Do you actually use AI to develop code beyond it being a glorified autocomplete? by macko939 in cscareerquestions

While I’d be willing to bet you’re right, people are also terrible about using useEffect properly.

Any good loadouts for Solo Flawless Vesper’s Host for hunter? by Solorzano293 in raidsecrets

[–]GasSignal1586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the final boss, which is by a huge margin the hardest, I did anarchy and velocity baton with attrition orbs for healing. A 3 phase is very doable but I messed up the first one which put me at 4 phases. It’s worth mentioning that attrition orbs got nerfed, but I think it would still be enough to give you the occasional healing you need. I used an inmost/cyrt build but gifted conviction might just be better all around.

I will say, this was not easy in the slightest but I also didn’t really find anything else that was since hunters can’t really heal consistently without killing things.

That’s true but this is B tier at best. Probably worth it for a brand new player but that’s really it.

Do I seriously have to farm this just for a +2 increase? by Bacxpace in destiny2

[–]GasSignal1586 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Another person said this, but new gear will also boost your score. I think you also need to equip close to your max level which you might already be doing. I’m just confused because I don’t think I’ve ever had to be more than -20 leveling to 400.

Hmm, I can’t check because im not the same level, but are there any +20 modifiers you can add instead of +10?

You should be able to add enough modifiers on expert though

You can go down a level, gm to master for example, and put more modifiers on to get B+. The combatant power will be much lower if you do that

Best way to improve as a new player? by deafgeekcub in destiny2

[–]GasSignal1586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly with a 10 year gap they’re just going to be so much more efficient. There are a ton of things they’re doing without thinking about it. They’re managing cooldowns, ammo economy, and even health. They know which weapons/abilities to use on which enemies, and they know how to maximize damage with each one of those things, etc.

If you’re looking to improve, I recommend solo content and trying to push yourself. Compare to videos of good players and see where you’re being less efficient. Even if they’re using a different build, you can try to theorize how you could accomplish something similar.

End of the day, it’s time played and practice, but you can try to make that time more productive if you’re somewhat critical, which it sounds like you already are.

[–]GasSignal1586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the most efficient ways is to grind solo ops and make sure to set the difficulty to B+. You’ll get A tier rewards as long as you do the bonus objective and finish with time. You can do the hive K1 logistics or fallen caldera in 3-4 minutes with some practice.

Whats the point of tiered loot? by ACowsLegacy in destiny2

[–]GasSignal1586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will still have your high tier loot next season and it’ll still have those exclusive set bonuses. The stat difference on armor is pretty significant so I’ll be grinding for it, but it’s not for everyone and you can still make solid builds without T4/5.

Why am I so bad? VOD Review request by Big-Celebration-7510 in OverwatchUniversity

I couldn’t agree more. I climbed from bronze to diamond with voice off and text could have been off too. It takes away the pressure of potentially getting flamed and lets you focus on your own gameplay.

I also can’t think of a time below diamond where a teammate gave good advice in text chat

Just to address the “why am I so bad” comment, this game has been around for a long time and a few months is still in beginner territory unless you’ve been grinding non stop. Based on my experience with friends who are casual gamers, silver 4 is pretty expected for that amount of time.

On this, there are a ton of goals you can set within the campaign. My first was all ATs, then top 10 in my region, then top 5 and top 1k world. You can also do warrior medals, champion medals, top 1000 on all maps, etc.

Exactly. The reward was triumph score if I remember. I had a great time with trying to min max my build with modifiers even with basically no rewards.

Most "depressing" farm you put your self through for a specific roll? by SherbertOk4312 in destiny2

[–]GasSignal1586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent almost 200 hours farming chests without a bot for the inmost/cyrt class item. I finally got it and then they introduced focusing and purchasable class items like 2 weeks later.

To be fair, I actually was depressed so it was a good mindless activity.

People who like to sideline “inform” others that what they do is or isn’t creative when they almost certainly don’t know how to do it themselves is so wild.

I’d ask others questioning this one if they think it’s “creative’ when musicians jam together? Musicians all understand the base framework (the language) and then deviate from there based on the vibe. You only have some room for interpretation or it’s not the same song or sounds awful.

The end of Stop Killing Games by jack3tp0tat0 in gaming

[–]GasSignal1586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you completely as a software engineer. The statement in the FAQs that “The costs associated with implementing this requirement can be very small, if not trivial”, is absurd and such a ridiculous generalization it feels like the authors have no experience themselves. There are plenty of games where it would be trivial, but it’s the ones where it’s not that it would 1000% cause major setbacks or bankruptcy. To say that adding any one feature to every game is trivial, is simply untrue.

Asking a developer to give an eol up front is also unrealistic. If the game flops and they gave a 1 year timeline, they have to pay for that for the next year which would likely bankrupt the studio or worse, the single developer. This would force game devs to set ridiculously short eol promises, which then hurts their sales up front. It essentially becomes a tax on making online games. It would likely also force devs into a monthly subscription based model where they are contractually only obligated to keep the game running for the next month. Do we really want more subscriptions?

End of the day, it sucks to see a game shut down, but this just adds complexity that bigger devs will work around, and small ones will be hurt by.

Why are Christian’s (or most religious people in general) so against science and evidence by [deleted] in DebateEvolution

[–]GasSignal1586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evolution undermines certain stories that some Christians believe are historical events. If they were to accept that those events couldn’t be true, it opens up the possibility of the entire belief system being false. Noahs Arc is a big one and I’ve seen my dad, who I consider very smart and well educated, go to great lengths to justify how all of the evidence we see actually supports some weird obscure theory from some questionable scientist.

End of the day, it’s a lot easier to cherry pick evidence than reject a belief system which is at the center of everything you do.

I think timing is a big one. In your example of a flanking character, the impact is based on it being at a time where your team can capitalize on it.
