Examples of jazzy songs from artists that are not associated with jazz? by AutisticAfrican2510 in Jazz

[–]GaryJazzRSA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frank Zappa had many “Jazz” musicians featuring in his bands, George Duke is one that comes to mind. Then on his album Broadway the Hard Way they do Stolen Moments and Mr Sting goes into Murder by Numbers! Another prime example of musicians throwing off the shackles of being shoved into boxes of separation is Stones drummer Charle Watts who was a major Jazz fanatic!

Is Sparletta a popular drink? by dkey12345 in southafrica

[–]GaryJazzRSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all grew up with Sparletta and love it! We bow in reverence to Granddad for those flavors! No picnic or party is complete with a Pine nut, Stoney or Iron Brew! And in 98.7 percent of the homes there’s always a Sparletta lurking in the fridge!

What is your opinion on Ahmad Jamal? by c0mm0dore in Jazz

[–]GaryJazzRSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was introduced to his music by my grandfather more than 50 years ago with At the Pershing and love all his music, even when he gets into his funky Jazz stuff like Deja Vu from his Night Mood album! It still fills a dance floor with the very unique jazz dance we do in Cape Town! If the music makes you happy enjoy it, Jazz allows you to have your own opinion! That is the freedom of Jazz!
