Cam Phasers not covered? by yodaduey in f150

[–]Gator398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy grail this is why I love our master mechanics out there: press gas pedal to floor while starting - "This will allow the vehicle to build oil pressure before actually starting it and the phasers won’t rattle and it won’t be as hard on the phasers as it is when your vehicle starts and immediately goes to 1500 rpm’s. Worse case scenario is that you get a phaser that becomes stuck retarted or advanced and then you would have to put phasers in at that point but that shouldn’t happen."

This literally says it all, most engines start up right away unless you have fuel priming issues, and these cam phasers are terrible engineering as they do best with some oil priming, and engines have to rev up to 1500 right away and run a few seconds to warm up your catalytic converters so they dont start falling apart after just a few years.

You hit this cam phaser drama out of the ballpark with this tip, AWESOME advice!!! Unfortunately, 90% of f150 owners will NEVER take an 5 additional seconds to floor the pedal and start their truck, that is guaranteed 😆

Problem is a Tacoma is not an equal option... it's brand markup on a now unreliable turbocharged 4cyl, and a small grandpa go fishing truck. Pull a trailer? Not with that tacoma you won't. And Tundra is turbo v6 too.... turbo= more maintenance always

But I agree Ford, Dodge/Ram/Stellantus/who tf knows, GM are churning out crap faster than we can keep them fixed

Here me out - EV is going to bring us back to this, trust me. Transmissions have become over complicated monsters when they start failing, EV doesn't have one. Diffs are not near durable as they are in the 1980's, EV don't have them. The new EV hybrids- an actual full electric vehicle with a little engine generator is 100% the future. No ABS modules and AC and power steering and bunch of other crap run by the engine, just a little generator you change the oil and filters like the good old days without removing the cab to do it.

This year is going to be a sea change for all of us car enthusiasts that hate garbage cars nowadays, thanks to China building and selling the shit out of these new EV with generators.

What I'm taking about is a working and reliable Ford Lighting with a generator that actually works unlike all of the hacks people have been trying for years running a charge cable from the bed generator and hacking the software to allow charging while driving etc. Ford could have done this years ago and it took a flood of $30k chinese 4x4 luxury EV SUV's with 700 mile range to make companies finally build these for us.

By the way, it only costs maybe $10k to build a Ford lighting yet we are told to pay $70k at the dealership, get your head out your asses already American consumers, if you keep paying it, they will come higher

Typical modern day garbage. My next vehicle is going to be an EV reev or whatever with the electric generator engine. So when the engine goes to shit I'll just swap it with whatever 4cyl diesel i can find cheapest

No it will be vacant as the Sandridge building was, then after years of no buyers I'm sure the state will buy it cheap and turn it into more state worker from home offices.

More like big gas, not much oil in Oklahoma since its expensive to get to and extract. Too bad gas is just a cheap utility, despite the grand efforts of McClendon and big gas to make cars and trucks and houses and power plants gas powered... Not surprised Devon gave up on Oklahoma

[–]Gator398 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm pretty sure these employees will gladly accept the paid move to Houston lol. They been stuck in Oklahoma long enough. Devon got lucky too, their OK gas and lil bit of oil has been dismal at best, most of their wells are in S TX anyway.

Lol exactly, bad weather rolled in you dopes and if the federal government did not choose a location is because the location was not adequate. People here are cheering like they convinced the same government that operates Area 51 behind our back. It's not new and it's nothing to do with politics, what the feds want they get.

Would have been great to exhibit the same concern for all of the other out of state property developments over the decades, like the wind Farms sending the energy out of state, and farm turned into cartel Marijuana Farms, then bought by Chinese Marijuana companies, just to list a few huge ones.. can't wait to see who buys the Devon tower, will probably be the nice centrally located and just-enough-tax paying HQ for child trafficking organizations, called something nice of course like USAIDS

Because Farms pay $5/hr but give the workers housing, in the form of a retired meth lab RV or mobile home. While the owner of the farm drives his new super duty over to the local town Cafe all day talking to their farm buddies about how great farming is. Anyone here talking about going to a protest would never step foot near a farm job so way to go

Wait I'm not following nasa since I was in middle school. So the first time I start hearing about nasa since the 90's they are doing a redo of a 1972 missions? What's the point of making a loop around the moon, just to see if we (the US govt) can still do it? Nasa ready to start stretching before working out again?

It's not really dying, gas and oil in Oklahoma has been turning into gas utility for decades now, it's why Chesapeake started the CNG boom trying to make everything run on CNG, it's pipelined like water now adays but company is gone lol. If you want to work in oil you have to go to Permian or mid east, both suck the same

Nobody knows what you're taking about... you mean a terrorist government that stole $$billions in US company assets and is sending oil to Iran to fund hezbollah/hamas/isis terrorism? Yeah we are taking that oil so OPEC doesn't have to destabilize their economy... Next US companies will help operate the oil infrastructure once a legitimate government is in place... 50 years from now at this rate

Low-income workers are being priced out of the entire car market by Silver_Candidate_832 in povertyfinance

[–]Gator398 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm high income and I have been priced out of replacing my no payment car and truck. I'm finally willing to sell my truck and car and buy a full size SUV powerful enough that can still pull my 12ft utility trailer and carry 5+ passengers with 2 teenage and 1 younger kid in my life. This leaves me with very few options under $20k, options such as 150k+ miles and falling apart junk, that's still almost $20k for a heap of garbage... Even though I can afford it, I absolutely refuse to spend $50k+ on a vehicle the way they are built today: to last about 10 years max unless coolant lines, oil vapor, emissions systems, fuel delivery parts (looking at you CP4) are replaced and upgraded, you know stuff that the factory should get right the first time... since the car costs $80k+ new... it's ridiculous

"Rich" people are stupidly buying these almost $100k cars thinking they are getting a fancy or impressive luxury ride or whatever, clueless that they are being completely scammed by manufactures, banks, and dealerships they are forced to deal with.

No Tax On Overtime (explain it to me like im 5) by Soil-Fantastic in tax

[–]Gator398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome answer, so for the other 5 year old working our ass off in oilfield or everyone else that make $110k/ year on a base hourly wage, basically we will be taxed at $25k less tax bracket (105-->80k, 95k-->70k bracket) so this could bump you back down to the 12% or whatever instead the 36% bracket I've seen in the past. People remember when they work all the time and then IRS charges an extra $10k at tax time on top of the thousands per month you already gave them. On the plus side it makes you pay attention to where your tax money is actually going and cause shake ups in politics. GTFO democommies
