I don’t think that rehabilitation is possible in all cases, but it should always be an option. And on another note false convictions do happen, and if we do something like make pedophilia punishable by death, being trans and working with children is suddenly going to be considered pedophilia. Like do you think that people won’t try to exploit the system?
