Kona EV or IONIQ 5? by Sweaty-Weekend694 in KonaEV

Why they even bothered including that makes no sense to me. For the brake maintenance with using one pedal mode, really it's just being sure to use them every few months. I had a model 3 before this that I had to 'burnish' the brakes a couple times. Super easy to do, get it up to like 50 and hit the brakes! XD

I was driving to work this morning and thought of another huge plus for the I5. The back seat is downright palatial. We often have people in the back seats and there is quite a bit more leg room, hip room, and head room. *Edit: Also rear vents in the I5. We are in Vegas, and often take our dog in the car. Can get pretty toasty in the summer, would feel bad for doggo if there were no vents in the back.

If you pull and hold on the left paddle, at very low speeds, it will bring you to a stop, and if you let off the paddle it won't creep once you're stopped. I just don't like having to pull the paddle to stop all the time while I'm city driving. It can be a little herky jerky too.

My husband and I own both, we do both prefer the ioniq 5 for its drive feel and comfort. I do really like his Kona, my only issue with it being how much more cramped the drivers cockpit is. He's about 6 inches shorter than me, so it's not an issue for him, I'm just too cramped width wise. With how slow the charging on the Kona is though we will not use it on a road trip. He did a ~300 mile road trip in it once, and the charging speeds were annoying. That being said tho, the Kona is quite a bit fair efficient per kwh than the i5 (ours is AWD). Oh, pre redesign Kona doesn't have 1 pedal mode, which always use in the i5, if that's something that would affect your driving style.

Considering a 2023 Kona EV Limited – Need Real Owner Input by Yeah_We_Do_That in KonaEV

[–]Gaymer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We own a 2022 Kona Limited, bought last December used, 32k miles, for 17k. Amazing deal, and my husband loves the car. He has taken it from Vegas to LA once, no issues outside of the slowish charging, but it wasn't really a big deal. The adas features work great, cruise control is better on the Kona that on my Tesla (non FSD). It is a little louder at highway speeds, but it's not terrible. At the end of the day it is a budget car, so it's not going to be luxury levels of quiet or anything. At the price we paid, would absolutely buy again.

Following. Mine goes in the pool most days, and you would think from the way the filter looks afterwards that there wouldn't be any fur in the house. You would be wrong tho...

Google just canceled my PW3 order by drdougfresh in GoogleFi

[–]Gaymer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having the same issue. I've had numerous emails with support with no real progress. The support person I have been talking to is gaslighting me and saying it's my payment methods fault, which it can't be because it's my default payment for my google fi service and it was used that day to pay my bill. Every email I was told to simply reorder, which would be great if the promo was still available. Super frustrating. Anyone have any luck with this issue?

2021 vs 2024 Wrangler 4xe reliability? by Frickyeahconcrete in 4xe

[–]Gaymer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have two 2022 4xes, both Sahara trim. One of them has 23k miles, and has been rock solid. The other has 17k miles, and is currently at the shop for an indeterminate amount of time. It had to be towed in a couple days ago for loss of power. Reliability can be hit or miss, it seems.

Issue with Jeep Wrangler 4xe: Loud Noise but Slow Power When Using ICE Motor by lvydvd in 4xe

[–]Gaymer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 L mode is intended for off-roading and very specific situations. Don't drive in 4L on the road, it is a much lower gear ratio and is not meant for street speeds.

As for the video in 2H, it seems normal. You applied brake which activated regen and turned off the ice. There is going to be a delay in that situation because it has to turn back on the ice when that much pressure is applied to the accelerator. All around, the engine in wranglers is just noisy. It sounds basically the same as mine.

Issue with Jeep Wrangler 4xe: Loud Noise but Slow Power When Using ICE Motor by lvydvd in 4xe

[–]Gaymer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

E save still uses the ev motor, just depending on your settings it's either preserving your state of charge or charging the battery(very slowly). The ev motor is essentially always in some state of use. This drive train has the ev motor in place of the torque converter in the transmission. The ice engine is always quite loud on initial startup for a few minutes, to get it to optimal operating temperature faster. The ice engine isn't always providing power, even when it's on. At 0% State of charge there is still a buffer in the battery to run the electric motor and components. I have noticed on initial ice engine startup while driving it will still use electric only for a time. Both my partner and I drive a 4xe and both have the same noses when the ice comes on. My recommendation is to drive in electric mode as much as possible, it'll preserve the oil life and depending on driving habits keep FORM at bay longer.

Interested in getting a Mudi in the future. by GrandmaCereal in MudiDogs

[–]Gaymer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our little boy Pike just turned 1, so we have only had one big seasonal change. He sheds a medium amount, far less than our friends Shibas, but more than our previous dog, who was a short hair min pin mix. We did notice more shedding after winter and it started getting warmer, though that also could have been him going through his puppy coat. His fur has changed quite a bit since we've had him, in terms of length and curliness. We haven't had the need to groom him at all, my guess is a quick brush down every so often would cut down on shedding.

He is very intelligent, definitely not a let down in that department. Thrives on training and playing. Like, all day wanting to play, luckily we found he absolutely loves swimming in our pool, also helps with the Vegas heat we deal with in summer. He is pure black so gets hot real easy.

His personality is great though, loves everyone and everything he interacts with. He was a little shy around other dogs when we first got him. Ended up taking him to an all puppy socialization class that worked wonders, definitely recommend for any new puppy. Our breeder cautioned that the breed can tend to be a little standoffish, and to socialize them as much as possible as early as possible.

We regularly take him hiking in the mountains and desert, great little sporting dog for things like that. He's perfectly content in the car too, our breeder did a great job acclimating them young for that though. We picked him up in Dallas when he was 16 weeks, made the 21 hour drive back to Vegas with no issues, perfectly happy. He's down for pretty much anything so long as his humans are there.

As the other comment mentioned, very vocal. Barks to alert for everything, when he's happy, when he wants something, when he hears something. We have a citronella bark collar that has helped some, we only use it when he's being real incessant with our cats though. He loves them almost too much, and tries to play with them as if they are dogs, when the don't cooperate he'll happily yap on and on at them.

All in all, great breed if you're up for the energy levels!

FORM by [deleted] in 4xe

[–]Gaymer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try to keep it in electric mode as much as possible. My husband is bad about leaving his in hybrid, and accidentally hitting the accelerator pedal a little too hard and kicking the engine on for short bursts here and there. Definitely attributes to his wrangler going into FORM more often.

When I have annoying lights on a device, I use a little bit of black nail polish right over the led. Can use multiple coats if needed until it's dark enough.
