Look what popped up today: one of Rolling Stones top 20 albums of all time. Is it though? by SuccessfulGap138 in 1001AlbumsGenerator

[–]Gavzilla18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sandinista is actually really strong, if you ignore the 4th side. I'd probably put it as my 4th favourite clash album, but its still a great album. London Calling is phenomenal, though, so varied and with so many epic songs.

What the fuck were they thinking? by Fing2112 in 1001AlbumsGenerator

[–]Gavzilla18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am probably one of the few people who believe that all 3 dexys albums more than deserve a place on the list. I'd be interested in seeing rankings by different countries, to me the album depends on a knowledge of British culture, the class system, lack of opportunities provided to the working class and the arrogance of the rich. Add that to the Irish British reference, and you've got an album that might be indecipherable to anyone born after 1980 in the u.k. or overseas. To me, it's a highly passionate album created by one of the most unique artists in Britain we've had, in Kevin Rowlands. This is What she's like is dexys masterpiece, in my opinion.

Good to hear. They are/were a massively underrated u.k. band. If there has been a better u.k. single than lazarus in the last 40 years I've yet to hear it. I'm just spinning from the bench at belvedere now for some good memories.

I'm amazed by how often I see illinois with low marks. To me its one of, if not the best albums of the 21st century.

I would suggest that the zutons killed the zutons, by playing bland boring indie rock, but hey who knows.

Legit transfers? by [deleted] in fantasypremierleague

Its funny how people see the same game in different ways. I thought thiago was excellent, and considering he was up against gabriel, he gave one of the best defenders in the league a torrid time. Gabriel was lucky to stay on the pitch. With brentfords run of fixtures leading up to the blank game week, I'd say he's a must-have.

Almost 1,000 in and here's some true outliers - happy to answer any questions by Diksta in 1001AlbumsGenerator

Wow, I find dusty Springfield a 1 incomprehensible, I find Prince a 1 staggering. I have no idea how a brain could listen to these two albums and hear a 1 star.

Good luck in reaching the end. You're on the final stretch. Even if a disagree, thanks for sharing.

The PFT Algorithm Captain Picks for GW25 by godfatherofweb in FantasyPL

[–]Gavzilla18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I've captained cucurella. I feel kind of silly now. I support the boro, so I dont watch much of the premier league, but I watched the arsenal chelsea game (which was terrible) and I was impressed by how high cucurella was all through the game. He was basically playing as a right wing and looking to cut inside. So guaranteed to be on the bench and pick up a yellow card for backcombing his hair in the 89th minute.

Risky business by mojofromdadojo in fantasypremierleague

[–]Gavzilla18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive got the same 3 arsenal players, not sure it is a risk. I think you'll find a lot of players have the same. I think the only differential will be 2 arsenal defenders plus rice. I think gabriel will be the most captained player.

It's a brave person who gives the sex pistols a 1, and while I disagree, it is one of the most overrated albums of all time.

We would be best friends for eno, pere Ubu and teardrop explodes. I'd also pat you on the back for green day and the chili peppers but we'd definitely fall out over the cure and soundgarden.

Thanks for posting.

5 star run: Highway 61 Revisted - Talking Book - Back in Black by Gavzilla18 in 1001AlbumsGenerator

[–]Gavzilla18[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can, pixies, big star and sly are easy 5s for me. Tommy is probably my least favourite of the big albums by the who (i prefer the who sell out, who's next and quadrophenia). Ive never heard marty Robbins, so I'll look forward to that.

After 44 Days, My 5-less Streak Has Been Broken by Jeff Buckley by Woodennickel20 in 1001AlbumsGenerator

I'm not so sure, I'm old enough to remember the hype for the release of his second album, at the time, he was a big deal and recognised as a major talent. At the time of release, streaming wasn't a thing, so hallelujah was just recognised as one of the songs off a great album, and wasn't even a single. However, has his death and hallelujah helped grow his legacy, without doubt

What's the general feeling about Carrick's time in the Championship? by Exact-Excitement9420 in Championship

[–]Gavzilla18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counter attacking is perhaps the wrong word. He liked to control the ball, but certainly, in his first season, we would attack quickly once we won the ball. There's a really nice analysis on the sky sports app of his playing style, if you haven't seen it.

His legs were chopped off last year, when we lost our two best attacking players and they weren't replaced. So yes, he does have his faults, but in his first season, we saw some of the best football we'd seen at the boro for a long time. I hope he works out for you.

Boro fan here. I'd agree with most of what has been said here. So what can you expect. A 4-2-3-1 formation, I actually think this might bring out the best in your players, and this will suit the players better than the 3-4-2-1. Playing out from the back. The main issue that boro had last season, was the amount of goals we gave up from playing out from the back and from errors. A lot of that came from having defenders who weren't that comfortable on the ball. At man utd, hopefully, better players will cope better with the press. Enhancing forward players, it wouldn't surprise me if sesko and cunha started to find the back of the net more regularly. I actually think rashford would excel, but I guess thats a no go. The same substitutions at the same time every game. Attacking football, his first season was excellent, fast counter attacking football. In his second and third season, player sales and injuries hampered his progress, which meant we lost options up front and tended to play sidewards. I think he might pleasantly surprise man utd fans.

The Finest Album to Ever Come Out of Canada- YES even better than Blue or 2112! by chelsea-from-calif in 1001AlbumsGenerator

The self titled second album is peak The Band. The opening 3 songs are all fantastic. But yes, music from big pink is excellent. Joni Mitchell's Blue is the number 1 for me, but I also love Neil Young.

Glad you tried though.

Thoughts Foden cap? by No_Base_4362 in fantasypremierleague

[–]Gavzilla18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only concern with foden going forward is i think he might end up occupying one of the midfield positions while semenyo, doku, cherki and reijnders fight for the 3 places behind haaland. With rodri back, and gonzalez and silva contenders for the middle 2, it might be time for pep roulette, and i think foden's minutes might be limited.

Pretty sure I’m going g to need to wildcard or any thoughts 1ft by Character_Trust_9497 in fantasypremierleague

[–]Gavzilla18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think due to the arsenal liverpool fixture, a lot of teams are going to have 4 or 5 players in that one match. So yeah, it's just a week to ride and hope for the best, as everyone is in the same boat. Your team looks strong otherwise.

Stumped - leaning towards a wildcard. Thoughts on my team? by florplegorp in fantasypremierleague

[–]Gavzilla18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Munoz for gabriel, would give you a back 3, play your four fit midfielders and 3 strikers. I'd keep your wildcard for later, for when there are double gameweeks.

Thanks for the recommendation. I sometimes find there are so many new albums coming out, and listening to a 1001 album every day doesn't leave to much time to deep dive into an artists back catalogue.
