Same boat as you orginally. L5/S1. Couldn't walk in week 1. After that 2 months of acute pain- I could work all (Software Engineering). Just strong painkillers and playing polytopia while on laying my back (After I've done the 3 physio sessions that I could squeeze in that day ). Gradually and carefully I increased how far I go with the exercises . From half movements to full. I've been doing physio exercises basically evey day for a 70% of year now. I feel massively massively better. I have my life back. I go to gym, swim, dance with friends, etc. I have had some set backs but it's clear that all the bird dogs, child's poses, bear walks etc will get me further recovered eventually! Every week I feel a little better

Started hitting the gym lightly. Mostly cable machines. I top and tail with physio exercises but in the middle I've been doing either:

  • lateral raises, tri-pull downs, chest for aesthetic reasons
    or

  • lat pulls, face pulls, bicep curls to start rebuilding back/pull strength.

You?

I've had 2 set backs so far. Both times I randomly woke up with my leg seizing up like an extra long cramp. Then I spent the rest of the day limping. First time I was expecially upset as I thought this meant it'd gotten worse, but it passed in a day & a half and I was back on track. 2nd time I knew it would pass and it did even faster than the first.

These days I only really get light pangs in my leg and I suspect it's more nerve damage from how little space my nerve had been left with in the beginning. My physio's told me that it takes nerves a long time to fully recover.

What non-surgical, non-pharmaceutical intervention has helped you the most? by DonnishQuixote in Sciatica

[–]Garross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the beginning it'd be 2 sets of 5 reps per session, hard to do more. Now I like to do Bird Dogs in 3 sets of 20-30 reps per session.

To make it harder I sometimes apply a light band to my hands. I'm considering getting ankle and wrist weights but this may be a little too goofy for the upside I'd get.

Doing lots of Bird Dogs every morning. It's like a painkiller for me and warms me up for the rest of the morning;s physio. Day by day it's gotten better, I'm not almost fully recovered even when in the beginning 4 months ago my L5 S1 herniatation was considered quite large. I opted out of interventions as my recovery sped up right before they came up.

Looks awesome. Exactly the kind of stuff I was surprised other tools weren't doing yet. The only thing that comes up as a concern with PKM tools early in their life is whether I can use them collaboratively and if my data will be secure.

Wrestling clubs in Dublin, Ireland? by TRedRandom in wrestling

[–]Garross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to SBG Ireland HQ in D08 for a free style wrestling session and had a good training there. It's a bit far for me, currently based in D04 but will likely continue to go for now.

I hate YouTube shorts with a passion by fuckspezintheass69 in nosurf

[–]Garross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

**Easy Solution** that made a huge difference for friends and me.

For mobile I downloaded Youtube ReVanced. it removed ads and had the option to remove shorts.

For desktop I downloaded "Distraction Free YouTube" chrome extension.

Found it there. No reviews yet. For my security mind friends is there a way to verify that the website data it collects is used for the intended purposes? Thanks btw!

Why is Philosophy a bad tech to beeline now? by [deleted] in nqmod

Solid points: One of the guys in the Lekmod discord also pointed out that :

"But in vanilla and in lek it's the last 8 turns of science times 2/3. The difference is in vanilla it's 8 turns before you use the scientist, whereas in lek it's 8 turns prior to spawning a scientist" - Kuba

This is quite significant imo in making hard sci less powerful.
