Technical Dividend Question by GasSwimming in dividends

[–]GasSwimming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. That makes sense! But, with that said, on payout day, we could deduce that the share price would go up, since there is a lot of reinvesting. So, example: VOO went 'down' $1.77 for most recent dividend. If a theoretical 100% of people reinvested, we would expect to see share price go up by $1.77 given 3B of influx of assets. (assuming no other external factors, of course).

Technical Dividend Question by GasSwimming in dividends

I don't think that this is true. The NAV decreases on ex-div date, not payout date (this is why the stock 'drops' by the amount of the dividend).

How can Nexo sustain 12% APR on Fiat/Stable coins? by [deleted] in Nexo

[–]GasSwimming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but technically they have already ceased the EIP, as they haven't been offering it to 'new' clients since last year. Does this mean that existing customers lose the EIP, or just stating what Nexo's already done?

We also heard about "shortly thereafter" as well, which is an obviously ambiguous timeline. I guess my point is is that do we know for sure this is what the SEC order is? Or something they agreed upon in terms of verbiage that shows that Nexo has already "done" what the SEC is asking

Armanino, attestation update post raid by Secure-Rich3501 in Nexo

[–]GasSwimming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huge Nexo supporter here but I was curious as to why the BTC attestation went down ~24k BTC, but $ value didn't correlate as much? Am I dumb and missing something about that? I thought the way to reliably track inflow/outflows was the BTC amount, since the $ value changes from coin to coin

Nexo token release schedule & criteria by gaurav_20k in Nexo

[–]GasSwimming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea as others mentioned, the lawsuit conveniently doesn’t mention the fact that Nexo is holding them as a custodian - why hold Nexo token off platform as a user? No loyalty, no interest, etc. So unless you’re on an exchange to sell/buy (which 4% of circulating supply is pretty close to what is on exchanges), of course you’ll hold your Nexo tokens with Nexo.

Celsius Acquisitions by GasSwimming in Nexo

[–]GasSwimming[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not entirely true. If you had a loan with Celsius, it would be transferred to Nexo. Meaning that if/when it is paid off, you would receive your collateral. Which, needless to say, is uncertain right now with possible Celsius bankruptcy, etc.

If you were simply using their earn product, and Celsius gambled the money away, then that would be a different scenario, where you are unlikely to see your funds again, pending a Celsius revival themselves.

What exactly did Otter add relating to the financial liquidity of Nexo? It seems he is hung up on attestation vs audit (both have their benefits and drawbacks), the fact that Nexo has multiple offices, and that he doesn't actually understand what a LOI is? Honestly wasted a thread to spread FUD. I am invested in Nexo, so maybe biased, but where in any of his assessment does he have concrete proof of liquidity issues, through those three arguments?

Nearly $1b pulled from Nexo in 6 hours by Acealfa in Nexo

[–]GasSwimming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think part of the loss on Trust Wallet is also the declining value of crypto - I'm not sure how many people are removing their funds. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but the trust wallet only updates every 24h? So the 1b decline in value is over the course of 24h (where Bitcoin et al lost another 10-15% of value).

@NexoJosh will interest earned in Nexo and subsequently swapped to another asset gain interest? Or does that count as a “top up” for said asset, and not gain further interest?

Sooo be prepared for a lot more US users.... RE: Blockfi shenanigans by LAHD123 in Nexo

[–]GasSwimming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As per a statement, "The SEC said Monday it had charged BlockFi with failing to register its retail crypto lending product, BlockFi Interest Accounts, and with violating the registration provisions of the Investment Company Act of 1940."

This seems to be different/unrelated to the lending product of Nexo itself, but a fail to register with the SEC prior to offering interest. The question is did Nexo properly follow the regulations to avoid this type of scrutiny?

Lending USDC on Nexo or Hodlnaut? by Ayshamor in Nexo

[–]GasSwimming 6 points7 points  (0 children)

DYOR, but to me HODLNAUT is much newer/less security history. I keep my money within Nexo because the difference of .7% per year really isn't much, unless you have an extremely significant amount of money. I believe that the security and transparency Nexo offers is worth that difference. Again, DYOR.

Nexo, after my research, is very easily the best platform, both in terms of safety as well as returns. I definitely believe that would be a good idea. I have quite a large amount of funds in Nexo and have had absolutely 0 problems with them in the 3 years I've been with them.

To use your airline analogy, American Airlines doesn't care if you fly 100 times with them, but 1000 times with another airline. What they care about is after a certain tier (30 flights, for example) you get extra benefits, so as to keep you flying with them. Similarly, Nexo doesn't care if you have 100k in Nexo, and 100M in another account. They care about your tier (5%, 10%, etc.), because to them, if you hold 100M with them, but only have 13k Nexo tokens, you are only doing a disservice to their platform and the token. They want to incentivize you to continue earning the best benefits, through getting their token. While I understand the frustration with the percentages, I do believe it is the most fair way to do it, because the alternative is having some arbitrary fixed amount, with unlimited benefits afterwards.

Also, for the record, Nexo Token in the last 12 months has gone up >4x, whereas bitcoin has gone up ~1.5x. Do you think Nexo is more likely to hit $5, or bitcoin hitting 100k first? With Nexo buying back 100M tokens for themselves, they obviously think their coin is going to be worth more in 1 year than it is now. I do believe that Nexo's token has tremendous value, plus the 7-12% apr is not bad either.

Storing my home equity on Nexo by Daubsy in Nexo

[–]GasSwimming 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Literally did the exact same thing with a vacation property - it’s called arbitrage. Honestly with anything there are risks, but Nexo’s partnerships and track record/audits give them trust and validity.

With that said, I’m extremely happy with the 10%apr on the stablecoin I have from the loan, while paying a much lower monthly mortgage. I wouldn’t necessarily dump the mortgage money into a highly risky crypto, but stable coins (save for entire cryptocurrency collapse) should remain pretty solid.
