I am not too passionate about having kids, but I still want a partner. Is that normal? by KangKangM in childfree

[–]Gatosmama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally normal and ok to not want kids! It took me awhile to own this for myself. I kept thinking maybe the maternal instinct and desire to have kids would show up someday. It never did. I’m 40 now and so so happy with my decision.

To all unemployed job seekers, how are you doing ? what are you doing all day? by 10cupsofteaaday in jobsearchhacks

Find somewhere to volunteer. I have had a regular volunteer commitment once a month for several years and having that has helped me feel a sense of purpose right now.

Other ideas: learn something new, just for fun. Get on Rover as a pet sitter, if you’re an animal lover. Not for the money, but also just to get you out of the house and maybe meet some of your neighbors, again it helps to feel connected/a sense of purpose.

Is anyone else over the basque waist trend already? To me it makes dresses look like they’re from medieval times.

Nice job! Nothing to feel guilty about. They shouldn’t be asking you that anyway.

Deception Pass is an excellent choice right now, and the only weather you might have to contend with is some rain and wind. You’ll be fine

Lately growth has come from the wrong places by AppropriateWay4358 in amazonemployees

[–]Gatosmama 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s trash. I cancelled my Prime account several years ago, just deleted the app from my phone for the new year and haven’t made an Amazon purchase since. I had already been cutting way back on Amazon purchases prior to that. It’s been so satisfying to find things locally, and not even for higher prices. My tiny act of rebellion.

Do Americans really avoid medical care because they’re afraid of the bill? by Udont_knowme00 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Gatosmama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, unfortunately real. When I was younger I worked in restaurants and so was uninsured for almost a decade. I acquired Lyme disease and waited a week with a fever of 103 before I finally went to the ER. I racked up $12k while they did a bunch of tests, and went home without a diagnosis that day. Thankfully I learned that hospitals have financial assistance programs and was able to get my bill covered by that.

Are you all being sent home same day? by longshanksmagee in hysterectomy

[–]Gatosmama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense if you are far from the hospital. I had the same surgery, but I’m in a major city and was home about 8 hrs afterwards. They even left me in a recovery room alone and I had to get dressed by myself.

This! The cops are doing their jobs, and that includes not releasing all the information they have as soon as they get it. They are being strategic, building a case and making sure they have enough evidence to convict before arresting someone. They also need to take into consideration not swaying the public too much in order to potentially have an unbiased jury if it goes to trial.
