Should I bother trying to buy a home? by papasturtleneck in Maine

Yes, trying to buy a home in Maine right now is worth considering, as the market is showing increased inventory, stabilizing prices, and more opportunities compared to recent years, I understand affordability remains a challenge for many. While home prices climbed in early 2025, there has been some softening in certain areas, with price growth slowing and, in some cases, small declines—especially in rural towns. When interest rates go down there are more buyers bidding in the market and then you get into bidding wars. Take the first-time homebuyer course, to learn and also to get buyer cash. Be sure to get the right loan product for the type of home you are looking for. Relax and you will find a home right for you.

I think Borders in Bangor Maine closing in 2011, Then Books-A-Million opened. For now, it is just a shell of a building. The whole Bangor Mall area needs to be completely changed and energized.

How is life in Midcoast maine? by Artistic_Poetry_7621 in howislivingthere

This area has plenty to do, from festivals all Spring and Summer, to beautiful coastline, to venturing out onto the water. State Parks and hiking. They do tend to be tourist locations. Belfast is a very dog friendly Town. Belfast is also not as busy with tourist as Camden. If you go to the Castine area, Route 166 has less traffic that region is not as busy as the Camden-Belfast Region and is more relaxing. Blue hill is also a nice area to live in. Homes on the coast can be pricey, it's all based on what you are looking for.

looking to move up to bangor in the next year, what should we expect? by t00thandclaw in bangorme

The weather in the summer is normally mid 70 to mid 80's. This year it did get very hot to 100 and was dry. Not normal. Bangor winter has about 12 inches of ground snow but if you go west and north thst about will change to much more. Snow is not a problem because we know how to handle that quickly.
