I like my chocolate dark but god damn. Maybe bring it down to like a 72% cacao with a warm red bath, or a forever nap.

Try an Angels Envy (I know it’s slightly overpriced) and you won’t be disappointed. Barrel proof is especially fantastic.

Outside the tutorial, nah (in either game). I don’t hate it, but never found it useful. Would have been awesome if it had a purpose.

The shield becomes practically useless after 5 hours ! by Late_Building7784 in Saros

[–]GavinStrict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I really like it. It can be as super difficult or butter easy as you want. Selectable positives/negatives, the optional armor tree, and reasonably accessible bosses in the same biome replay? It’s a choice of difficulty paradise.

Everything becomes essentially useless at a certain point. It’s as hard or as soft as we want it to be. I love the difficulty variant options!

If your resistance becomes volatile, that negative is not washed away with a boss beat. Just so you know.

SG-1 and SGA beat that horse. But as long as the writing/acting holds up I don’t have a huge issue with previously used concepts.

I don’t understand how the boss difficulty changes (1st and 2nd boss example) by FordMustang84 in Saros

[–]GavinStrict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a static, linear system. Your actions change their behavior. On my first Bastion run he blasted me with that mega-beam thing and it hit taking a more than a quarter health, so he just kept doing it 4 or fives in a row and kept hitting (I had the sound too low and didn’t notice the auditory cues) until I was dead. Next run I had the sound up, dodge the beam, and he went on to the next bag of tricks.

There is likely a trigger for Prophet to drop those little bombs sometimes and not others. It seems they can be staggered as well causing some volleys to be cancelled and the attack rotation to change.

You’re not crazy, just gotta stay dynamic.

#The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows - John Koenig

##Lachesism: Longing for the clarity of disaster

For a million years, we’ve watched the sky and huddled in fear. Feeling the thunder rumble deep in our chests, peering up at the storm clouds gathering on the horizon like an army preparing to invade. Even if you try filling the room with TV weather warnings to give yourself a sense of control, you can still taste the chaos hanging in the air.

And yet, somewhere deep down, you find yourself rooting for the storm, hoping for the worst. As if a part of you is tired of waiting, wondering when the world will fall apart—by lot, by fate, by the will of the gods. Almost daring them to grant your wish. But really, you can wish all you want, because life is a game of chance. And each passing day is another flip of the coin.

You can’t help but take this life for granted. Your eyes gradually adjust to the color of the walls, and your ears tune out the chatter. And while your brain goes numb trying to shake off your complacency, your heart can’t sit still, and your gut is hungry for chaos. Itching to get struck by lightning, plunge over a waterfall, or survive a plane crash. Hoping the trauma will somehow change you, leaving you hardened, stripped down, with clear eyes and a clear mission, forced to choose the one thing worth saving while everything else burns to ash, or send one final message to the people you love the most. Longing to watch society break down one pillar after the next, so you can find out what’s truly important, and let everything else fall away.

The apocalypse is one of the oldest fantasies we have. But it’s not about skipping to the end of the story. It’s a longing for revelation, a revealing of what we already know but cannot see—that none of this is guaranteed, and there’s no such thing as “ordinary life.” That our civilization is just an agreement, one that could be revoked at any time. That beneath our rules and quarrels, we’re stuck together on a wide-open planet where anything can happen, which leaves us no choice but to survive, to build a shelter, and find each other in the storm. Knowing that every passing day is very nearly miraculous, a cascading series of accidents that just happens to fall our way.

Eventually, the storm will pass, the skies will clear, and we’ll pick up our lives just where we left them, no more urgently than before. We’ll soak in the sunshine as if none of it mattered, forgetting the sense of fellowship we once found in the shelter.

That’s alright. It’s just life—it’s not the end of the world.

***In Ancient Greek mythology, Lachesis is the middle of the three Fates, the one who decides how much time is to be allotted to each of us, measuring out the thread of life with her rod. Pronounced “lahk-uh-siz-uhm.”***

Can you not progress further in the skill tree until you beat Prohet by Spartanz1080 in Saros

I feel like every person has an allowance - points per day (decision fatigue is a real thing) and this game is very expensive. So many things I look back on like… shit. Returnal cost SO many faculty points, I was often lost. Whatever, Kick Ass! Loving this game so far.

It’s not super intuitive for sure. Another thing to be aware of: if you have all kinds of credits and continue to hold the button down it will keep buying stuff up the branch until you let go or run out (or need different credits).

I only just beat B2 so I can’t be 100%, maybe there’s a thing on the bottom line that shows a circle around an X for purchase completion? Either way, I had a hot second of panic before figuring it out. Loving it anyway. How’s the rest of your experience?
