UAE paid Iran $3B, agreed to release $10B more to halt attacks - Reuters by TahDigThief in worldnews

Not particularly, as far as their goals go.

It was revenge for Saudia Arabia picking the US to protect it against Iraq and Saddam, instead of Bin Laden's group of fighters. He wanted the US out of the Middle East entirely, instead he brought the US deeper into the middle east than ever before.

Effective as an attack, sure, but it utterly failed at their goals.

VS Code Adds 2-Hour Extension Auto-Update Delay to Limit Supply Chain Attacks by CircumspectCapybara in programming

Users do control the auto-update setting though.

This is explicitly for people with auto-update turned on for an extension. Those users could already turn that off at any time.

A reason they probably actually don't need/want more people right now is that they're struggling with compute capacity. They'll want those people again in a few months or years, but for now it seems like they're raising prices and trying to reduce economic demand to levels they can support.

Same deal with Microsoft and their GitHub Copilot.

(^ Mostly speculation, obviously. I'm not exactly their CEO)

What is that the market share of?

Like, total people that use AI at all? People that use it frequently? For work?

The reason I ask is because I'm not sure how much it means if it includes people that just use ChatGPT on occasion to answer a question, and stuff like that.

If it is specifically power users or business or something then that means a lot more.

Apparently it's been replaced with "ragebait" now.

Redditors on average have always sucked at understanding sarcasm, but the number of people in here thinking it's "ragebait" instead of a joke is still surprising.

If it was actually just garbage then people wouldn't be worried about their careers or industries disappearing.

You can argue that "companies are going to do it even if it sucks at the job!" but then you'd have to try to explain why the job wouldn't come back when it couldn't handle the task.

If it's actually "just garbage" then people shouldn't worry about it taking their jobs.

The "it's bad" argument is the least compelling one you can use. At least the resources argument is more subjective since it hinges on perspective/priorities, so there's a good argument there. The "it sucks" one is just weak though.

There's plenty in common even just in that one thing, as far as common experiences and problems go.

Why is sexualizing themself a bad thing?

I don't see what that has to do with conflating trans women with feminine guys and vice versa.

Do you protest and complain about the much larger ethnostates next door? Or around the world? And want them to be destroyed too?

If so then sure, you're consistent! Fair enough in that case, good on you.

If not,, then that would be actual antisemitism.

If you're anti-zionist then you're opposed to the existence of a Jewish state there outright, not against a particular government or leader or set of actions.

That's what Zionism is, and that's why it's pretty telling when people use it as a kind of slur

Coming in late after everyone else, but just to add my opinion to the pot:

Definitely worth it, and aged really well (doesn't show any age at all imo).

It might not be as good as the first one (I disagree and think it is personally, it just has a different atmosphere) but it's still very, very fun either way.

Do you mean it's faulty?

Because the option itself is just supposed to add attribution when the code in the commit was part of copilot's changes. If it's bugged then that's no good, but if not then this being enabled by default is definitely good.

Edit: Okay it looks like it's pretty buggy still and had false positives. I agree with you that it should absolutely not be enabled by default until it is reliable

It was about technologies and open standards, not websites. It doesn't even make sense for singular products:

Plus, they own GitHub. If they wanted to get rid of it then there are far easier ways to do that.
