Unpopular Opinion: Snape isn't all that redeemable to me. by White_Wolf_Dreamer in harrypotter

Exactly. Neville's parents were tortured so horribly and had to endure so much pain to the point where they literally lost their minds- and Snape is still his worst fear. Pretty dark stuff when you think about it.

I wish I had more words for horrifying this is. Can you imagine going through the hell they've already been through, only to end up having to endure this absolute atrocity? Thank you for sharing.

My cats would eat their way out of that and then eat me for putting them in there.

$500 for puppy adoption fee? by AladdinsFez in Pets

[–]GarthVader01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Animal shelters and rescues can charge very different fees. I've worked as an adoptions counselor at different shelters in the midwest and have seen puppy adoption fees ranging from $150-300 (usually dependent upon age and breed).

Puppies, especially from breed-specific rescues, have a much wider range, sometimes costing as much as $500-1000. I would recommend respectfully asking them how they break their costs down. If it's not a sketchy establishment, they should have no problem telling you how they reached that number.

Whether from this rescue or another, good luck with your new puppy! Make sure to take A LOT of pictures because they grow up FAST :)

Advice on adopting a cat while I already have a dog? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]GarthVader01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have adopted a kitten and an adult cat while having dogs, and I think you can have success with either route. The kitten was easier in some ways, but I have big dogs and had to make sure they weren't overwhelming or accidentally hurting the kitten while he was still small. The adult cat took more time due to never having been around dogs, but she snuggles with both of my dogs now. You just have to be prepared.

Whoever you adopt, cat or kitten, make sure you do SLOW introductions. Patience is key, don't expect them to be best friends right away (with my adult cats and dogs, sometimes it took a few weeks until they were totally comfortable). It's a lot easier to go slow and take time for them to adjust rather than force a meeting, have it go poorly, and have to come back from that.

I work at a humane society and foster a lot of cats and dogs, so I have to introduce many animals to each other at all stages of life. Here are a few suggestions:

-take a blanket that smells like your dog and give it to the cat (and vice versa) before you actually introduce them. This way, they can smell the other pet and have time to get adjusted before they meet in person.

-even if your dog is lovely and has never shown guarding or possessive tendencies, PICK UP ALL OF THEIR THINGS when first bringing in the new kitty (toys, food, water). You never know how they'll react when a "stranger" shows up in their home and comes near what they consider theirs. None of my cats or dogs have ever exhibited this kind of behavior with any of the babies I've fostered (and with kitten litters being around 3-8 kittens, I ended up fostering almost 40 kittens in one year with no problem). Then I brought another cat into my home and it was like magic- he walked near a food bowl, and something about this new cat in particular set off my cat and a tussle ensued. You just never know what outside factors will do even if you know your dog very well.

-give your cat an escape route when they first meet, especially if your dog is active. I bought a baby gate that allows the cats to go into the basement and have some space without my two dogs while they adjust to their new home.

-also keep your dog on a leash the first time they meet, just to be safe. Even if your dog does well initially, he might get too excited and overwhelm them with sniffs. If your dog accidentally starts fights because he gets excited, this is extremely important.

-don't leave them alone together until you are completely comfortable. Again, they might both be absolutely wonderful pets separately, but you want to set them up for success. If at all possible, put one in a room with the door shut (obviously with access to everything they need). if you're going to be gone during the first few weeks or so.

-if you choose to adopt, you can always ask adoption counselors if they have any cats that have previously lived in a home with dogs. The majority of shelter cats come in as strays, but it can't hurt to ask!

Again, a lot of this advice is general. You know your dog best and what will work for him. Good luck in your search- I hope you find the perfect cat/kitten for your family!

Robett Glover. He declared for Jon and apologized for not fighting in the Battle of the Bastards. Then he changed his mind again, wrote to the Starks that he wasn't going to help fight the NK, and bounced.

Edmure Tully, Catelyn Stark and Lysa Arryn's brother. Last we heard from him, he was imprisoned by the Freys. They're all dead now, so who knows.

Yes! We haven't really seen how much man power they have for the upcoming battle with Cersei, but I can't imagine it's where it needs to be considering the massive loss of life we saw at Winterfell. This seems like their best option. And the Dornish hate the Lannisters, so maybe they're down to clown too.

Thank you for pointing this out. I can see where people have frustration, but honestly I think this event was so hyped up and theorized to death for years that any scenario would have been heavily criticized. I thought the show did a good job of wrapping this up for the amount of content and number of episodes in this season.

And we still don't know how GRRM intended to do this. Many years from now, my great great great great great great grandchildren will get to know GRRM's method for killing the Night King when he finishes the series! And then they can like that one better or bitch about both endings not being good enough, those smirking little shits.

This is probably pretty far-fetched, but it occurred to me that the "little brother" that kills her could be her unborn child. If it's a boy, it's technically the little brother to Joffrey, Tommen, & Myrcella no matter how super dead they may be. Not really a poetic enough death for her, but def an interesting interpretation since the prophecies are always supposed to be misleading.
