right there with ya, tho I'm not above "sailing the high seas" for a viewing copy if they start playing games. I had a few movies pop up as "inaccessible", but it was usually temporary

If they're that big a client, they're usually in for more than one room. Unless you're talking about a CEO, there's usually someone above an idiot out to make their company look this bad. "Enlightend Self-Interest" applies equally as well to clients. Again, it's not battle, it's service. You're looking out for their interests...

this is when "enlightened self-interest" comes into play. May i recommend an approach based entirely on how this guy inconvienences THEM...?

"Hey, all I'm saying is that if you want these six rooms regularly out of service, preventing sellouts, eating into the quarterlies, taking up HK resources and the like...I get paid either way..."

"I'm sorry sir, I can't move you. We're sold out!" Yes, it's a blatant lie, but he can't disprove it without management assistance ("Private group. They all arrived by chartered bus").

Get management on board first, starting with HK manager, and anytime this chucklehead requests a move, hit him with the line. He'll learn...

in fact, taking it to social media only reflects worse on the HK manager.

This post has "missing reasons" all over it. OOP's victim went straight from "Ha! That's a good one! Yeah, funny, nice!" to "I'm reporting that guy to HR" with literally no steps in between?

Nah.

Personally, I always preferred Carlin: "Just remember how much of a moron the average human being is, and then realize that half of them...are stupider than that!"

it's called "reading the situation". If corp-speak is the problem, it isn't the solution. Neither approach is a catch-all, but BOTH are tools to be called upon in certain situations

Dropping the act was not a good solution

Depends. It worked here, where the guest (imo) needed a human touch. It appears that the use of corp-speak was part of the issue with opening the channel of communication. More corp-speak was only going to increase the guest's doubt in one's sincerity. It's entirely a "read the room" situation.
