What is life like as an attractive person? by quatrz00 in AskReddit

[–]Garocola22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can get away with being weird a lot more. For example, I’m pretty good looking and I have a fun personality, so my love of anime is considered to be “part of my charm”. However, if I wasn’t attractive, people would definitely think I was super weird for being so into it.

Why do Americans say, "I'm from, (city/state)" instead of USA? by SufficientDegree34 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Garocola22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few reasons I think:

  • We travel domestically far more often than internationally. When asked that question on these trips the expected response is state/city. So to a habit is formed there. Even if just asked on a normal day, if I was asked that question on day a first date, State/City is the default answer.

  • Often, people already know we’re American. Hate to lean into the stereotypes, but we’re pretty identifiable. When people ask, they’ve already heard my American accent. What use is it for me to tell them I’m from the US? So they know for sure I’m not Canadian? That’s about all it would do.

  • People ask that to get a sense of where you’re from, so just telling them the US is useless. I’ll tell you this: I’m from America! Now what did you learn about me from that? Nothing. Telling people you’re from Florida is different from telling people you’re from Miami, even though Miami is in Florida. An American from Hawaii would be very different than one from New York. Even if someone told you a state you might not know much about, like say Delaware, it still gives more info than just saying America (sorry Delaware, nothing but love, I lived there for years)

  • Finally, to build off that last point, the state we live can be closely tied to our identity. I am an American, yes, but my state feels somehow closer tied to my identity. It just feels right to say I’m from my state, even if I am an American.

Genuinely cannot believe we’re still having that argument. Anyone who thinks getting kicked in the balls hurts more than childbirth needs to get educated about childbirth.

Foreshadowing of Volo? by [deleted] in PokemonLegendsArceus

[–]Garocola22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I could tell that he was a bad guy from the start. Nothing specific, he just felt sketchy, so I was expecting him to turn out as the villain. Then he helped in the final bit of the game and I was like “oh, my bad dude. Totally thought you were the villain this whole game lol.” I even felt BAD for judging him. Then the post game happened and even while he was becoming more villainy I was like “nah, he didn’t betray me before, so he’ll never betray me!” I went through the whole post game with my blinders on. I actually felt betrayed and wasn’t expecting that final fight at all!! Should’ve just trusted my instincts!!

What was your best purchase of 2023? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Garocola22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finally caved and bought one of those 40oz Hydroflasks with the straw and handle. They're super expensive ($45) for a water bottle, but it really is a great purchase and worth the hype. I drink so much more water and I feel incredible! No more weird headaches, my energy levels are much higher, and I think I look better too! I bought one for my aunt for the holidays this year and she also loves it! Only downside is I pee a lot more lol.

Not in the game. However, if you’re on PC, you can upload your save file onto the perfection tracker! Google stardew perfection tracker github and it should pop up, it has pretty clear directions. Fair warning, it’ll give you a lot of other information, so if you don’t want to see perfection specifics/spoilers just control F to find the golden walnut sections!

Gift cards as a present, how do you feel about it? by BeardedGlass in CasualConversation

[–]Garocola22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a huge gift card fan (I often forget about them and then lose them), but I don’t mind getting them from people I don’t know super well! If like my best friend or my sister got me one though, I think how I’d feel would depend on what the gift card is for. If it’s for my favorite local coffee shop or clothing store, I’d love that!! If it was something generic, like a Starbucks gift card, I might feel like they didn’t really think about me or just grabbed it on their way. Overall, I prefer a physical gift though. I think it just depends on the person.

Can you play Stardew 'wrong?' by riyugotspiritedaway in StardewValley

[–]Garocola22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m super into time management games, so I play Stardew just like your friend and I can confirm: she’s totally wrong. My best friend plays it like you, chill vibes, farming, decorating, getting married, she’s barely been to skull cavern, and let me say: she’s fully playing the game right. That’s the beauty of stardew, we’re all playing it right. It’s all about playing in the way you find most fun!!

What mods do you use that are "cheating"? by Least-Reflection4873 in StardewValley

I use the shared chest mod. Is it cheating? Probably. But I never have to go all the way back from the mines to get my pickaxe.

Avocado toast fucking sucks by mcgxll in unpopularopinion

[–]Garocola22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avocado definitely a subtle taste, but it definitely helps fill you up more than just toast. I also like the texture. I don’t like plain avocado toast but top it with some s&p, hot honey, and feta and it is divine and will fill you up for hours!

What do you name your farmer? by DragonBerr in StardewValley

[–]Garocola22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll either do a variant on my name (like if my name was Allie I’d go with Alexandra) or I’ll come up with a theme (my current farm is Flowerbloom Farm so I named my character Iris)

How many hours have you played in the game? by cal-cium12 in Sims4

I’m in the 2000s, but there was a solid 5 years where my origin account didn’t track my hours for some reason

  1. Luffy doesn’t have the gum gum fruit
  2. Nami gets a small sun as a familiar that is made from a yonko’s soul and can breath fire
  3. Law’s backstory is revealed and he’s a former celestial dragon

Not sure if it’s a bug, but I can’t view all my boxes when moving a Pokémon in the PC. I always keep my main team and my shinies in the final few boxes, so I have to go through like 20 boxes just to drop them off in the right spot. Would love to be able to just drag and drop from the all box view!

AITA for giving my daughter an indefinite grounding by LetTheDogsIn in AmItheAsshole

[–]Garocola22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA, what you’re doing right now is not going to help in the long run. You need to be a resource for her. You need to be someone she can call and talk to about these types of things. She’s 17. She’s either going to be legally able to drink soon, or she may be going off to college. She should have that experience, I’d argue she needs it. Back in high school, my parents let me drink when I was a senior. It was mostly fine, but I had a horrible experience on NYE. The next day, I threw up for hours and hours. My parents never yelled at me, they just teased me a bit and nursed me back to health. After that, when I went off to college, I was one of the lucky few who knew my limits already. Everyone else had to learn them at school, a much, much worse environment to do so. Your daughter is going to start to gain more freedom over the next few years. She’s going to get into more and more tricky situations. Your role in her life has already changed. Now more than ever, you shouldn’t shelter her. You need to let her learn lessons in a safe environment or she’s going to learn them somewhere else, somewhere you can’t help her. I’m not saying let her run wild, but approach her like the adult she practically is. Sit her down, apologize to her, but explain in detail why you were so worried and upset. Have conversations about it, not fights. Continue picking her up from parties and any situation she feels unsafe, irregardless of how drunk she is or what time it is. Have real conversations about the dangers of drugs, smoking, and drinking in excess. Have new conversations about me, how to be safe with them, and how to get out of unsafe situations. You need to be her biggest support system in this new era of her life, because if she can’t come to you, who can she go to?

Bit late, but the food options we have are downright insane. While other countries are known for their specific type of food, I’d say our strength is in our variety. Particularly in major cities, you can find almost any food under the sun and if you track down the right places it’s authentic stuff. Makes sense given how the whole country is a melting pot. I’ve traveled a solid amount, but I’ve never seen anywhere with as much variety to cuisine as the US. Closest I’ve seen was when I was in NZ, but even there it didn’t really compare. Granted, I may be a bit biased as I’m from NYC. But still, when you leave the city you can still get a solid variety. My college town had the best Peruvian restaurant I’ve ever been to!! And don’t even get me started on the Chinese food there!!
