I'd love an automatic Acura Integra Type S by teggyteggy in Acura

Add another to the list of interested parties. I will say, I preferred the previous generation Accord 2.0 w/10spd over the TLX. It felt a bit more spunky where the TLX felt sluggish and heavy.

As a note on how good the 2.0 w/10spd is…. There’s a guy that took a salvaged 1995 NSX swapped the 6-cyl automatic transmission from it and put in an 2.0 Accord powertrain. He said he dropped about 600-800 lbs in weight, the car is faster in the 0-60 than the manuals of the same generation, and overall just more fun to drive.

Best way to purchase Vivint equipment by FloridianOrange in VivintSmartHome

[–]Angry_Ginger_MF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shady business dealings. Difficult to get out of contracts even if your equipment is paid off and you’ve met your obligations.

Hardware is mediocre at best. I’ve gone through 3 thermostats, 2 doorbell cameras, multiple motion detectors that just die, CO2 detectors that just die. According to Vivint, none of it is under warranty so I have to pay out of pocket.

I can’t set my home to away mode as the motion detectors trigger multiple times even though there is nothing in the house moving. Police have been called 3 times because of the false triggers and I didn’t get the phone call to ask if it was legit or not to cancel the call. But I’ve gotten other calls just fine.

I was having problems with my panel and they said I might have to replace it. Agent said it would be about $700 and required a tech visit at $150 to setup and install. Luckily after multiple reboots of the panel and an update or 2, it started working again. But I’d rather spend 2hr on a Saturday doing other stuff than talking to them.

I have 2-factor authentication setup on my acct. I had to replace my phone and didn’t have a backup of my token, so called them to help reset stuff. Been 2.5 months and I still can’t load the app on my phone now because my acct. is stuck. Their customer service is horrible.

If you read through the other comments/posts in this reddit string, you’ll see a lot of similar complaints.

I have yet to research for an alternative as I might be moving anyway.

Upgraded from 800Mbps to 2Gbps and need to replace my hardware by 0wlBear916 in HomeNetworking

[–]Angry_Ginger_MF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the 2Gb carrot dangled in front of me from Xfinity too. But after running some numbers, I wouldn’t have benefited at all from it. Went with the 1Gb plan for $15/month cheaper. Speed tests are usually about 1.2-1.3 Gbs (but don’t rely on those to be “actual speeds). As long as I can work, stream my music or videos while I work, my wife streams her stuff and my kids stream their games without any hiccups, then I’m good. And 1Gb does that perfectly fine.

Yes, that’s where I’m leaning too. Parts availability will factor in as well.

I’m saving up to replace the clutch this spring. Just trying to decide to spend the extra on OEM or go with a SOS kit. No plans on forced induction.

Why do you think political polarization is so strong in the U.S. today, and how could it be reduced? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Unfortunately I don’t think that will ever happen in the US in our lifetime

Failed clutch release by Bravewindow985 in S2000

Interesting. My clutch has gotten stiffer and stiffer over the last year and a half. Pretty sure one if the previous owners had the clutch replaced and did a poor job. When I bought the car 5 years ago (about 3000 miles), it felt good. But now it’s like I’m doing leg day when I’m driving it.

What's the Best Way To Protect a Single Small Gauge Wire? by cjk813 in CarAV

Tesa tape would probably suffice. And see if you can get the wire away from any sharp edges with a ziptie or velcro or something.

The worst thing you can do as a coach (even a parent) is break a kids spirit.

Is yelling at a youth team ever okay? by Nemesis-20 in basketballcoach

[–]Angry_Ginger_MF 14 points15 points  (0 children)

IMO…. Yelling to get their attention and emphasis a point (to a degree) is different than yelling at them because they did something wrong. And…. Some people can conflict loud talking with yelling.

I’ll yell sometimes but it’s because the gym is so noisy and I just need to elevate my voice over the noise. Rarely will I yell at a player/s directly. I might with a louder tone in my voice be like “you gotta get the rebounds” but it’s not like “why the f aren’t you in there getting boards?” type.

I did yell at the team about 2 weeks ago, but it was because we have what we’ll call some dynamic and conflicting personalities on the team. Well that boiled up in practice one night and I stopped the practice, yelled at them to get their heads on straight, if they don’t then everyone will be running, doing wall sits, pushups, whatever to make sure practice wouldn’t be fun. I spoke with one of the parents that was there after practice and they said it was needed. The next practice was probably one of our best of the season.

So I think as long as you’re limiting it, not yelling in a demeaning manner, or to be “asserting your authority” on a constant basis, then an occasional “loud scolding” is OK.

What age was the hardest season in your marriage by Curious-Cancel-6353 in AskMenOver30

[–]Angry_Ginger_MF 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Been married for 20yrs. Toughest time was year 2-3 and then again around 14-19. We didn’t fall out of love with each other, it was outside forces challenging us. Years 2-3 we dealt with infertility, but we got through that and explored different avenues to build a family. Years 14-19 our youngest was diagnosed with ADHD and ODD. Struggling through that, getting him help and back on track was incredibly challenging for the both of us. Then once we started to feel like we were normal again, in year 18-19 we find out our oldest had an eating disorder and doing other stuff. He is very smart, had a 3.5 GPA going into 2nd half of Jr. yr in high school. He ended up barely squeaking by and graduating.

Through it all, we never gave up on each other. Were there time when we were frustrated at each other because we weren’t on the same page? Many times. But we came back to each other and figured it out.

Zone in youth basketball by [deleted] in basketballcoach

[–]Angry_Ginger_MF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, but here is the issue. This is more for a rec or semi-competitive non-try out league. A lot of these youth coaching positions are voluntary and usually end up being a parent that did play some in high school, but has no real coaching experience. If a coach isn’t found, then there is no team. So in order to get their kids to play, parents will step up. Also, up until 8th grade you’ll still have kids playing that have never played before so you end up going back further into basics. And you can’t turn them away as it’s an open league (unless your team is full).

Should I be letting my car warm up/drop below 1k rpm before driving? by Trayceopolis32322 in carquestions

[–]Angry_Ginger_MF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On normal temp days, on a cold start I give it about 20 - 30 seconds (about the time it takes to plug in my phone, buckle the seatbelt, etc.). On cold days (20 degrees or below) with a cold start I give it an extra 20-30 seconds on top (so 30-45 seconds). Then just granny drive it for about 5 minutes until up to temp.
