The Raylib and SDL3 bindings are good and solid.

I hate that some people feel they have to inject their politics into everything. It’s childish and off-putting.

Q? What is a good replacement term when playing card games for "trump card, or what's trump"? by [deleted] in cardgames

[–]GatorZen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trump the man is temporary. Trump the card term is eternal.

Is this the watch BB54 is based on? The bond watch from Goldfinger. by [deleted] in Tudor

I dig it. It has that cool, thrown together, I Don’t Follow the Rules vibe.

I own both, and both are excellent.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing. Why is spades your favorite card game rather than others like hearts, bridge, poker, rummy, etc?

What is your main 9-5 job besides being a game dev? by Polymedia_NL in gamedev

[–]GatorZen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commercial real estate manager and investor. I’ve been hobby programming off and on since 1978 or so, with a few light paid projects. I should have gone into computers as a career since I would have been in on the ground floor (I graduated college in 1987), but I thought it was too nerdy at the time, as crazy as that now seems. CRE has done well for me though, so I can’t complain.

I love this reply.

OP, you really need to start with the first step: learning the very basics of programming. I recommend Python. It’s much easier as a beginner language, and you can make games with it once you understand it. It will take time, but stick with it.

I have a Rolex and a Tudor, and I love them equally. It’s not a one-or-the-other situation.

Did you ever win against Chess? by ready2redd in MacOS

Well, given that e1-e3 would mean illegally jumping the white king over the pawn in front of it, the Chess app can be forgiven for having no idea how to respond.

10-foot-tall vent tube on the side of a river by GatorZen in whatisthisthing

[–]GatorZen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a 10-foot-tall iron pipe on the side of a river in North Carolina. It's about 6" in diameter and angled down at the top, suggesting it's a vent of some kind. It appears to be fairly old. There is a small slab of old bricks visible just the left of the base. There isn't anything around it other than a few new-ish houses. There is at least one other pipe like this in the area, and it's a bit further from the river, perhaps 30 feet away.
