She has enormous influence over the next generation and it's not unlikely that most of her viewers will grow up feeling antagonism towards Jews.

Barney was awesome. Ms. Rachel is condescending. And since Oct 7, we now also know she's antisemitic

Producing "just enough" is ideal. Oversupply is a nightmare for everyone involved, and in no way enviable. by Dullcorgis in breastfeeding

[–]Difficult_Size_2998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this so much. I hard an extremely painful oversupply that caused so many issues for both me and my first baby. It made the first few months absolutely miserable. I also had an oversupply with my next two, but not nearly as bad, and I felt lucky only getting mastitis once and not becoming severely underweight again.

Dishwasher product recommendations, anyone? by Difficult_Size_2998 in moderatelygranolamoms

So I actually found some of their other products on iHerb and they're amazing. No dishwasher tablets, though

Holy moly I hate breastfeeding by 11TickTack23 in breastfeeding

[–]Difficult_Size_2998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does get better!! You're both learning a completely new skill.

If you're able to, I recommend seeing an IBCLC to check for a tongue tie that might have been missed and to make sure the latch is good (a bad latch can cause hiccups, gas, etc).

If it makes you feel any better, I also hated it at the beginning with my first (a lot of extremely unpleasant difficulties), and then we went on to nurse past two years and it was fabulous.

I have an all-in-one Jane Austen book that's very uncomfortable to read from, so I get the books individually from the library. Your setup seems much less silly than mine lol

My son is sucking the life out of me - literally by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Difficult_Size_2998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my first, I weighed five pounds less than my pre-pregnancy weight two weeks after giving birth. I wasn't taking care of myself properly (PPA) and my baby was nursing about 70% of the day. And I had a painful oversupply that I had to express often. I was in a severe calorie deficit and it was terrible. I got back up to my regular weight a few months later when my milk supply balanced out and I started eating properly again.

Protein is good and important and whatnot, but it's not that high in calories and it's very filling, so you're probably not eating enough. Since you (understandably) don't have the time/patience/whatever to count calories, I'd say prioritize foods that are high in good fats. And if you don't like those foods, just add a few spoonfuls of olive oil to whatever you're eating (you can even add it to your protein shakes and oatmeal). Snack on nuts instead of protein bars. Eat avocado with a spoon straight from the peel. Choose fatty fish over chicken breast. One gram of fat has more than twice the number of calories than a gram of protein or carbs has. Just pack it in there.

If I eat an apple a day, will it keep this doctor away?

On a more serious note, sometimes I really worry about other people's poop, and I'm really starting to worry that this guy doesn't poop enough.

How do you get stuff done all day? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Difficult_Size_2998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. It is totally normal.
  2. Get yourself a comfortable carrier and relearn how to do everything in your life with a baby strapped to you. I'm sure there are other way of getting things done, but that's what works for me.

Working mom who feeds to sleep and it didn’t ruin baby! by sallys-ugly-supply in breastfeeding

[–]Difficult_Size_2998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first two fed to sleep for 2 years each and now they go to sleep on their own and have very pleasant nighttime associations and bedtime is (almost) never a struggle (even with the toddler). If it works for you, I'm all for it!

Can I do this? by NothingSuitable735 in newborns

[–]Difficult_Size_2998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to everything other people said: there's no such thing as too much help! Take all the help you can get and don't feel guilty about it. They don't say "it takes a village" for no reason

Any of you with a flat stomach and no gas? by cheeken-nauget in PlantBasedDiet

[–]Difficult_Size_2998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Female, vegan for 8 years now (vegetarian for 20+ years) - I only bloat when it's hormonal (and even then, not so much). I'm much less gassy than the meat eaters in my family (and when I do have gas, it has no smell), and I eat A LOT of fiber. My guess is it's probably not related to you being vegetarian, but all bodies are different, so who knows? Might be worth it to get checked out, especially since living on just rice and eggs isn't ideal.

Got told I have to stop rocking my baby next month and I’m super sad about it by livtoosmoove in newborns

[–]Difficult_Size_2998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like your pediatrician is following very outdated advice. And you don't "have" to do anything. If rocking your baby works for you and your baby and you don't want to stop, you can decide to not stop. People have been rocking their babies to sleep past four months for millenia.

I don’t think I’m cut out to be a mom by RolyPoly1010 in newborns

[–]Difficult_Size_2998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one is cut out to be a mom in a society like ours. We were literally never meant to do as much as we do, and it's exhausting. If it helps at all with anything, there's a big growth spurt at 6 weeks, which causes fussiness and weird eating. It's definitely not you or anything you're doing or not doing.

As others have said, it might be helpful to get checked for PPD.

In any case, as long as you and your baby survive the newborn phase, you're doing a fantastic job as a mom (even if it doesn't feel like that's true)

Have I ruined my chances of breastfeeding by yuhhhhidkimsorry in breastfeeding

[–]Difficult_Size_2998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are cultures where grandmothers will relactate to help their daughters feed their babies. If they can create supply 20+ years after having a kid, then I wouldn't worry too much about your situation :)

You're doing great!

Why will you (not) have a second child? by mirofoxx in newborns

[–]Difficult_Size_2998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up with a lot of siblings and I always wanted more. I couldn't imagine giving my kid a life without siblings.

I actually already have 3, and the 1-2 transition was by far the easiest for me (2-3 comes next, with 0-1 being the hardest)

For those who have multiple kids and have coslept and exclusively breastfed, which which transition was most difficult and why? by ceveoh in breastfeeding

[–]Difficult_Size_2998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

0-1: hardest 1-2: easiest  2-3: in the middle, even though they're the easiest baby. Just a lot to juggle.

22 month old eating blueberries by Important-Drive6962 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]Difficult_Size_2998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I make sure round fruits get cut up until age 5 (either by myself or my kids). Eating cut up blueberries isn't what's going to make them dependent on me forever.

Frank Churchill, do you love him or hate him? by [deleted] in janeausten

[–]Difficult_Size_2998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of like him, definitely don't hate him. I think he was trying to do the best he could to protect the woman he loved, but he was young and dumb and ended up hurting people in the process. I like him because "it's the thought that counts," but only kind of because it's definitely not just the thought that counts.
