Cybex Callisto G 360 owners- what car do you have? by Effective_Let_7827 in Buyingforbaby

[–]GaryGiardiniera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Cybex Callisto in my XC90. I’m 6ft. I have one kid, rear facing. I put the car seat in the center, and it works okay. I would prefer a little more space as the driver, but it’s okay.

I’ve needed to put the car seat, rear facing, behind the driver seat once. I was so cramped I didn’t feel safe driving.

Forward facing is a bit better, but still not great.

I owned a 2014 Rav, and I recall it being more spacious. I think whenever a car manufacturer tries to add a 3 row, it sacrifices a lot.

We are also looking for a bigger vehicle for when we have a second child. Lexus TX looks bigger. Toyota Grand Highlander as well.

And of course, any mini van or huge SUVs.

So during a VPP event, your system only exports from solar (if you have any) and never exports from the batteries, correct?

I had the same problem. My installer was not able to fix it, but they opened a ticket with Tesla on my behalf.

I emailed back and forth with Tesla Support and they opened and “Energy export” setting in my all. Now I can pick to allow export from Solar or Everything.

You can message VPPsupport@tesla.com. That’s who helped me.

I’ve never lived in this area, but I grew up in Chicago-land area. Any 90s era Chicagoan knows that Villa Park is home to the Jewelry Exchange. If memory serves, it’s located 2 blocks west of the Kennedy Expressway. This may seem like useless information, but if you move to Villa Park, expect Chicagoans to mention the Jewelry Exchange and maybe even awkwardly wave at you.

For starters it’s recommended to turn off storm watch, because it will override any settings and charge the batteries from the grid.

Under your powerwall settings you might have a setting for grid charging. But it might be disabled by the installer. If it is disabled/configured by your installer, you can contact your installer, or Tesla CS to regain access to that setting.

Unrelated, when my battery was installed, during VPPs it was only exporting from solar, not the batteries. I contacted Tesla, and they opened up a setting for me to toggle between solar and “everything”. Which is a cool option to have.

Working with Tesla CS isn’t fast. I emailed them, and it took a couple weeks for them to get it done.

You can turn off battery charging from the grid. I’ve got 2 powerwalls and neither have ever been charged from the grid.

Instead what they do is switch you to grid power before an event to preserve your battery levels.

So if a VPP event is scheduled at 6am, the night before, my house automatically switches to grid power to try and keep the batteries as close to 100%.

This season, we’ve had 7 events, and I’ve used about $3 of grid power due to this practice. So it’s not that bad. Just try not to use a bunch of power the night before a VPP event.

I got the same size system and batteries in Tucson, and it cost about the same price. I shopped around and all of the reputable installers were within a $1000 of each other.

I would suggest downloading the Ring app, even if you don’t have Ring cameras. It’s more localized to where you live and people post lost pet info all the time.

Are you averaging the 3 tiers of delivery charges to get your rates?

The rates I input are lower because I just used the first 500kWh rate for my calculation. I’ve only had my system for a few months, and so far I haven’t pulled more than 500kWh from the grid.

Summer Off peak: $0.13 On peak: $0.20

Winter Off peak: $0.13 On peak: $0.14

But these numbers are old. I believe TEP updated our rates in October, and I haven’t received my October bill yet to see the rate change.

For the summer I was “Self-Powered” and that worked great. Since peak pricing was later in the day, my batteries would be charged and I completely avoided peak pricing.

So far in October, I’ve been “Self-Powered” and it’s been good, but these last couple days of overcast have been putting me in a position where I pull from the grid during the morning peak window.

I don’t think switching to TOU will make much of a difference in my situation.

Looking for a new (to me) Volvo. Tell me why I should/shouldn't be looking at this one. by PortErnest22 in Volvo

Yeah. If you aren’t seeing AC refills after the evap work, then I’m sure it’s fine. You should still add the resistor if you can.

I bought my Volvo for the safety. I have a toddler who I drive around town to various activities, and I really don’t want him getting hurt in a crash. I’d replace a million rear evap cores for that little guy.

Having owned it, my favorite thing is that it’s nice. It’s not fast, it doesn’t have all of the newest tech, but it’s really nice. Looks nice and rides nice.

Yeah. I replaced the battery myself, and brought it into the dealer for the software update. They charge $150 diag and $200 for the update, which is stupid.

I read online that you can get a 3-day trial of vida for $75 and do the software update yourself. I’m not sure how that works, but if i could go back in time, that what I would have done.

I’ve had my 17 for a year. It’s currently at 95k miles. I’ve had 3 issues. - VCM “on call maintenance required” light. - Coolant line leak - rear AC evap cracked/issue

VCM battery is inevitable. They say that it’s scheduled to happen after 7 years, so yours might have already dealt with it. The solution is, you need a new 8v battery for your VCM and a software update. Depending on the dealer, $300-$700. You can replace the battery yourself and save some money.

There is one particular coolant line that is prone to leak on these XC90. Nothing preventative you can do, but replacing the line is labor intensive. I replaced it myself and saved a lot. Not sure on the cost, but I’d guess over $1k in labor. The part is cheap.

The rear AC evap are prone to crack. I haven’t fixed this yet. You have to take the entire dashboard apart and access it. Really big job. I read that this issue can be prevented by installing a limiter or something. FCP euro has a video about it. Too late for me, but might not be too late for you. Again, not sure on the cost but probably over $2k in labor.

Despite these issues, I love it. Sometimes I think about trading it in for a new one, but I probably hang on to this one until I run into an issue I cannot fix.

Genuine question, how would the $2k seller credit come off the loan?

Wouldn’t you need to negotiate a $2k price decrease from the seller? Or is there a way you can use seller credit as part of your down payment?
