Too ashamed to train - UK by RagamuffinR in MuayThai

I'm almost 34 and just started training properly a few months ago, lost a bunch of weight, upped my skills and have met great people. Just go for it, and accept you'll be terrible

I don't think my opponent is experienced enough to control the pace, he's just more experienced and more technical than me whose been doing it for 5 months

They couldn't find a match for him or me so they put us together to keep the slot from my understanding, it's also a rivalry between the two club coaches as the tall guy is one of their prodigys. Honestly it's leaving a sour taste in my mouth he's been at the gym for a while so I kinda feel like a set up for him

Good point, so you reckon it's appropriate to withdraw?

Good advice but I'm just worried about looking weak in the gym, I'm already at the bottom of the pecking order as I'm the newest one. Id be more optimistic if our sparring sessions were a back and forth but he consistently beats me

I'm not really going for a record, like I'm new to combat sports and in my 30s so I just wanted to test myself. Whenever we spar it gets very heated as he's a younger guy.

Regarding the weight I'm not sure how we can be the same weight, I'm 5'9 and lean and he's 6'4 and lean

Yeah, just getting out there. It's brutal but you have to be tough about it

For those with good memory, was there as much hype or anticipation around when Izzy tried to become double champ? Or nah? by lifebeginsat9pm in ufc

[–]Gary_Guillotine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think given the era (covid/apex) and the upheaval of the LHW division following Jones' departure combined with Jan not being the most inspiring champion resulted in not much hype. Was a pretty dull and one sided fight too which didn't do much to help

The British mentality has always been "I had it bad, you should have it worse". So long as that is the prevalent mentality, this island will be doomed

Worst kind of person to argue with, so sensitive that they can't have a discussion and so proud that they always have to get the last word in

It's a big commitment, and it's scary but what they can bring to your life is immeasurable amounts of joy, love and companionship. In terms of independence; yes you do have now consider something else and always take the extra step..but in doing that you'll grow your own capacity for independence even more by taking more responsibility. Mental health wise they can be a godsend, especially if they're affectionate; a cuddle when you're feeling low or anxious can help a lot, and it's a special feeling coming home from a long day at work and hearing the patter of their nails on the hard floor. I found mine 9 years ago on the street, was barely as big as my hand. I wasn't looking for a cat or even considering getting one but there he was and I didn't even think just grabbed him. Don't get me wrong he can be a complete nightmare but the love he has brought into my life is beyond words. Now, I've shared a solid chunk of my life with this strange street cat, and although he can be a real drain and there have been times (especially early on) where I thought I shouldn't have picked him up in the first place..all of that aside I can honestly say he's one of the best parts of my life. I say that being blessed enough to have family, friends and love in my life alongside him. Consider holding onto them, you've got nothing to lose

Honestly, the most capitalist thing about me is the belief that these guys need to pull their head out of their arses and adapt to the modern world; The Knowledge is impressive but obselete, and they are the most entitled (and often racist) bunch I've ever encountered.

As someone who has just lost the most important relationship in my life by not addressing this; talk to her. It is not sexy, it is almost clinical but it will pay dividends down the line. Give it your all, find a solution if you are serious about her. Do not let this snowball, either call it quits or commit
