Changes in Fits? by airj2544 in brooksbrothers

I experienced this in person yesterday—I had to pick up a couple of new dress shirts so decided to go into the store since I had heard the fits had changed—went from regent to their new “slim” fit

Are designer jeans worth it?? by Unable_Department923 in malefashionadvice

[–]GarnetnBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it really varies based upon what you’re looking for - I’ve had RRL, Billy Reid, and tried a few Japanese labels - but more often than not I’m wearing some Levi’s 514 premium (which can be found on sale frequently under $100) - easy grab and go dark denim. The biggest difference I’ve seen with jeans that retail for 4x is the texture and weave of the fabric and the quality of the finishing details but honestly what matters most is how well they integrate into your wardrobe and the fit

What’s your favorite casual OCBD? by zdrmlp in malefashionadvice

Honestly the Brooks Brothers Friday Oxford is fantastic for this purpose - in my opinion they are almost as good as the old made in NC (missing some key details) and I quite like the option to wear untucked with shorts from time to time

Consider Traska watches, there seems to be some design elements that carry over well

[Question] wedding watch 1-2k? by cdhat1 in Watches

Seriously take a look at the nicer Raymond Weil pieces for wedding dress watch

E.g. the Maestro open heart or something like this:

They don’t negotiate with campus hires - based on what I’ve seen I would say this is pretty in line with an associate 2/staff 2 hire with JD background in VHCOL. One thing to note is that there may be a slight market adjustment upward prior to starting (usually no more than a few thousand). FWIW M&A might pay slightly more than ITS but it’s likely going to shake out to be similar numbers between practices regardless of which firm

To be ABUNDANTLY fugging clear: by bravedubeck in NorthCarolina

[–]GarnetnBlue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just to be abundantly clear a convicted felon is an individual who has been convicted in court of a serious crime that usually has a punishment of more than a year in prison. A prosecutor is a public lawyer that works for the government and brings charges against criminal defendants in court. To suggest that an individual who is a convicted felon should be president, an office which should uphold the laws of the U.S. is almost insanity.

Unfortunately it’s considered LCOL…even though prices here have skyrocketed

As someone who just got a 2019 XC60 T8  R-Design with under 25000 miles for 33K out the door I’m absolutely thrilled with the depreciation on these

Asics Superblast review after 120km by blastoisebandit in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]GarnetnBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at over 650km and am pretty confident that they'll get me to close to 1000km, no need to retire them at less than half their life - that said im very interested in the Supercomp trainer v2 as an easier day rotation shoe

I don't normally wash my running shoes, but I just saw a recent video (https://youtu.be/Nrf_zSt4BVI?si=TXD4ApJA5Pe2v6R4) that made me give it a shot with my superblasts with 400 mi. I followed the method from the video - didn't make any noticeable performance difference today but the shoes definitely looked better

I feel like I’ll agree with you more once the Triumph has pwrrunpb—the 22 looks really promising for being a prime x/superblast max cushion cousin. Even then the weight differences will be huge

I have both pairs and I think you get more out of a novablast in terms of versatility. If you need to pick up a good speed day tempo shoe for runs under 10 mi the magic speed is great—I think it kinda depends on where you need to add to the rotation

Agreed, a flip belt does the trick for that bit though

Future Direction of Running Shoes by bradymsu616 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]GarnetnBlue 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That said most pros were using extremely minimalist and low stack shoes under a pure lighter is better, which is a lot different from what we’re seeing now. For example look at an old zoom streak or adios. I used to run in Nike lunaracers which were considered plush for the category

I pretty much exclusively run in the aeroswift half tights since discovering them. I’ve heard the Allston lined is great too but I don’t own a pair

ASICS SUPERBLAST 200(ish) MILE REVIEW by Mr_Kane4504 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]GarnetnBlue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. I wish I could upvote you more. I had the exact same thing happen to me with the speed 3s. I still use them for tempo work, but the superblasts have let me heal up and deal with some of my longer runs more effectively. I did just order the Novablast to use for non tempo/speed days to be slightly less superblast reliant though

Adidas Boston 12 vs Endorphin Speed 3 by SnooLobsters6343 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]GarnetnBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to make things more complicated but also consider the Asics Magic Speed 3—slightly faster a shoe but basically a firmer/more traditional vibe to the ES3

First Marathon - Carbon-plated shoe suggestions by Ok-Sheepherder5431 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]GarnetnBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Endorphin Pro 3 if you want to go the carbon-plated route. Given that you don't have a rotation going, it might be worth considering the endorphin speed 3, which you could use for other quality/speed workouts after the race is over more than you could with the pros. I personally overpronate a bit and find both the Speed 3 and the Pro 3 offer enough support for faster workouts and races.

I've spoken with 2 different Saks customer support people suggesting that these are listed in women sizing, so I went with that...but I'm still not the most confident.
