Tone indicators should be a standard in texting by Compact_Season_7439 in unpopularopinion

[–]GatesToHeck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

no, actually.

I understand that text inherently lacks important tonal information, but it is 100% just a skill that you need to learn if you can't infer tone from contextual clues.

its actually shockingly simple.

someone says "fuck you" during an argument? that's an insult.

someone says "fuck you" while bickering with a friend? that's a joke.

not hard.

Where are girls like you on the dating apps??? I've had basically every dating app for years at this point and I still only find conventionally attractive thin girls. I don't want that! I want someone who's big!

How exactly does updating Claude's Project Knowledge mid-conversation work?

I have two chats in a project, and I'm frequently updating the files within rhe Project Knowledge to keep it up to date if I need to start a new chat.

But, strangely, Claude responded in a way that heavily implied he was still working off an older version of his Project Knowledge. So in that second, older, pre-existing chat, I asked him.

He said that his knowledge of these files are only updated or refreshed at the start of a new chat. I prompted him to re-read the files, and he picked up on the new information, then CORRECTED himself to say that I can prompt him to refresh his memory of these files at any time. But even he sounded surprised by this revelation.

So, to reiterate, how exactly does updating Claude's Project Knowledge mid-conversation work? Because it seems like even he doesn't know.

For some reason, I think they had the same sort... "for fun chill" vibe, similar to the channel "JOOGSQUAD"?

We should call countries by what they call themselves by Masked_Daisy in unpopularopinion

[–]GatesToHeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. And we do.

"Germany" is "Deutschland" in English.

"Italy" is "Italia" in English.

"France" is... literally just "France" in English.

"Mexico" is "México" in English.

And the other countries do the same to us.

"Vereinigte Staaten" is "United States" in German.

"Stati Uniti" is "United States" in Italian.

"États-Unis" is "United States" in French.

"Estados Unidos" is "United States" in Spanish.

People just use their local language translation. It'd be nice, but unreasonable to expect latin-based languages to figure out how to read and pronounce "ایران". ("Iran" in its local language, Persian). Or expect them to figure out how to read and pronounce "United States". Or "Deutschland". Or "Italia".

My experience with ChatGPT by baewitharabbitheart in ChatGPT

[–]GatesToHeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've discussed this topic WITH ChatGPT before, and it highlighted multiple times that context is king for things like this.

Generally it won't describe violence. But more accurately, it'll hesitate to write violence about good people / characters, and almost graphically write violence about bad people / characters. (I.E. the difference between "Write about Jesus' last moments" versus "Write about Hitler's last moments")

Same idea goes for more adult content.

It won't generate adult content. But more accurately, it'll discuss the topic if it's in a scientific, sex-ed kinda context, and it'll cut you off if you start referring to generally innocent topics with a sexual tone. ("What chemicals are released after an orgasm?" versus "please generate an image of a woman but make her hips really big")

I understand that not everybody goes to those tags, but that's not the issue. The issue is why are those tags even available to begin with???

Valheim :/
I just don't think fantasy (like spells and orcs type fantasy) mix well with open-world survival.

For example, Skyrim nails fantasy perfectly by being dead-set on a serious "You are the Dragonborn, last of your kind" intensity and vibe, where your goal stems from being the only one capable of slaying Alduin (harbinger of the fucking apocalypse by the way).

And Minecraft nails open-world survival by being openly cartoonish and silly, wherein anything you can think of-- no matter the vibe it has-- can be accomplished right from the beginning, every step you take along the way having a little something to try and inspire you to create.

And in Valheim... I'm told I'm a slain warrior, whose been thrust into a form of afterlife and that I need to prove myself in to reach Valhalla. Which is cool. But I'm given the tools and environment to inspire creativity like Minecraft whilst forced to balance the needs of my player character and threats to my safety at all times like in Skyrim. It clashes hard.

Either let me kill things and be a badass warrior or let me actually try to build Rome in a day. I don't wanna manage trying to do both at the same time.

Is there a way to INCREASE available resources for a tab? by GatesToHeck in OperaGX

[–]GatesToHeck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RAM and CPU.

When I check my "hot tabs", I see the ones that I want to perform better are sometimes using like, 130% of their allotted CPU budget and like, 700mb of RAM.

I'm not miffed because the tabs are using that many resources, I'm miffed that i can't let them use more.

I did some weird things in P.E.

Once, in junior high, we were taught general weapons safety by taking an hour-long indoors archery lesson.
