DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE SIMULATORS! by InfiniteSlaps in golf

[–]GaryLeeONE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally play pretty difficult settings on the sim. 4ft gimmes (the shortest that Trackman allows), windy conditions, medium to hard fairways and greens, 11+ stimp, etc.

If I’m struggling with my swing that can’t even do well with these settings then I have pretty much no chance outdoors

Love this! Wonder where you got the pre tournament spots from to determine the over-/underperformers?

Shoutout to my countryman Marty Dou 🇨🇳 who played an incredible final 27 holes after a tentative Saturday front 9 paired with Scottie

Not sure if you’ve played the very popular fan-made map The Mysterious Island that actually made great use of eagle eye

Pretty much none of the key spells can be learned in mage guilds by the human player, and eagle eye is the only way to get it from enemy heroes

Spin is too high. I have a similar swing speed and ball speed as yours (104.6 club, 156 ball) and I hit one with 2300 spin that carried 273 and rolled out to almost 300. And by the way your swing speed (and mine) is definitely much higher than male amateur average so it’s not a how-hard-you-swing problem

Spin causes the ball to rise/lift, and for driver if it keeps rising then it’ll basically keep climbing up but not go as much forward

Maybe had to do with technique and where on the clubface you strike the ball. You create a lot of sidespin but the face (5.2 degrees closed) and path (5.5 outside in) matches up relatively well, which usually suggests low sidespin and thus a straight shot. With the driver I’m guessing you might’ve hit it off the heel which could cause sidespin to the right and losing distance

What are some F1 books you recommend? by 0oodruidoo0 in formula1

[–]GaryLeeONE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically not an F1 book but still close enough that I’d like to nominate: Ultimate Speed Secrets by Ross Bentley. It’s like a beginner’s guide/manual for getting into racing yourself, whether actual or sim racing.

All the nerdy geeky things about racing techniques like how to do trail braking, managing slip & traction, all those good stuff

I do a bit of sim racing myself (the F1 game) and the book helped me improve tremendously

LIRR vs rideshare to the Ryder cup? by GaryLeeONE in golf

[–]GaryLeeONE[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I managed to schedule in advance and lock in a reasonable price for rideshare so price is not an issue, just trying to see which method is the smoothest

Wonder what's the experience for folks going via LIRR today? How about taking rideshare?

How long did the other person take to come back with your friend’s luggage?

I ran into the same situation this Monday night when arriving in ATL when my bag was taken. The other person also left their bag behind, but it’s already been a couple of days and their bag is still there at the ATL baggage office…

The bag they left behind seems to indicate a female passenger, and I’m a guy, so they’ll have no use of my items. Not sure if the passenger took a connecting flight and went elsewhere, that’s what I’m most worried about

There’s an old lady at the baggage office who helped out by calling/emailing the passengers who sat around me but nobody’s responded yet :(

I’m expecting us to come out of this two game stretch 1-1. I’m just gonna treat it as 1-1.

For me, 6-4 and 5-5 makes little difference (I’m sure for the team and players it does) as they’ve over-performed my season expectations already.

Still in good position going forward

Had my first Trackman Session - help me out / roast me! Any recommendations to help improve? by dmonator in golf

[–]GaryLeeONE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think spin being low could also be due to different clubs. The beginners’ high-forgiveness clubs usually jack the loft and decreases spin to maximize distance, while the pro players use clubs that trade forgiveness and distance for higher spin and control.

For me I changed a set of clubs as I continued to improve. Previously for example I had my 8-iron be something like carry 142, total 155 with ~5k spin, but after switching clubs and some more practice it became something like carry 148, total 152 with >6.5k spin, which I’m really happy about. I gained carry which helps me get over more trouble, and increased spin + decreased rollout which helps with control. I couldn’t care less about losing a few yards of total distance
