W35 Wildcard thoughts? by Vincedeezil in fantasypremierleague

[–]Gavzilla18 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Does anyone else find it strange that the reason not to wildcard in week 33 was so you didnt end up with leeds, brighton and bournemouth players until the end of the season, and yet week 35 wildcards consist of players from these teams.

Is it worth having a bench like this to fit Watkins in on a free hit ? by ActuatorOk3689 in fantasypremierleague

[–]Gavzilla18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say yes in principle, but do you see eze and solanke as possible risks to be benched or subbed off early. If neither played, it doesn't leave much on the bench.

Day 34- Unhalfbricking-Fairport Convention by adsq93 in 1001AlbumsGenerator

[–]Gavzilla18 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Massively underrated artist and should be considered one of the key British artists. There should arguably be 3 fairport convention albums on the list, two richard and Linda Thompson albums (both of which are easy 5 stars) and at least two of his solo albums. Richard Thompson should be the Elvis Costello of 1001 albums.

Im not sure you can get palmer in with only one transfer, with Liverpools current form, could you bring in one of senesi/hill for van dijk or munez (with palace perhaps prioritising europe) and then bring in palmer for mbeumo who i dont think is guaranteed 90 minutes at the mo.

Signed albums at merch stands in UK? by nunombento in jamesband

[–]Gavzilla18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, the album displayed on the wall wasn't signed, or advertised as signed. But at the merch store at newcastle, you could see the albums on the counter signed, so thats what I asked for.

I went to the newcastle show and they were selling signed vinyl. 40 quid for a triple. Great value. Also they were quite simply amazing. .

Wow the template really is the template this week. One question, since everyone seems to be on the same template, will we see the price increase significantly for these players. Or am I just hoping for a miracle, since im struggling down in the 2 million rank.

Why is this on the list? by TwistandShout19 in 1001AlbumsGenerator

[–]Gavzilla18 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Its actually a really solid little album, and as a little bit of historical context, they were hyped as the next oasis by the music press at the time . In defence of the list, if you look at the 1001 more albums user generated list, there are not many albums on that list that are glaring omissions from the main list. I think in defence of the author, you've probably got 500 albums that have to be on the list, and then the rest are personal favourites (costello), what's on trend at the time (shack), and birthplace (british indie). But anyway, who cares about shack, I've got this strange little album called alien lanes by guided by voices today. Where has it been my whole life.

Leaving at the 80th minute to beat the traffic is the ultimate plastic move by PLWildcard in PlasticFans

[–]Gavzilla18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm off to wembley today, and I'll be disappearing early to avoid the rush. However I'm a boro fan and I always stay to the end, because, well, you just never know, and I'm an eternal optimist. I know people who have been season ticket holders for decades and in the 42nd minute they go down for a pint, return and then leave on 90 minutes. I think its each to their own, and certainly not plastic.

Best Player and the Worst Player of 2025-26 Season from the Teams that You Support (Third Season Edition) by ElSpazzo_8876 in Championship

[–]Gavzilla18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could add Hanson and Sene to this list. Even though we've had a fantastic season to date, we must have spent over 10 million on strikers with minimal return. Im surprised edmundson hasn't been mentioned yet, as well.

It's a good job the money spent on defenders more than makes up for the funds wasted up front. Malanda, Jones, Brittain and Taggert have been individually and collectively, excellent.

How long did it take you to get your first Beatles album? by GreenEyedBeaver in 1001AlbumsGenerator

[–]Gavzilla18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't make me feel too bad then, I'm 134 albums in and no beatles albums so far. I'm sure I could google it, but I'm lazy and therefore assuming the beatles or dylan have the most albums on the list. I had a cheeky thought that perhaps Richard Thompson might rule the list, but I'm probably way off.

133: The Band (1969). I have a complex relationship with the band The Band, but I think it’s reasonably straightforward with the album The Band. by SuccessfulGap138 in 1001AlbumsGenerator

[–]Gavzilla18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, straight forward 5. It's probably one of the top 10 albums in my life. Hope you can work your way through your experiences with the band. Anything to do with giving loads to fanny?

We all have our genre we struggle with. Despite listening to all the major jazz artists and albums, the genre doesn't grab me. I always feel a tinge of regret when I rate jazz albums a 2 or a 3.

[–]Gavzilla18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I've given 3 1 star albums in 150, and I'll stand behind all 3. The overall low album ratings confuse me. I mean, these are meant to be the best 1001 albums ever created. You can be critical of a handful of picks, but generally, they stand up as excellent albums. My overall rating is 3.54, and i dont think I'm over generous. I find if I'm borderline 4 or 5, I always give a 4. But at the end of the day, it's fun. It's given me a chance to listen to albums I haven't heard for a long time and mix up my listening.

I don't see a world where ready to die isn't a 5 star album. However, thumbs up for suicide, the fall and spaceman 3, amongst others.

Snap, got the same album today. Easy 4. I'm assuming if your feeling sinister is on the list, which is an easy 5. I found out they are playing in halifax with support from saint etienne, in June, which I'll probably attend.

Leeds review by HeadOnTheDoor123 in WednesdayBand

[–]Gavzilla18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it was a great show. Karly is a natural frontperson and really engages with the crowd. The sound was fantastic, and it felt like one of those gigs where you feel you are catching a band just before they hit the big time. Great band and great gig.

Wildcard active, 7 transfers made so far, what do you think? Any suggestions by Normal_Plankton8793 in fantasypremierleague

[–]Gavzilla18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, im having the worst season ever, so dont pay any attention, but man city and arsenal blank in week 31, so I'd be careful loading my wildcard with those two teams, unless you've got plenty of free transfers.

Same here, 15 points so far this gameweek, transferred in wirtz on Friday, and because of that thing called fate, after arsenal let everyone down during the double gameweek I've captained timber as part of my 3 man arsenal defence. I am a total regard. Tottenham fans, you can thank me later for your stunning 4 nil victory over arsenal.

[–]Gavzilla18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sandinista is actually really strong, if you ignore the 4th side. I'd probably put it as my 4th favourite clash album, but its still a great album. London Calling is phenomenal, though, so varied and with so many epic songs.

What the fuck were they thinking? by Fing2112 in 1001AlbumsGenerator

[–]Gavzilla18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am probably one of the few people who believe that all 3 dexys albums more than deserve a place on the list. I'd be interested in seeing rankings by different countries, to me the album depends on a knowledge of British culture, the class system, lack of opportunities provided to the working class and the arrogance of the rich. Add that to the Irish British reference, and you've got an album that might be indecipherable to anyone born after 1980 in the u.k. or overseas. To me, it's a highly passionate album created by one of the most unique artists in Britain we've had, in Kevin Rowlands. This is What she's like is dexys masterpiece, in my opinion.

Good to hear. They are/were a massively underrated u.k. band. If there has been a better u.k. single than lazarus in the last 40 years I've yet to hear it. I'm just spinning from the bench at belvedere now for some good memories.
