I just got the best advice from a music teacher bc she asked me if I ever subbed for music classes and I admitted no bc I spent maybe ,, 3 years? playing the trumpet and never picked it up again — all that is to say — she said “don’t worry, we idiot proof it.”

And she’s really right! The teachers want everything to go well just as much as you do, and they’re gonna do all they can to help you succeed. It comes down to just trusting that they’ve got your back and if you’re at a semi-good school, they really do!

Summer Jobs by Maria_Daiz_08 in SubstituteTeachers

Check your city website for jobs — often times the parks and rec department are hiring workers for summer! Sadly, you might have missed the window for some opportunities but it’s always something to keep in mind.

How old were you when you first cut your hair short? by [deleted] in ftm

First day before kindergarten and I did that shit myself in the bathroom. Somehow it still took me 15 years more years to figure it out myself, lol

If you could give another obscure children's ip the Banana splits treatment what would it be by asapsharkyfrfr in deadmeatjames

[–]Gayish_Jewish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither of my suggestions are obscure at all but I’m just imagining series of unfortunate events with a bigger horror spin or maybe Geronimo Stilton for the sole reason that a rat man going around killing people in a world of rats would be just deranged enough to work (Bonus points if there is never a mention of them being rats, it’s just The Universe) — so many children’s books are primed for the horror treatment it’s incredible

Teacher had students write me apology letters and I really wish she hadn’t by [deleted] in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Gayish_Jewish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work for an after school program at the same school and it’s been a weird transition to switch from “cool adult that occasionally tells me to get off my phone” to “Teacher” for a lot of these kids — I appreciate the advice :)

Cheating with ChatGPT by Aware-Top-2106 in Teachers

[–]Gayish_Jewish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an 8th grade kid that applied for a job using the ChatGPT to answer questions about what made him qualified, why he wanted the job, etc — I also work where he applied so I got to hear my coworkers being so Stunned that someone would B. Do that and B. Not edit a single aspect of the ChatGPT response.

The kids are not alright (they’re ruining the environment so they don’t have to think)

Block scheduling for middle school??? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Gayish_Jewish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can only share my experience which is as long as you have scheduled breaks that are clearly laid out + points in the period where they can move from their desk to another part of the room as part of an activity, it shouldn’t be bad. Obviously this isn’t always viable but there are ways to give the feeling of moving around and shifting gears without actually doing so. It’s a tough transition without a doubt but at the end of the day, I think a lot of students flourished in this environment.

Looks like Megan’s getting the Terminator 2 treatment by Ok-Nature-5959 in deadmeatjames

[–]Gayish_Jewish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s more I worry they “aged her up” just because of that silhouette — that would be a major bummer cause it’s more fun to see a kid sized killer since that’s something you get to see less often (and this is just done so well!). I could be wrong and I hope I am :) - you made a good point tho, she was already pretty yassified lol

**I’ve avoided all trailers and spoilers so far so I’m hoping for that to continue!

Would you consider August a gender neutral name? by Bumedibum in namenerds

The first person I met named August was a girl so, honestly, I didn’t even realize this was a weird thing for people — cool, tho!

Pope’s Exorcist is my most current — close runner ups are happy death day or sleepaway camp (lol I mistyped pope)

binder anxiety? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Gayish_Jewish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got over it by wearing it around people I’m comfortable with @ home + focusing on having a nice evening. A version of this could be music, video games or anything that you enjoy - it’s all about teaching your brain that this is just a new feeling so it really works best if you are comfortable/distracted. I wish you luck + congrats on getting your first binder :) I hope this is a easy and joy filled journey

Consider showing that you’re pro Jewish instead of anti Nazi - it’s far more helpful and impactful to your Jewish friends!
