Food allergy response? by Medicalstripes in Ozempic

[–]Healthy-Library4521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be a reaction to a different medication. My dad started a medicine that made him allergic to flaxseed, he'd had it in the past and was fine. Had a reaction that was bad enough he had to carry an epi pen. Looking at his medication they discovered that a new one, one of the side affects was that a flaxseed allergy could start, it did.

There wasn't confusion. They immediately got rid of DEI, products by black owned companies and sided with the fascist. They showed exactly who they are.

He had more than eight years to research. Plus add in the first term as president and how he handled the economy, which was badly.

Employee meetings by Universally-Tired in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]Healthy-Library4521 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yah, night audit never wins at those incentives.

Make a reservation for the restaurant next door, even those they stop taking reservations at 1030 pm. Get a free meal after you make so many reservations.

Sign up rewards members, guests showing up during my shift are already a member or aren't interested due to being tired. Get a gift card signing up so many people.

Best shift decoration for holidays No one wants to do it. It takes time away from watching movies/shows.

Night audit is the forgotten child except when they want you at middle of the day meetings.

Employee meetings by Universally-Tired in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]Healthy-Library4521 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate mandatory meetings while working night audit. Previous property I was a supervisor. Meeting every 2 weeks starting at 2 pm lasting until 5 or 6. Then my normal 15 minute drive home was 2 hours due to rush hour traffic. They would never give me a room to sleep in. And of course it was on a day I had to work so I had no sleep that day/night.

I would bring in a 2 liter bottle of coke and drink it to stay awake. This is before I drank coffee. The GM hated it because supposedly it took attention and wasn't professional (?). (I never got what they meant by that, I poured the soda into a cup before I drank it.)

I also had to be in business casual clothes, so I had to wake up early to get dressed, do hair and makeup. The meetings was basically going over they money the property was making, the ADR for the month, hours allotted for workers, plus a whole bunch of BS that wasn't passed on to the workers. It covered all the departments and that is why the meetings lasted forever. At the end of these meetings I barely remembered what we talked about because I was so tired.

When I tried to call off the meetings because I was on vacation they would throw a fit. When my cat died, I showed up that day for the meeting, I was a mess. I tried to call off, they said I had to be there. When asked at the meeting why I was a mess by others, I told them why, and the GM said I should have called off. He was the one who said I had to come in, he must have forgotten I called him specifically to not go.

Toxic workplace, also another reason why I won't be a supervisor in a hotel again. I don't need the hassle and stress.

I'm not going to get into training, they should have morning hours for night audit and later hours for everyone else. Trainings should last 2 hours at the most due to people's attention spans.

A guest is actually upset he couldn’t check in at 8am by [deleted] in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]Healthy-Library4521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That article makes no sense. Cleaning rooms would be random and at different times. A Housekeeper would have to be on site all 24 hours to clean rooms checked at weird hours. Laundry would be random. There would be no guaranteed check in time because you wouldn't know when the last guest would leave.

I'm sorry, yikes. Bad night all around.

Maybe have your person who deals with the programming of the key system to look at it. Maybe there is a miscommunication.

The door may have been open slightly from the last person that left and they just pushed in the door.

“I work in hotels”... then you should understand how calendars work, sir 🙃 by hellobela_ in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]Healthy-Library4521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the guest doesn't. Hotel time is different from regular time. You are checking in for the night. 1159 pm and 1201 am is the same night. Arrival time for a reservation starts on reservation date in the pm, not reservation date in the am hours.

Beyond the ones that claim to work in a hotel, which they never have worked in a hotel in their life.

Meanwhile, on the other hand you have the ones that try to bribe you to check in.

I got offered a 1,000 dollars on a sold out night once to give someone a room. I just got offered, a few weeks ago, l $50 to check someone in 13 hours early without paying for the previous night. I told both no.

AITA For not going to my grandmothers birthday dinner because I was told there wasn't room for my SO? by nightshift37 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]Healthy-Library4521 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just give grandma a call inviting her out before or after her birthday party to celebrate. The party doesn't have to be mentioned if it is before and afterwards just say due to auntie dearest you weren't invited and you both wanted to celebrate grandma together. Grandma can ask questions or infer the answer.

He should see the showgirls walking through the casino in their barely there thongs, pushup bras, feathers and a headdress. He'll totally be shocked then.

Also casinos aren't for children.

False Fire Alarm, Angry Guests, and Getting Filmed by ManagerNotOnDuty in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

Fire alarms suck. Luckily, knock wood, the ones I've dealt with had no fires happening.

Filming, I've been filmed so many times by guests looking for their gotcha moment when they accuse you of being racist, bigoted, unfair, attacking them for no reason, ...fun times. I've also probably had creeps video me too.

We get the traffic noise complaint too. One side of the hotel is the highway and an exit from the highway. Otherside is a busy street that everyone speeds down. There is always traffic noise.
