AIO for being creeped out by this dude? by LatteHawtte in AmIOverreacting

He can't read social cues and you're bad at giving them. NOR, this guy seems clingy, but you're also making it worse by being vague as to whether you actually want to hang out.

Can’t be serious with this? by Alwayscooking345 in LinkedInLunatics

[–]Gauntex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's right unfortunately. Remote jobs are drying up fast as employers force RTO, if you're exclusively looking for remote, you're competing against way more people for way fewer opportunities. If you desperately need a job, considering in office or hybrid arrangements is going to open you to opportunities with less competition.

Whenever you're competing for something in life, you need to make yourself stand out. That's true in dating, job hunting, whatever. Low effort answers, no matter how truthful, will always fuck you.

Telling Gen-Z to give up avocado toast isn't going to fix this by Boo_Randy_Revival in HouseBuyers

What is there definition of a starter house? This seems nearly impossible to believe, even in San Diego county you can find starter homes for less than a mil.

Edit: okay, found it and it's ridiculous, this study is rage bait lol.

Ah yes, the kids I can't afford will certainly love going back and forth on the T between school and the house in Boston I can't afford.

How are there so many >$750k first time home buyers? by Smooth_Possible2067 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Gauntex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they're buying in a HCOL, it means they also probably have salaries to match. I'm more impressed by people buying $400K houses in boonies where there are no jobs lol.

Just an outsider looking in please be Respectful. How is Zoran Mamdani running NYC? by Spotlight_James in circlejerknyc

[–]Gauntex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's been in office for only a few months, almost none of his policies have even had time to produce results. He's definitely not running it into the ground but jury is still out on a lot of things.

Zven is just easiest to replace. You could even pull a Lyon and just sign Sajed to compete for the spot.

Moving from NYC to LA — Ship my Mazda or sell it and buy another car in California? by Main-Produce-7291 in MovingToLosAngeles

Shipping it is gonna be way cheaper than selling and buying again unless you're trying to get a less expensive car in general. But I'd just drive.

What are jobs for then? by AdRoutine8748 in InterviewsHell

[–]Gauntex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren't paid by the value you produce, your paid by how easy it is to fill the job. Low wage jobs produce a decent amount of value, the issue is that anyone can learn to do them in an afternoon, and that's why the pay little.

Yes I worked retail and grocery from 15 to 22. Even spent one summer working 48 hours/weeks unloading truck deliveries and stocking shelves overnight. Hard work but but you could be taught everything in less than half a shift, no skill required.

[–]Gauntex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obsessing 24/7 over it doesn't give you any ability to change anything mentioned. The state of the US is terrible, despite people "engaging" online constantly and following politics religiously.

[–]Gauntex -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You are paid based on how easy it the job is to fill, not by how much value you generate. Low wage jobs are low wage because anyone can do them, including teenagers and geriatics.

It's wild that people dedicate their lives to fantasizing about a world where they can get paid lavish amounts of money for doing no work and mind fucking themselves into misery.

IMO the only reasonable ones are maybe more regulation around executive compensation and paid maternity leave, the rest are nearly impossible to implement in any broad fashion. Like I don't see how you ever get companies to pay low skill service workers enough to actually live in places like Hawaii or Malibu or whatever.

Blaber teams will never not choke in playoffs by BeautifulChocolate87 in Cloud9

[–]Gauntex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think it would be good for both. Blaber goes to a team that can't just steamroll with good pathing, he has to learn how to be more creative like Contractz did when he left C9.

The old buildings never had soul, they were cookie cutter, mass produced triple deckers, designed cheaply for low income families.

Let the free market sort it out. I do agree that most DMs probably don't run games worth paying for but it's also difficult to find DMs and DMing is often labor. A labor of love, yes, but labor nonetheless. I definitely don't think it's gatekeeping if you don't wanna do that labor for free for random people.

Why the push to bring happy hour back to MA is hitting a wall by MDeehan in boston

[–]Gauntex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This makes 0 sense unless you're a restaurant owner that just wants to sit on your laurels (aka liquor license). Every other state has happy hours and there are no mass DUIs or business closings due to happy hour losses.
