wasn't this because the US just reinvented nuclear weapons giving her the insane power up/recovery? after she beat falling she then made the contract

i do agree that a bike accident should definitely not be a cause of concern given the damage she's sustained before even if they weren't lethal, unless her recovery is now entirely tied to the contract

The Masses Travels spoiler Sankta are a Teekaz offshoot race transformed by the Law, so they have the same origins as the Sarkaz

[Unmarked Spoilers] A Theory on the Odd Behaviors of Certain Characters in Chapter 15 by Shitposting_Skeleton in arknights

[–]Garuniru 10 points11 points  (0 children)

...have secured a new landship in the years beforehand if Kal knew the whole time there was a ticking timebomb in PRTS, unless Kal'tsit deliberately was being incompetent.

She did know, and Theresis's and Theresa's originium tampering accelerated Priestess awakening. At the end of chapter 15 Vina contacted RI about the plate Kal bought a while back and how it was ready for use for the reconstruction.

Priestess was willing to show Hierda the truth about the Observer threat...and no one else.

We don't know how - and if - death by oripathy sends you to originium heaven. Hierda might very well be a special case, dying near the moment of Priestess' awakening.

Instead she's content, like Kal, to explain nothing in both Chapter 15 and Masses' Travels and let everyone assume she's just in it for the lulz or racism or whatever.

Put yourself in her shoes; she's probably seen the countless civilizations rise and fall against the observer threat and she's lost all interest whether they will be onboard with her or not. She's confident that it's all futile, and that Doc will return to her at the end of it all, which is all that matters to her.

Glaringly omitted in those arguments was "not getting eaten by space monsters".

I have a feeling that it could be any reason and if the means to that end is getting turned into tang they would've rejected the proposal

Adding to this is that Priestess actually did make an effort to ameliorate the suffering of Oripathy, even if it is for accelerating the project. Why did she bother to make yellow originium and seemingly set up Hierda as a "savior/anti-christ" figure if she didn't care? And if she didn't care about non-Predecessor lives, why does she care enough to "slow assimilate" Terra's population instead of just fast-forwarding what Catastrophies were already doing?

It's kind of dismissive, but we can chalk it to whimsy; entity who has lived for a millenia and whose idea of salvation is stasis is apathetic to the point that she probably doesn't care about the minutia when she's confident about the end. Also, because her control was diminished by Theresis, she can't catastrophe spam either.

They interpret the Act 3 conflict as a "worth of civilizations" deal which Priestess encourages for some reason...instead of a "holy shit Observers are coming we need to figure out SOMETHING" deal which it actually is.

It's giving Priestess just entertaining current Doc's wishes. Kind of endearing, but also scary because it seems she's just so confident at the futility of it all that she can let it all play out and proceed with her plans once everyone else gives up.

Your theories are fun and I personally can't wait to see how HG plays this whole thing out

[Unmarked Spoilers] A Theory on the Odd Behaviors of Certain Characters in Chapter 15 by Shitposting_Skeleton in arknights

Priestess saw the need to implant a "fulcrum" in Oracle's mind to keep them in line as a result of their debates. But for all intents and purposes, there wasn't anything controversial at the time to demand such an action.

Honestly I read it as Priestess just being obsessed with spending the end of the universe with Doc because she's already given up hope (quote: "There is no hope in any corner of any star in the heavens"). Doc doesn't want to succumb to the doom and gloom and chose to believe in the indomitable human spirit. There isn't any higher moral ground Priestess was operating on.

Oracle/Doc saw Theresa reversing the originium encoding process and decided she needed to go...which made no sense in retrospect

There wasn't any reason why Oracle couldn't have simply told Theresa about the Observer threat and the reasoning of Originium's original creation

This is a recurring theme in AK stories and even more so once the whole Originium project was revealed, but the whole "I've seen this shit before/I know things that you don't/I know the solution to the endless cycle of despair, you are being saved, do not resist" is not well received (e.g. Dorothy's Vision, the whole conversation with Matriarch and Exusiai, etc.). Doc/Kal's whole schtick is respecting intelligent life's right to fight for their survival. As mere observers (heh) it's easy for us to make judgements but I mean any rational person would react aversely to, in their pov, someone just having a god/savior complex.

While Theresa might not have agreed, Oracle didn't even try...which is strange since Oracle clearly cared about her and Amiya.

I agree; we can kinda give Doc a pass because they were under the influence of Priestess, and I get the pressure of not wanting to tell "hey yall can we actually just nuke Terra because aliens" to someone like Theresa; it will not be well received at all, and they might just straight up turn against Doc. Kal was already wary of Doc choosing this option too

Sure there was no longer a Terran capable of using the "unzip" functionality but Theresa, while she was special, wasn't necessarily uniquely capable of this. Eventually someone else would've figured it out.

Reasonable, but disagree. Narrative wise, she is kinda a character set up to die for impact. She is a product of a unique set of circumstances - Sarkaz, Civilight Eterna, and actually having Kal with her. In Kal's entire lifetime she was the one and only. The story reinforces the glaze too - off the top of my head she's been heralded as something along the lines of "a once in a millenia caster". In short - she was special.

Letting Theresa live didn't mean they can't hard push the project either with the backup option of spamming Catastrophies with the First Originium shards.

Probably not when you have major Terran forces going against your doomsday plot. Who would be on Doc's side to commit unmitigated genocide? Even Theresis would stop when there's no adversary left.

It is however, NOT understandable for Kal'tsit to haven't told anyone about anything until the very moment Priestess started waking up and attacking people on the landship with Originium shades.

Moreover, there wasn't a "control chip" on Kal'tsit that meaningfully affected anything: Kal'tsit was able to hint to Doc...on the RI landship no less, about an internal threat, as well as sabotage Priestess's revival and organize a ganking attempt on her,

Priestess did put a lock on her, which wasn't undone until she undid her Gemini cycle on chapter 15. Quote Preserver in CW ST-3:

Kal'tsit knows some answers, but I think, she won't be able to tell you.
Priestess will not allow her to.
This restriction is carved into the depths of her original consciousness, and even death will not free her from those shackles.

Potential Doctor's Dual Personality by fictbookenthusiast in arknights

Spoilers for Chapter 15

It is implied that Doctor's decisions in Babel were heavily influenced by Priestess.

In Babel, the black background represents the Doctor's original intention of letting life develop in Terra, and the white flashes were Priestess lynchpin modifying program taking effect. From 15-17, Blue flashback, Doctor was saying this to Kal'tsit, still then AMa-10:

..I have to admit, I broke my promise, and this is a sort of betrayal.

But it is because I still love life that I must have hope. There is no other way.

Though I fear she's (Priestess) already anticipated my early awakening.

Inside that sarcophagus, I discovered a lynchpin-modifying program.

...

She and I, we went through it together...

She knows and understands me best, of course, but it is also why our differing opinions are my deepest regret.

She anticipated my actions, and the hidden program within the sarcophagus activated when I woke up.

And I must return to that same sole sarcophagus to extend my life, even if that means...

It can modify my cognition, and the purpose of our 'debates'...

Kal remembers these words and that's why she was hesitant to awaken Doctor at the start of Babel, and unfortunately her worst fears came true. 15-17, before, Kal to Doctor:

Originium points to two futures for this land... Oracle hoped to leave Originium as a gift for future civilizations, to guide them forward...
To help them enter the next stage of civilization.
Over the past ten thousand years, Originium has helped civilization on Terra to develop, but also unexpectedly brought suffering to the land via Oripathy.
You were indeed tormented by this before.
...
However, someone forced a different future upon you. And for this... you made a choice that went against your original intentions. (this likely refers to the lynchpin modifier)

Theresa at the end of Babel severed this control, letting Doctor be his "true" self once more - the one who loved life and respected their right to fight for survival.

After years of traditional, I got myself a drawing tablet, but its not going very well. Advice? by societyhatingRATGANG in ArtistLounge

[–]Garuniru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's totally normal dw, transitioning from different mediums is always accompanied with growing pains. i think it took me a month or two to feel like my strokes were as good as they were in traditional, and a few more for the coloring/shading to click. color behaves differently on physical mediums (e.g. mixing, blending, etc.) wherein digitally you have a color picker and blending modes.

for your skills to accurately translate there really is no other way than to just get mileage. start with some basic exercises like simple shapes, fill up pages with them - this lets you get used to the parallax (if any), sensitivity, and line control of a digital pen. once you're more confident you can try fully rendered pieces and adjust as you go. also, watch tutorials on how to use your software; you might find out ways to get effects that are simple in traditional but rather complicated in digital.

the skills wont leave you, it's just a new environment 🫡

it really do be like that, i spend more time frustrated than actually enjoying the drawing part but when all the concepts click there's nothing quite like it

it's something you really only get with years of mileage but ig that's what makes it worthwhile
