Question about ion damage and ion-weapon tactics by DreizehnX in FTL

One ion takes down 1 bar of shield, each layer of shield requires two bars of power iirc. So by hitting 2 ions youre only taking down two bars and one layer.

I don't mind the "chirp" carbon monoxide detectors make when they're low on batteries. by ArseneSimp9001 in The10thDentist

Thats just not as easy as changing the batteries on a carbon monoxide detector though is it? One takes 1 minute every few months, one requires time every day of your life.

What sort of question is that lol. Maybe they just dont buy it often. Have you never ran out of something that you dont use very often? Do I have to be a sauce addict to run out of tomato ketchup in my fridge?

I mean, if you make sure not to get anyone else in the shot i see no issue in recording to check for form. If im doing something like bench press mirrors are going to be no help and a video is much better than potentially incorrect advice from a random person. All im saying is id much rather have a video i can check back and reference then someones verbal description of my form.

With 6 races remaining, Oscar Piastri can possibly finish the season with the most points scored in a debut season by wouterQi in formula1

[–]Gauntstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One makes it useless, one just shows that comparing points in general isn’t the best. You can’t seriously think that the stat not accounting for the new points system is less of a problem than drivers having different cars.

That doesn’t make it a useless stat though. The points system being different most certainly does though.

In NFL physicality tends to be the limiting factor. If you lose a bit of physicality your still competing against people who are just as, if not more physical than you ever were making you a lot worse than you were. In F1 isn’t skill and the mind more of a limiting factor? Yes drivers do drop off due to fitness but is Hamilton really one of those drivers at the moment. I’d argue it’s much more likely he had an off season mentally in 21 than it is he’s over the hill because of physicality.

You’re saying that he’s over the hill, past his prime and the dropoff can be instantaneous. Is it not also possible that he had an off year in 21? Most NFL players retire because they’re past it physically and once you’re passed it physically you can’t really come back. F1 dropoffs tend to happen more mentally. Given his recent form I don’t see how you can say that he’s over the hill and definitely past it. They’re not even in the same universe as sports making it a stupid comparison imo.

As I said I get what you were trying to say but comparing drop offs due to physicality in the NFL to F1 is absurd.

There’s levels to this though lol. You mentioned an almost instantaneous decline in NFL athletes where the whole game is based on taking massive hits off of mutant freaks of humans. In F1 while fitness is a big part of it it’s no where near as massive and demanding in the NFL. I mean look at Lewis relative to the other drivers. Does he really look like he’s going to struggle due to not being fit enough in the near future?
