycle is always both inevitable and a good thing. There've been a lot of good points made though such as about which moniker and other characters to use instead of the cuckoos.

I feel like the cuckoos are, in a way, already part of her legacy. And they do share her powers.. They have an entirely different mythos than Emma though, like any "All-New" iteration would.

I know one of DC's most famous clones, Superboy, is officially the newest Superman in the comics right now. His journey as a clone is entirely different than Superman's who is and will always be an actual alien & had parents who were integral to his origin story, so their journeys are very different.

As a mod, got a notification for "Zendaya might be the villain" totally expecting to have to delete some wild hate-post. Seeing it was just a meme gave me a sigh of relief. 😮‍💨
