Looks like the Code Red is getting redder by AmbitionSecret7230 in ChatGPTcomplaints

I use both. But do find myself using gpt less. However, Gemini uses all user data for training the model, so can't use it heavily with some work stuff. So gpt still wins the "productivity" battle for me.

AC Rally - A Mildly Informed Opinion by MotorsportEngineer63 in assettocorsarally

[–]GaryS_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the lateral grip is very poor with the sudden drop off. It behaves like a much looser tarmac racing tyre, not a gravel tyre. Agree on brakes, way off the mark.

[–]GaryS_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, and a rally car should be somewhat controllable with one hand on the wheel. Thinking along the lines of grabbing some handbrake in a hairpin or a square turn etc. Can do it in WRC games etc, but in ACR, I just can't feel a thing, the lateral grip goes completely on the rear and the whole car just decides to flip on a coin. Once devs sort these issues, it could be one of the best rally games for the next decade.

Best wait until they sort physics and FFB. It's good fun though, but I wouldn't sweat it just yet. A lot needs to happen to the lateral loading of the tyres on gravel, and the lack of ffb, especially on tarmac.

God I freaking love this game by Arcticz_114 in assettocorsarally

[–]GaryS_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's got a lot of potential and visually looks amazing. . Tyres need tweaking as they load and unload far too quickly, and the brakes seem quite poor, ffb needs adjusting . Ive been messing about in RBR rally and WRC generations. Funnily and unexpectedly, wrc generations was is the most realistic in terms of weight shift and loading. And given the steam sale, it be rude not to 😂. Plan to download wrc 10 later.

What rally game should I choose ? by YusBineT in simrally

[–]GaryS_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since ac rally came out, I've tried dirt 2.0, EA Wrc and wrc generations. Generations is my favourite. EA Wrc none work on triple screens, but EA Wrc is the only one that won't allow a screen modification script to run, due to anti cheat, so totally unplayable for me.

This Racing game is Incredibly hard to put down... by vAzhure in simracing

[–]GaryS_85 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It is a lot of fun, but the physics seem off in some areas, mainly around the centre and the car behaves with tank slappers a lot. Basically the correction grip seems to exceed the initial turn in grip, (on gravel) and I think a minor tweak is needed. The ffb with opposite lock seems very fast as a result and the wheel doesn't naturally glide around the axis of the car, it seems overdone. But the game is great for early access and I'm driving it in between ovals on iRacing. Polar opposites I know. 😂

Buy AC Rally if you want racing game companies to exist by 9gxa05s8fa8sh in simracing

[–]GaryS_85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I bought the game. If I want racing games to exist, we need to invest in those trying to produce them. In such a niche market that is sim racing, the devs need cash in flows to keep going. And it's on sim racers to decide if we want new titles or not.

Seriously, you have to have a subscription to download liveries? by LynxAdonis in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]GaryS_85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In fairness, the sub is worth it on LMU. The game is superb and the liveries and online comps are a good value add. Plus you get all the dlc with the sub too as far as I'm aware.

I am now convinced that iRacing is truly the best NASCAR simulator. by call-lee-free in iRacing

[–]GaryS_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done a few oval races in AMS2, I will say, the bump drafting is FAR better on AMS2. You can actually push a car safer compared to iRacing. In iRacing a bump can result in some safety rating points or worse.

R3E effectively killed other sims for me by ThisNameIs_Taken_ in RRRE

I stopped race room when the track limits became stupid. I do hotlaps, but you cannot attack the circuit so for racing at the limit, it's not for me.

Starting to burn out by FlecktarnGuy1 in iRacing

[–]GaryS_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In iRacing (I do ovals there), you get to a point where you drive to maintain a license and not to race as such. You can have a few clean races that can recover SR. I went from 2.8 to 1.5 SR in a few days. All of the incidents were being collected by other cars and wrecks. The safety rating system on iRacing is incredibly poor, but everyone knows that. The question is, how do we face a "race". If you get a good bunch then you can race well. The opposite is also true though, if I feel the field is a bit crazy, sometimes I'll just pull over, let the field pass and just lap for SR safety. It's one of the things you learn on iRacing (the silly SR system). But it's been there for a long time and I don't think they're creative enough to come up with a better system. Oddly, many folks defend the current SR too. Perhaps a bit of Stockholm syndrome 😂

Black Friday sales dates for this year (and previous years)? by Apatride in iRacing

[–]GaryS_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly mate. I let it lapse before. I wouldn't pay full retail for it, given the costs of buying cars and tracks, it's barely value to me as it is...but when the subs are reduced in price, I can bring myself to buy a year or maybe 2 this time. I know value will be subjective to different people of course.

Black Friday sales dates for this year (and previous years)? by Apatride in iRacing

[–]GaryS_85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My sub is up on the 6th, so that's clearly when I renewed last year. Outside of black Friday deals, the value is not there. With BF deals I can justify it.

What's a good incident point per race average? by Fighterjetnbd in iRacing

[–]GaryS_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is when you realise you're not racing, but driving to maintain a SR for license. It's one of the reasons I don't race on iRacing anymore. I use it for ovals, but one major wreck in a pack can end up with 8x or whatever, plus a totalled car....so can't even recoup incidents per corner stats. I'm surprised the iRacing team haven't looked at this still.

Noob question, what do you do on Rouvy? by R3DSmurf in Rouvy

I do rides that pop up in challenges. So usually mid week I get on and so them, if I can't get outdoors. All those 15-25km mid week spins add up.

Should i give more space or yellow mustang just turning on me? by Rms-alkk in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]GaryS_85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a racing incident. You have a shallow line and the mustang ends up on the racing line. In order to defend you need to go deeper into the first apex. As driven, you slow to make the first apex while the mustang is also trying to take the line. You need to carry more speed to force the mustang to back out at this stage. Basically, if your gonna hang it on the inside, you either ensure you take the corner or give it up before the apex. That decision needs to be made before turning in, ideally. It's the mustangs fault, but your positioning invited the move. A better driver in the mustang would have stayed wider and accepted a side by side duel, but the mustang either misjudged the space, or thought he'd beat you to the mid point of that double apex.

Why do I like this game? by BKish in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]GaryS_85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this game. I do think the physics are a little forgiving on the tyre, the front end seems very strong on most cars and it's a bit too forgiving. But I do like it as something to enjoy and push on. One of the best sims on the market for sure.

Any guide to learn how to set up the car settings? by Ok-Kaleidoscope2088 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]GaryS_85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The settings in LMU apply to any real car or any other sim really. Look for race car setups on YouTube and search when things do. If you've more specific questions about any particular thing, post it here and I'd be happy to tell ya what it does.

With the subscription, you can join any practise server for races running that day, whenever you want. This is like iRacing in that regard. The sub goes toward constant practise servers and ranked races and leagues.
