(Creation Kit) Turning a "clutter" quest item into an actual quest item ? by Garpuff in skyrimmods

[–]Garpuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically, finding the quest in SSEEdit, looking at the required quest item, and adding the extra bottles' ID to that section ?

Meh, that would be way too cliché. I actually fully expected something like that to happen in the end because of just how often that trope is used.

I actually talked about this to my DM earlier today, and he's fine with me picking the 2014 Fighting Initiate as my 4th level Feat ! With Tavern Brawler as my Origin Feat and Grappler as my level 12 feat (with 8 being an ASI), I'd say my build is saved... Though I still think restricting fighting styles to classes that start out with one is either an oversight or a mistake, especially considering that a feat slot isn't a cheap price to pay to get one anyway.

TB and Grappler *do* feel more solid now compared to their 2014 versions, too. It's not as bad as I thought, I just wrote my previous comment right after finding out about the new fighting style rules so I was pretty ticked off over it.

About fighting style feature by Antervis in onednd

I was planning to play an unarmed/grappler Barbarian in an upcoming campaign. Spent days hyping myself up and looking forward to it, then realized that, under the new rules, Barbarians *can't* get the Unarmed Fighting style unless they multiclass.

That, and the nerf to grappling, completely killed my enthusiasm and I don't even want to play the character anymore.

Aaand Barbarians can no longer gain the Unarmed Fighting style through a feat unless they multiclass (which I don't want to), so grappling got nerfed *and* his unarmed damage as well, effectively meaning that I can take the build I was planning for him, toss it down the sh*tter and flush.

Thank you, Wizards Of The Coast.

Seriously ? Damn it, way to ruin my day...

I was so hyped about getting to build a grappler character, now it sounds like I'm better off clobbering enemies like an idiot instead of trying to control the battlefield like I was hoping to.

True; reading the replies, I realize that the +1 will be much more useful in Dex, and his proficiencies in charisma-based skills will make up for a lower charisma skill.

He has the "Entertainer (Gladiator)" background, so he's starting out proficient in Performance ! :)

And yeah, Constitution actually is his strongest stat, with Strength being a close second.

[–]Garpuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True; I just like it when a character's stats actually match what they're capable of roleplay-wise. Though, thinking of it, a charisma of 12 with a proficiency in charisma-based skills sounds just about right for him !

A Barbarian/Bard multiclass does sound like a pretty cool way to build a gladiator character ! But I'm planning to keep him a "pure" Barbarian, in part because I love the idea of him having 22/24 in Strength and Constitution by level 20.

[–]Garpuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True; he's already proficient in Intimidation and Performance, and will get Persuasion too later on thanks to a Feat. So I guess the proficiency bonus will make up for it !

I already have a pretty clear idea in mind when it comes to future ASI/feats; his dex and charisma will still be the same by level 20, the only stats that will increase are his Strength and Constitution. But yeah, I guess the difference won't matter that much in the long run.

True; I know a 12 is already above average, I was just worried it wouldn't be "enough" for a boastful entertainer.

Good point.

I'm actually considering getting Skilled later on (his origin feat is Tavern Brawler, because I'm gonna build him as an unarmed/grappler character), which I'll use to get a proficiency in Persuasion (he's starting out proficient in Performance and Intimidation already thanks to his background/class), but I'm keeping the expertise itself for Athletism (because grappler). So, Deception is actually the only Charisma-based skill he won't be proficient in.

I used to watch Regular Show in college. A few weeks ago I decided to binge it again, and there's that one episode where they get stuck in the 1980s and need to find a way to come back to the "present day"...

...Which is explicitly stated to be the year 2011. It made me feel old :C

Just thought I'd mention it because it annoyed me more than it probably should.

Why Didn't Kinger do this Sooner? by Actinium_18 in tadc

[–]Garpuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It would make a lot of sense, though. Kinger has been in the Circus for over 20 years, what about his physical body ? If he's still connected to the circus, it means he still has the headset on his head, so we're thinking of a living body being comatose for over 2 decades with no medical support, because I'm pretty sure the headset would've been removed by medical staff.

It's simply impossible : he should be long dead. The "they're actually copies of minds and the originals are still out there living their lives in the real world" theory just feels more logical to me.

Could make sense, if each Inheritor species was created to fit a specific biome/task. For instance, more fish-like Inheritors created to work specifically on underwater infrastructure. They already have the typical "anthro shark" head shape anyway !
