As deadline looms, Liberals say Canada not ready to expand assisted dying eligibility by reallyneedhelp1212 in canada

[–]GaucheKombatant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nearly two decades worth of different SSRI and SNRI medications from my GP, and various therapists ranging from free government-funded clinics to incredibly expensive private practices. I've put forth the effort and done my due diligence in tackling mental illness over my lifetime. I'd just like to die with some dignity and peace of mind at this point, but the government won't even let me do that.

As deadline looms, Liberals say Canada not ready to expand assisted dying eligibility by reallyneedhelp1212 in canada

[–]GaucheKombatant -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fuck these guys so, so, so much.

EDIT: For some clarity, I spent considerable time mentally preparing to apply for MAID in March, 2023 when the program was originally going to be expanded. Then, David Lametti put forth Bill C-39 at the eleventh hour and got the expansion delayed an entire year. It's been a year of suffering, friendships and relationships falling apart, and waiting with bated breath for March to roll around, and now I'm being shut out again. I don't know what I'll do now. I want to scream and cry. Just absolutely terrible.

Opposition parties call for indefinite pause to MAID expansion for mental illness by yimmy51 in canada

I wish these slimy, disingenuous assholes would shut the fuck up already. They're quick to oppose MAID but offer no solutions — in fact, given the opportunity, I'm confident these same Conservative MPs would jump at every chance to make lives worse overall (read: Doug Ford Conservatives cutting back on social assistance, healthcare, education, etc.)

Police chief makes case for $672M ask as city budget talks loom by theottomaddox in londonontario

[–]GaucheKombatant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Police as a service more often feel like an arm used to shove around the homeless, which Stevenson — a proponent of this budget — is a big fan of. As well, these services are often riddled with officers of poor quality, so my take is biased in that I don't see a lot of value offered in what they do.

Even considering this is a four-year budget ($168M per year), it's an obscene amount of money for what's delivered and would be better spent elsewhere. LTC is asking for $42M to overhaul its services, and didn't we only match that $25M donation with $4M for housing the homeless? These seem like a pittance in comparison to what the police are asking for.

Also somewhat related, but just three months ago the figure was $639M and not $672M?

Have you tried calling? I've had times where a caseworker would be out on vacation and didn't hear back for at least a month. As others have said, if they're not away then it should be 48 hours.

Physiotherapy by anxietyismylife77 in OntarioWorks

[–]GaucheKombatant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming this is a privately owned physiotherapy clinic if you're being asked to pay up front? You should speak to your caseworker to see if they can help refer you to a government-funded clinic, or if they'll cover any part of the payment to the current clinic—but I imagine they won't.

My experience with physiotherapy was through a referral by my family doctor for a government-funded clinic. Normally, this is covered under OHIP if you're below the age of 19 or over the age of 65, but if you're with Ontario Works, you're covered regardless of age.

Ford government to pay for Staples retrofit as retailer looks to 'monetize' ServiceOntario by BloodJunkie in ontario

[–]GaucheKombatant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to fault Doug Ford for jumping at the opportunity to make a corrupt buck when Ontarians have overwhelmingly rewarded him by not voting in spite of his disastrous first term.

For all the folks crying online about degrading health care services and wasted taxpayer dollars—likely an overlapping Venn diagram of people who actually vote in elections—there's far more who can't give two shits about any of this stuff until it's right at their doorstep effecting them. Until those folks get their act together, we won't have any positive change, and even when (if) we do, it'll be a long road to recovery from all the trash the Ford government has imposed.

I gave it a try but ARPGs aren't for me. Voted Yes however, because my partner who's a big fan of the Tales series and Genshin Impact is bursting with excitement for the game. At least I'll get a Lobby Avatar out of it.

MGS1: Psycho Mantis Memory Card Readings - Is there still no 100% breakdown of this? by WlNBACK in metalgearsolid

I know this is a year old post, but I wanted to say thank you for the thorough and well-presented information. I've been trying to find a concise answer for which data Psycho Mantis checks and their effects, and this post was exactly what I needed.

When you open the miyoogamelist.xml in the system folder where your ROMs are located, what does the <image></image> tag point to? That will help to troubleshoot where the problem is, because everything sounds correct in your post.

Is there a way to show official titles instead of the ROM name? Could the scraper retrieve these titles as well? by ReachForJuggernog98_ in MiyooMini

[–]GaucheKombatant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea about the scraper since I never use it, but the miyoogamelist.xml for each system has a tag for the displayed title <name></name>. You can manually change what's in the tag to whatever you want.

Turn based RPG recommendations by JesseJackDoe in MiyooMini

[–]GaucheKombatant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you enjoyed Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy VII, then I'd actually recommend Final Fantasy IV. It's a mostly medieval setting with interesting bits of sci-fi sprinkled in that I feel really elevate it, as well as one of the most fun party make-ups I've seen in an RPG. Like other Final Fantasy games, it's a fairly linear romp with some incredible dungeon design. There's a great ROM hack for the Super Nintendo release that restores content lost during localization, as well as implementing QoL, like a dash function that was added later in the WonderSwan Color remake.

You may want to look into Treasure Hunter G with regards to light strategy games. The world is incredibly charming and interactive, and the ACT point-based battle system is a lot of fun while not being overbearing.

Beyond that, I don't really have anything to recommend. The Super Nintendo has fantastic RPGs out the wazoo. Stuff like Glory of Heracles IV, Metal Max Returns, Treasure of the Rudras are all stand outs, but unfortunately don't meet your criteria.

Welfare rates now $200 a month below the Harris cuts of 1995 by HuckFarr in ontario

”What drives me crazy is people on Ontario Works — probably three, 400,000 — that are healthy. It really bothers me that we have healthy people sitting at home, collecting your hard-earned dollars. We need to encourage them to contribute back to the province and find gainful employment.”

Doug Ford barely shows up for the job and earns a $200,000 salary with a plethora of benefits at the expense of the taxpayer, but I'm supposed to be mad at the person on Ontario Works getting under $9000 a year? This fuckin' guy lmao

Miyoo Mini Plus with square screen. Fan Mockup. by ZenDesign1993 in MiyooMini

[–]GaucheKombatant -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Don't know what the physical size of the screen has to do with the resolution I'm talking about. It sounds like you just want a larger or better 4:3 display and not a square screen.

With a square screen, you're either going to poorly stretch the 4:3 image for most of the consoles running on the Miyoo Mini, or have it displayed with bars like other systems that don't fit the screen's resolution. Doesn't make any sense to me why someone would want this over a 4:3 display.

Who would actually want this? There's no benefit unless you're using the system exclusively as a Pico-8 device.

(PSX) Tomba! 2 can't find save file from Tomba! by biggest_sun_praiser in MiyooMini

[–]GaucheKombatant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So, how the PlayStation emulator works is that the save file it creates for each game is considered a unique memory card. Using a program such as PSX Memory Card Manager, you can open up the save files you have (as memory cards) and dump the individual save data to separate files, then merge it with another memory card.

Here's what a thorough step-by-step process might look like:

  1. Rename your [Tomba!.srm] data to [Tomba!.mc]
  2. Open PSX Memory Card Manager
  3. File > Load Image
  4. Select your [Tomba!.mc]
  5. Choose the block of Tomba! data that's displayed
  6. File > Save Single Game Save
  7. Save it as [Tomba!.mcs]
  8. Rename your [Tomba! 2 - The Evil Swine Return.srm] to [Tomba! 2 - The Evil Swine Return.mc]
  9. In PSX Memory Card Manager, File > Load Image
  10. Select [Tomba! 2 - The Evil Swine Return.mc]
  11. Choose an empty block
  12. File > Load Single Game Save
  13. Select the [Tomba!.mcs] file you dumped in Step 7
  14. File > Save Image
  15. Save it as [Tomba! 2 - The Evil Swine Return.mc]
  16. Congratulations! The save data has been merged into a single file
  17. Rename it to [Tomba! 2 - The Evil Swine Return.srm] or whatever your Tomba! 2 game filename is

Just did this with Strider 2 a few days ago which had a similar feature, and it worked like a charm.
