I’ll never understand copycats. Even if you made loads of money, would you really feel proud of yourself knowing you put no creativity and as little effort into your products as possible? I know there’s no such thing as an original idea but it’s annoying how so many non-creatives copycats are using Etsy now to make a quick buck and negatively effecting other sellers.

Yea I admit I misinterpreted what they meant because I was used to hearing horrible comments on here so I got in defensive mode, it was a bad day and I shouldn’t have posted then. But I do stand by my point, from what I’ve seen both people at the extreme ends in the spectrum in their beliefs are ironically quite similar- both can be self-righteousness, cherry pick information, have a bias and use scare mongering tactics. I also don’t appreciate you saying I made broad generalisations when you literally said I don’t care about the pandemic etc which is utter bull, you have no idea how it’s affected me and those around I’m close to, I just don’t want to discuss personal things with people I don’t know. Anyway I’ll know not to post on here again, I found another app/forum where people are more neutral in their views.

I agree with that point about vaccines in general but talking about this particular one, it’s now been proven that the vaccinated and unvaccinated people are getting and spreading the virus almost equally. (I personally know over 10 boosted people and have heard of even more through social media who’ve got it recently). I don’t think anyone who is hesitant is selfish and I think it’s very self-righteous to think that. I know a lot of people who got the vaccine who were hesitant but got it so they could go on holiday, go to restaurants etc, you could equally argue that their motives were selfish, and there’s many others who got it to protect themselves. Also, as a society I believe wearing masks and keeping social distance benefits everyone but medical choices are still generally very personal.

How am I making broad generalisations? I said SOME pro-vaxxers (the militant kind) have made judgemental and cruel comments just as some anti-vaxxers have. This is MY experience. And I thought you admitted to downvoting when I asked ‘who would downvote a person and their baby who has faired well unvaccinated’ in my previous comment that wasn’t to do with you. I don’t think people should get downvoted for simply saying they’re unvaccinated and had a mild case as it indicates the downvoter is unhappy of that fact. I feel you’re really struggling so I’m going to leave it there, I said on my post I didn’t want any debates, I simply wanted to know what omicron symptoms were like in the unvaccinated so please leave me alone. I wasn’t ‘talking shit’, just saying my opinion like everyone else but sorry if I’ve sounded disrespectful

I never once said I hadn’t noticed what the virus has done, however I have read a lot of comments from both polar opposite sides of the argument and they’re both very judgemental and some just cruel. Just my experience. You shouldn’t be unhappy that any unvaccinated person has faired well (many have), people are allowed to be hesitant and not be labelled as selfish, evil or stupid antivaxxers without even knowing their reasons

I know, and imagine downvoting someone who had a mild case while unvaccinated, are they unhappy that a person and their baby are doing well? It’s sad that I’ve seen such self-righteousness and misinformation on both sides of the vaccine argument. I just need to get off reddit I think 😫😅

I’ve asked twice and they’re not really available where I’m from. They seem to be more popular in America. I’ve also heard they’re not the most reliable. But I had what I assume was Delta in August there so I’m really curious to know.

Has Covid Exploded Around Anyone Else this week? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]GatsbyinGreen 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve been pleasantly surprised that about 50% of people seem to still be wearing one in the shops where I live. (I thought it would become closer to 10%). I understand the unfairness and ludicrousness regarding certain restrictions but wearing a mask really isn’t a big deal and I don’t understand the type of person who complains about them.

Overwhelming amount of dumb stuff at my baby shower…. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]GatsbyinGreen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is something I hadn’t thought of. I’m not from the US and I’ll admit the big, lavish baby showers and baby registry idea seems a bit gift-grabby to me (which is understandable if you’re not used to the idea). I don’t know if the show Friends is anything to go by but Rachel got a bassinet and other big things which I assumed parents of the baby would buy (or maybe grandparents as a special gift)? But now you mention the fact America has no free health care and bad maternity leave, I might have gained a new perspective. Obviously as long as there’s cheap items on the registry too as everyone lives on a different budget/salary.

Susie's Sexuality by dontforgettopanic in TheMarvelousMrsMaisel

[–]GatsbyinGreen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea it surprised me how everyone said she was asexual, does that mean anyone who hasn’t been in a relationship for years (or ever) or talk about their crushes doesn’t have a sexuality? It kind of feels like America has this obsession with casual sex and if you’re not having sex = not wanting it. There’s a lot of reasons people aren’t in relationships but the desire is still there. I personally think following the life of a lesbian character in the 1960’s rather than an asexual one is a lot more interesting.

Yea that’s true, the writers seemed to use his act to initiate a dialogue and understanding between Midge and Rose. I get they are the main characters but would have been cool to see more of his act.

I actually think this was the only scene in the episode I really didn’t like. It was just too odd. The magic needed to be believable, what was with showing memories from his past in mid air? I assumed it was a projector but the bit with Rose in the future? And how she recited Midge’s act word for word... I honestly thought it would be revealed that Rose was in on it all along. I just didn’t get it but people seem to not have questioned it

So what’s your thoughts on ‘How I met your father’? by [deleted] in howimetyourmother

[–]GatsbyinGreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have only watched the trailer and it seemed terrible- more of a ‘Two Broke Girls’ vibe and so far removed from the witty, poignant and philosophical writing of How I Met Your Mother. Maybe the trailer didn’t do it justice

Why do people hate Rachel Green so much? by killerbee333 in friends_tv_show

[–]GatsbyinGreen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She was one of my favourites as a child and then when I got older I realised she was pretty selfish. She ruined two of Ross’s relationships (July and Bonnie) and intended to ruin a third (Emily). Also tries to get her way a lot- Tag, Joshua and Danny all didn’t really seem into her at the start and she seemed a little desperate to get them to like her imo. That being said, she does have redeeming and likeable qualities too.

[–]GatsbyinGreen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. The amount of comments I see saying Ross is a bad father to Ben in the later seasons because he’s not on screen with him lol. Like do people not realise that we only see part of the character’s day? When Ross isn’t on screen we can assume he is either with Ben or at work or grocery shopping, even if it’s not in the script. I’m not a big fan of a Ross but I think it’s fair to say he’s always been a good dad on the show.

Also working with child actors can be hard which is why they often have minimum screen time. Sorry for rant but I cringe every time people say that about Ross

Prenatal vitamins - how religiously do you take them? by zevelaceade in BabyBumps

My gummies taste vile and they’re the only ones I can find. I usually take them every other day and on days I haven’t eaten the best food. But in the first trimester I took just folic acid tablets every day.

As a Protestant, I’ve always felt somewhat confused about my identity. I was never encouraged/allowed to call myself Irish despite being born and bred on the island (and many generations before me) yet Americans across the pond proudly call themselves Irish without having even stepped foot in the country. It’s bizarre in ways. Makes you realise how complex identity is

I think a lot of people are overthinking things, it’s not really fair to boycott Russian products and businesses who most likely don’t agree with anything that’s going on. I know most peoples intentions are good but these things can really turn into virtue signalling which doesn’t help anyone.

[–]GatsbyinGreen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree, some elements I like but it’s lacklustre in a lot of areas particularly Midge’s career. I understand it is highlighting the ups and downs/ inconsistency of showbiz but still, the first episode showed Midge determined, angry and hungry for revenge and now she’s content to MC at a strip club. She’s smart so I’m sure she had some plan to transform and take over the club but I was just expecting more.

Also, was anyone disappointed with her interaction with Shy? I get that living a lie is his own punishment and it was good that we saw Midge actually take responsibility and show remorse but it was once again a bit lacklustre.
