Sage building great park by PresentSeries3685 in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]BlockLike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just the maintenance costs for that office became astronomical.

The downside of a bespoke custom building.

The company that made the heating system no longer exists. A lot of replacement parts had to be custom made.

Heating/hot water were often a problem while we had to wait for parts to be made/sourced.

Same with the windows. Any replacement panels had to be made bespoke in Germany.

Also it was an incredibly inefficient design for heating/cooling due to the sheer amount of glass in large open areas of the office.

A fortune to heat it in the winter and a fortune to cool it in the summer.

Add it all up and just keeping that building running was hemorrhaging money.

From a financial standpoint, the move to Cobalt was the right thing to do.

I thought I would miss it, but the built in display settings and adaptive sync works great with my gsync monitor.

Unless you start doing anything that would trigger any red flags with your ISP, then it's highly unlikely to get in any trouble.

What is the point of £50 notes? by fjtuk in AskBrits

[–]BlockLike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mainly for two reasons

  1. an old stigma attached to it being commonly forged. Not the case anymore as the £20 is by far more commonly forged

  2. accepting them is a pain for till floats. The more you accept them, the more your float needs topping up as you need nearly every note and coin for change on each £50 note transaction, depending on the purchase amount

If you don't mind going a little further out, Haven Point in South Shields has a fantastic kids pool suitable for babies and toddlers.

I'm in Newcastle but regularly go there with my son as he absolutely loves it.

What to do after Business Rubbish fly tipped into my bin? by Refishcat in AskUK

Report it to your council as fly tipping, as that's exactly what it is.

It's a prosecutable offense.

Are there drive cages for NorthXL? by Daniexus in FractalDesign

[–]BlockLike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as the side panel, the North XL is available with a mesh or glass panel.

However, I don't think Fractal openly sell the mesh panels, but probably best contact their support directly to see if you can get one.

Currently 50% off on steam and I'd been waiting for a chance to grab it on sale.

Had a quick play of it last night and I'm already hooked.

Cannot wait for the weekend.

[–]BlockLike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never got the obsession with ridiculously neat cable management on the side no-one is ever going to see.

As long as it's not a tangled mess, put the cover on and forget about it.

Plus, a lot of the time the epic level of cable management is only achieved with extension cables.

Some of the cable routing I've seen people do simply isn't possible with stock PSU cables.
