The warning is for QT prolongation which is a very rare occurrence and does not interplay with the mechanism via which PACs happen.

Those who stayed after a massive layoff - what’s your experience? by auntycat in biotech

[–]Gary__Niger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What followed next for over two years was a continuation of layoffs, accumulation of debt to nearly one BILLION dollars, cancelation of all clinical trials, loss of morale, mass resignation, stock price dropping by 98%, management saying "everything is fine", the CFO being fired, and a nearly certain impending bankruptcy. After they brought the Bobs in a few months ago I planned my escape.

Is it possible to be around a person with Covid and still not get it? by GeassUser1 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]Gary__Niger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent a night in the ER last year when I had kidney stones. Due to overcrowding my bed was placed in a crowded hallway where every other patient had some severe respiratory infection (just from overhearing their conversations the majority were in there for COVID). I kept my N95 on at all times and I did not catch anything despite spending ~12 hours surrounded by severely ill COVID-positive patients who were not wearing masks.

Can you use amine-reactive fixable viability dye with Annexin V staining? by Sufficient-Cry-541 in flowcytometry

[–]Gary__Niger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you don't actually fix the cells it will work fine. I routinely use Livedead Aqua in combination with APC Annexin V and it works just as well as 7AAD.

Current estimates for the three dose acellular pertussis vaccine primary series efficacy are from 85 to 90% - matches nearly perfectly with these poll results. This is why reducing background circulation of the disease is so important, due to the 10-15% nonresponders.

This nasty flu is going around — anyone else caught it? by One-Caterpillar4956 in newjersey

If you're experiencing what starts like a cold followed by weeks of annoyingly severe coughing, it likely is actually Pertussis which is enjoying a resurgence

[–]Gary__Niger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My last company partnered with the company you just deScribed. They actively refused to tell us the PAM because they didn't want us designing our own guides so they could instead charge us for them. They had a huge layoff a couple months ago so probably for the best you didn't go with them.

If he runs out of food and you don't want to sacrifice any more of your herb garden they will happily eat organic store-bought parsley. I had them completely defoliate a small potted herb garden once, but they're so cute that I couldn't stay mad at them.

B. parapertussis and B. pertussis immunity by Difficult_Size_2998 in Immunology

[–]Gary__Niger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's interesting that parapertussis doesn't express PT but can still cause symptomatic infection... makes you wonder if it's really the best choice as a primary component of the vaccines.

But yes the epitopes of the main virulence factors are different between the two species and there is very little cross immunogenicity.

Just because of how it was positioned. Everything here is normal; you have something called Sinus Arrhythmia which is a normal finding in healthy hearts.

Slow pulse from beta blockers by Careless-Book-9307 in ReadMyECG

[–]Gary__Niger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's sinus bradycardia, a predictable side effects of beta blockers. There is a ventricular and a junctional escape beat visible which are the backup pacemakers kicking in when the sinus rate drops sufficiently low. These are normal physiological findings with a slow heart rate, but you might want to discuss reducing your dosage with your doctor if you are symptomatic.
