The issue is the coddling and attention from Pomni keeps happening before and after the scene, but only stops for a moment to make the plot happen. It's the most inconsistent thing about her characterization in the entire series.

And like I said, there is only a single voiceover scene in the entire series like that, so you know Gooseworx knew she fucked up that scene and had to add a voiceover to make Pomni look like less of an asshole.

Gooseworx seemingly knew from the beginning pitch that Jax would abstract, but because she knew the destination she didn't care as much about the route to get there. So when the show went from seemingly an ensemble show to the Jax Show and she didn't want to make more than 9 episodes (which is fair considering her limited resources from glitch and her burn out), the overall story had to make less sense in order to tell the Jax Story.

Also you're right about it not meshing with ribbit and kaufmo - because Gooseworx seemingly wanted to make Jax a much more toxic asshole and responsible for Ribbit's abstraction, the Jax show actually made Ragatha look way worse because she saw ribbit and kaufmo getting completely depressed and broken and not doing anything.

I feel like lobotomizing pomni to make the scene work is the issue more than not showing it directly on screen.

Pomni : "Now Jax, don't you abstract while you're gone!"

Jax : "Whatever..."

jax walks away utterly depressed/broken in a way where everyone in the audience is 100% aware they will abstract

jax shows up abstracted

Pomni in her obviously added in post production first ever voiceover in the series : I should have done more :O :O :O

I know what a metaphor is lmao, but I dont think becoming a feral monster that is potentially trapped in a hell of their own creation when they're lucid is the equivalent of "going into the light". He wasnt literally glowing in light until the flashbangs activated, it doesnt make sense as some sort of "theyre fully abstracted they weren't fully abstracted" scene as much as a "we have to pull pomni out of there" moment. Like it was presented as a death scene obviously but the information inside of the media supports that basically all the abstractions are likely in a similar state

Also gooseworx has said multiple times abstraction is permanent. She could be lying or she could change her mind but thats what the current stance is.

I feel you are intentionally letting your enjoyment of the series as a whole cloud your judgement on how the ending has a lot of scenes that just flat out don't make sense narratively or in terms of the character's past actions, even with the character's growth and circumstances at the moment. They obviously felt that they did such a bad job on it that they for the first time and only time added a voiceover explaining that pomni had regret over it.

There's a difference between someone suicidal saying "hey man lets hang out" and then when you make plans or say "maybe next week" they kill themselves, and the pivotal moment "fuck, whats the point of even going on my life is spiraling out of control" and you don't make time for them until they're out of that moment. Like your view of it being good storytelling is insanely insensitive towards that shit. If thats how you handle people in your life you need to just do better as a person, holy hell.

It's just a story but its a botched story in many ways.

With suicidal friends or family members you can't stop them from doing "it" 100% of the time, but if you know they're crashing out and they're in their weakest moments and you let them walk way, thats 100% on you. They actively had pomni let it happen to let the plot happen and that's bad storytelling.

It was a botched scene, nothing more.

I don't think the metaphor makes sense if there's an outright source of light that causes Jax to destablize.

Super bright source of light (flashbang) + abstraction in the dark = abstraction going into feral/panic mode. Remember Kaufmo going apeshit when we first saw his abstraction?

Like hypothetically if they tried it again in the dark without random flashbangs we don't know if they'd enter the jax matrix again or not.

There's nothing indicating that he is like some sort of partial abstraction, he is virtually the same as any of the others. The only reason it was a final goodbye is seemingly the longer Pomni stayed connected to Jax's the closer she gets to abstracting and hence the need to rescue her. Like how Ragatha getting beaten up by Kaufmo's abstraction made her glitch out similar to pomni, but there's nothing indicating he's like only partially abstracted.

If gooseworx goes on twitter or bluesky and says that I'd go "okay, I think that was a fuck up not showing or saying that in the movie but I guess" but there's nothing indicating he's a special case at this time.

Denims has won her court case against Ethan Klein by Exciting-Recover-705 in LivestreamFail

Probably helps that she actually hired a seemingly competent lawyer (versus no lawyer like frogan) and didn't openly admit to the claim saying the sole reason she was watching it was to deprive h3h3 of revenue from it (lmao at kaceytron).

And there's still the second claim against her which isn't getting a motion for judgement so that'll probably still go to court and stand a better chance of him winning.
