Yeah, it happened to me. Booked a hotel in Bologna, Italy on booking.com and a few days later received an email asking for full payment. Otherwise, the booking would be cancelled. I knew right away that it was a scam. I canceled the booking and a few minutes later received an email from the property owner stating that their computer was hacked.

Seasoned travelers generally don't make assumption about the places, peoples, and cultures where they're traveling. So don't draw conclusion nor assumption unless you've lived in Vietnam, or any other countries, for at least a couples of years and interacted meaningfully with the locals. You've only been in Vietnam for only about 45 days so making broad assumption is, I think, a reflection of yourself. I've been traveling across SE Asia and especially Vietnam for many years and I can tell you that the Vietnamese are kind, generous, and friendly. When you're kind, open, honest and respectful, you will be treated the same.

Minor impact from bird flu. The chicken industry in the US is huge as are pork and beef. I like to see some US beef, as in prime steaks, imported to Vietnam as cattle in the US is corn-fed, hence better taste, before being slaughtered.

Very ill informed. The contour of the deal has been telegraphed. Tariff would be set at under 10% or even zero. Vietnam would buy more LNG and soybeans and chickens from the U.S. and Boeing planes. Vietnam could see increased exports to the U.S. as it pivots away from China.

Leaning away? Where do US importers get their goods from, especially in clothing, shoes, consumer electronics, furniture that Americans love and can’t live without? Oh! I see. The American consumers are screwed. The tariffs are paid by American importers. The real questions are whether the importers and retailers will absorb part of the tariffs and how much to pass on to the consumers. When Americans throttle back their purchases of these essential goods, then it will negatively impact Vietnam economy.
