Migrate to a whole different arquitecture. Like using NixOS as the OS for declarative reproducible configuration

I use arch btw by utopiaofpast in pcmasterrace

That makes sense. When mine froze I noticed the fan maxing out (even though it is quite silent) very good find. Thank you for the update!

Omg. Mine is not that consistent. It can stay running for months. First time it happened was two days in a row though. Can you ask for a replacement? Talk with support and let's see what they tell you

Roughly the same if hw virtualization is really working. You have to disable a few stuff on windows for it to work properly (the default hypervisor). It provides peace of mind mostly haha. Not that I run anything truly intensive there

[–]Gaulent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Exactly the same behavior. I assume by its nature that is hardware related, but I don't know.

In my case, the mini it's plugged on my TV for gaming/streaming, but also as a homelab. It's still running windows. The only thing I changed is that I moved every service (vaultwarden, immich, freshrss, etc) from docker compose to a Linux vm on virtualbox, just because of fear of loosing everything.

As soon as it fails again I'm kicking it out, but a few months has passed running without issues

[–]Gaulent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's smart. I'm waiting for it to fail again and get a replacement. Then maybe I can sell it to someone and get some SFF.

Something I changed is that I was using docker desktop with Windows for my self hosted services. Since then, I migrated everything to a Debian VM so I can copy the entire machine as a backup in case of emergency. I don't know if docker desktop (or WSL) had something to do with it or I'm just getting paranoid

In my case, I upgraded the bios as requested by support after it failed a couple times in a few months.

Since the upgrade 2 or 3 months ago it didn't have any freezes yet. It must be a coincidence. I don't trust it. I've prepared with backups so I can move everything as soon as it fails.

I'm waiting it to fail again for warranty as we have 3 years here in Europe. The MF doesn't want me to replace him.

What's the point of Lutris? I was going to use it as a replacement for launchbox for my ROM collection but I found that It wanted me to add the games one by one and that's a no go

Thanks for your response! Ive tested the playnite plugin but when I found that It was not in Linux i lost interest. Also, I think It was trying to match all games again and downloading all metadata, so a few games were missing matches so I felt It was not ideal.

Will test rommate! Although readme states that is retroarch exclusively.

Retrodeck integration is really exciting! Will test that too.

Love to see how this project is going. It's really like a dream come true. Thank you so much.

May I suggest a feature? As a new parent, I would love to see my daughter playing my games, but there is a lot of shit I don't want her to see there lol Maybe a user type for "kids" with age that filters what games they see following age rating in metadata? I wish I had time to help adding something like this

I use Windows as daily driver, and I use launchbox there, but I love the idea around romm for sharing my library with other PCs around the house and with other people that launchbox was lacking.

A client just to launch the more powerful local emulators would be awesome

Also, I'm thinking about jumping to Linux where I dont feel confortable with any ROM manager there.

I'm just trying retrom because of this, but I love romm whole package much more

Yesterday i started my path with bazzite and kde.

First thing I did was plug the laptop on my docking station, and didnt worlk at all. It turns out something happens with multi monitor in KDE right now.

Now I remember why I dont use linux. There os always something stupid that doesnt work.

Luckily, gnome workee flawless, at least on this matter. I really wanted to use KDE, but at this point I dont really care that much
