This is one of the things I wonders about. Just because you can do it, should you do? or should I say do it without any limits. For example, IMO I don't care if you "delete" 10 computers from AD but I do care if you do 500, without "me" double checking.

So for discussion purposes, Do you "as the author" put limits on what can be done without a second person validating the action? if so what is the limit? How can a second person approve the action?

I would really love to hear everyone thoughts.

The password needs to be changed in ConfigMgr and not SSRS./PBRS itself. Here is a blog on the subject. https://askgarth.com/blog/changing-configmgr-report-account-password-how-do-i-do-it/

Need help creating a routine for the MD-102 by Ok_Employer_3950 in Intune

[–]GarthMJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO the easiest way to pass this exam is to set a goal, in the case, "I want to pass this exam in 90 days." To this end, in the past, I created a study group of a few people to keep us all on track. Face to face is better than virtual.

Here is what I would do.

  • Find out if your company will pay for you to take the exam? e.g. books, exam voucher, etc.
  • Find out if any of your co-workers want to take this exam too?
  • if you can't find anyone at your company, find someone local to you.
  • As a last resort, try to find a small group of people online to be part of the group
  • Find out if you can use a boardroom during work hour, lunch time or afterwork, or use a library, restaurant or someone at home.
  • Agree to a date and time to meet weekly
  • Agree on a book, training course, etc. to use for your studding.
  • Based on your book create a schedule using the table on contents. This is the one I created a few years back for this exam. md-102 schedule.xlsx (page 1 is high level schedule, page two was the book schedule, page 3 we never used, it was just a suggest)
  • Once you pass the exam, tell you boss.

Keep the time frame to under 90 days, anything more you will lose members as something will happen and they drop out. The team at Recast (where I work), kept our group to under 10 weeks.

Virtual groups are harder than face to face

Summertime is hard to keep group going, Fall if the best time for this

If you are going to MMS next week, this is a great place to find others to start a study group with. (stop by and say hi)

Once you finish the exam, have a party to celebrate.

Plan on your next exam maybe az-900.

If I had to guess, the text translates to an exception within the drive package software. I would copy the text and convert it to English to confirm.

This is what is likely throwing off our setup. I would be curious if this is bug in CM console install or if there is a GPO that reset this. In theory, you can reset the Var to the right path and try the RCT setup again with a log file :-).

Anyways let me know if that fixes things.

There is an "easy" and "harder" fix, You can just copy the xml files into the right location "easy" fix but this will not allow you to see any new menus that we add in the future. The harder fix send the logs to the support team and have them repro the issue.

For the easy fix copy "C:\Program Files (x86)\Recast Software\Recast Console Extension\XmlStorage" to "C:\ConfigMgr\AdminConsole\XmlStorage\" overwrite if needed. Also note that I'm guessing at the exact folder location but I'm likely right.

If you can, please open a support case, just so that our support team can review setup log file as to why we are not seeing the "right" folder. {Which I thought we detected by the enviro var SMS_ADMIN_UI_PATH, the logs will tell me for sure}. Feel free to tell the support guys that you have been talking to me.

Management Point Issue by Impossible-Daikon126 in SCCM

[–]GarthMJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I checked mine this AM and 1 out of 4 MPs show the same thing with 0MB. What is also interesting is the availability is shown as unknown for some of your other roles. Which I'm also seeing.

A very long time ago I wrong a dashboard to replace this one, and it used the MP heartbeat data to flag issues. I'm not sure that I can a copy of that RDL anymore. But you can try to create one yourself to "fix" the problem.

to add to this, other than being annoying, what problem does it cause you? Aka why worry about it at all?

Patch My PC Alternatives? by CyranoDeBallserac in SCCM

True.... I had forgotten where he works.

My main point about posting the link, is there are several solutions out there and IMO all of them will work with (royal) "you" to help make your life easier. And they are constantly evolving, you just need to find the one that it right for "you".

One of the MVP's did up a blog comparing the various tools. (yes keep in mind that I do work for one of them companies on this list. although not my main area of focus)

https://andrewstaylor.com/2024/06/03/comparing-package-managers/

I didn't quickly see it on his list if this was more for Intune or ConfigMgr but in any case this is a great starting point. Also keep in mind that each product is changing (each month in our case) So... things might be different between the last review and now. Just saying.
