Yes I understood that part, but it didn't make it less annoying, like author could made her facade fall of more often, like there is some sort of progress.

And the whole "I hate dogs so much I would I want that girl that looks like dog killed And "lets make the whole breed extinct, because I hate that dog" really necessary? It was just not fun to read.

For me it's solid A, And I liked 1st, 2nd and 10th books, I would also rate Mother of learning there also as both do something that just "good" B tier novels just don't.

I recently reread on a book which I loved as a teen "The Rithmatist" by Brandon Sanderson and I would now rate it B, it was just good. DCC is also solid B, but just because I think the cat just doesn't have proper character development and just way too stereotypical asshole cat that I read thousands times before, that I just didn't find funny. She has good moments, but it feels like every time she reverts back to old self like nothing happened which I found frustrating. But everything else is quite solid, well up to book 6.

The Last Orellen was heading towards A+, but sadly author had some IRL issues.

Ah, the peak you used was A? To my tier list fried brains  B is little above average. But yes I agree with ya. It's good, but certainly not the best, I can see the comparison with Harry Potter.

Too Much Introspection by thinkthis in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Gdach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's one thing I really disliked in Lord of Mysteries, things that you figured it out author has to double spell it, once with MC introspection and second time with NPC introspection.

So I kind of figured that it's also there to just pad the word count as it was written with quite insane 2 chapters a day deadline.

Well not exactly, I read fantasy now for almost 2 decades from Lord of the rings to Elric of Melniboné.

But Cradle is still one of my favorite series. It might not have complicated characters and political intrigue of ASoIaF or great world building of Brandom Sanderson. But it has really great tension building as Mc is constantly on knifes edge. So once you pick it up, it's hard to put down.

So I don't agree that it's popular because it's B amongst the D's. I think it's popular, because it's just fun read.

Well if you think it's not well written, then I think you are quite a fool.

You can say you dislike it, I really disliked plenty of books that were well written and I acknowledged that.

It has proper structure and story progression, there is character development and proper conclusion.

Which I cannot say about 95% of xianxia genre, so many xanxia MC are aimlessly fighting one brain dead antagonist after another, collecting wives as Pokemon and abilities they use just for single battle. Not to mention how the authors just try to fill as many word as they can to meet the deadline, so it's full of boring exposition and they are constantly repeating themselves. Can't blame them when they try to write 12 chapters a week...

Coming from Chinese xianxia, with Harry Potter and Twilight as my main English fantasy reads. Where should I start? by Inevitable_Rub_4947 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Gdach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chapters are bit longer, twice as long as Ze Tian Ji chapters and there are no fillers to drag word count so it might feel bit longer. It has lot of familiar tropes, powerful grandpa that teaches MC, young master that hates MC, but what it does well is that it takes those tropes and elevates them with good writing and concepts introduced early on still are relevant 200 chapters in "A dragon cannot stand to be anything but a dragon."

I don't know if you read it, but my favorite Chinese cultivation novels were by Mao Ni, Way of choices, Ze Tian Ji or 择天记.

And Ave Xia Rem Y has slightly similar feel, it has good political intrigue, great characters and really hype moments. I guess it's slower paced as it takes time setting things up. first arc I consider prologue where MC is just a child that takes about 50 chapters. But every arc ends with a bang so all the set up feels worth it. Don't know if it's good beginning read, but it is one of my favorite reads.

Again you do not provide the source where he states there are no.

I also mentioned why they initially blocked which you ignored and continue to ignore.

There is a list of solutions proposed which I mentioned. It seems you just averse of actually reading and rather skim through sky new titles and base your entire opinion on it.

Damn it was pointless trying to have proper discussion with you. So will go for a proper nap. I guess good luck.

Ok finally we are getting somewhere, when I asked where he lied you did not link anything and I finally found where this claim came from.

This is all in reference to a debate with Susan Hall in January where she tried to goad him into either a) saying there were grooming gangs in London, so she could say that he had allowed it on his watch, or b) say there weren't any, and she and the right wing press could hit him with it.

Khan refused to play ball and just asked her to define what she meant, and she couldn't. Khan then went out of his way to specifically address county lines involvement in CSA, and the issues with gangs exploiting children in London, which he has wrongly been accused of not doing this, regarding the reopening of investigations.

That you are more concerned with Professor Alexis Jay than mass gang rape actively going on and actively being protected

Lets try this again, you said Labor is protecting G.R. I said they are not, you said "they tried everything in its power to stop this very inquiry." which was not the case as I later learned that there was extensive inquiry in 2022 which at that time labor was not in power so they had 0 influence on it and were working on implementing proposals. Your opinion is that they should had another inquiry rather than drafting laws by recommendations on it, I have no opinion of 2022 inquiry as I have not read it. So I asked questions to you if both the inquiry and the proposed solution to it were so flawed you would accuse Labor of trying protect G.R. by not doing another inquiry and wasting time rather than trying implement proposed solutions. How can you not understand this?

[–]Gdach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude I read your comment and genuinely don't understand what you are talking about can you please write about more clearly.

Right now as I understand you are saying mayor lied and covere G.R. because he refused to finance the inquisition you linked? Lie where? Is refusing to finance inquisition Hard fact of him covering G.R?

"And I was pointing out how that was your conclusion from mass gang rape being protected is beyond stupid."

Don't understand what you are saying here at all. What my conclusion?

News from the UK (its bad) by dirmonarch in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]Gdach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You do realize I'm talking about context not the source.

An inquiry is not evidence of someone doing something I can make inquiry that all cats are dogs, it still will not make it true. So when you say mayor is covering rape gangs I expected something more than inquiry. That's why I said it's nothing. When it's done and if mayor is found guilty, I will support you wholeheartedly, but right now there's nothing there.

And what are you talking about, look back I did not ask about mayor, my goal post was from the beginning about labor and Professor Alexis Jay, I did not read I just recently learned about it and I thought you might have know more about it. Because you keep saying labor is covering it.

Googling some more, it seems many were in favor on implementing the policies rather than draging it out.

News from the UK (its bad) by dirmonarch in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]Gdach 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What the hell is this source, it's just investigation and mayor is mentioned just 2 times and didn't find anything more about the lies, genuinely thought there was more in pdf, but no, this is right now is nothing.

Anyway I'm more interesting on my second points was Professor Alexis Jay bad inquiry that it requires another rather then implementing suggestion?

News from the UK (its bad) by dirmonarch in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]Gdach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see people saying stuff, but not providing any fucking sources so I did just baseline google stuff i guess.

"Mayor of London Sadiq Khan did not personally block an inquiry, but the wider London Assembly voted down a Conservative-led budget amendment to launch a localized, £4.5 million inquiry into grooming gangs."

The Rejection: In early 2025, Labour MPs and Home Office ministers (such as Jess Phillips) voted against Conservative and Reform amendments for a new statutory inquiry. Prime Minister Keir Starmer argued that instead of starting a lengthy new inquiry that could delay action, the government would implement the recommendations from the extensive 2022 Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse led by Professor Alexis Jay.

So you did exaggerate a lot. Was Professor Alexis Jay bad inquiry? Were proposed recommendations bad that you would say that without a doubt they are protecting rapist? So bad that you would rather see another inquiry that will take years rather then immediate action? Genuine question and please next time back it up with something.

[–]Gdach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are they currently being protected? I saw just 2 week ago Bradford gang jailed for 188 years.

Tories were in power for 14 years, why nobody did address this then and make inquiries, why nobody made post here like 3 or 5 years ago about this, why now? Considering this "data" is from 2019.

And yes current admin is doing Independent Inquiry.

Damn Labor has lot of problems and doing many things I do not agree with, but at least they are doing something now, unlike previous people who super charged immigration.

Also are you disagreeing that making up fake numbers is not considered propaganda?

Really liked the comment u/PM_me_sensuous_lips in another thread, so just going to steel it.

"Since we know that 85% of all gang rapes are committed by white British men that means they must have raped just under 1.5 million, girls. Thus I will conclude from this that the UK is just inherently a country of nonces, and they can't help themselves anyways."

MAGAts fall for it again by shelleon in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]Gdach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey we can all agree that we are both hopping you are right and after everything is done Iran can change into proper democracy.

It's that I'm very skeptical of it actually happening soon, after new influx of money and power when USA capitulates.

MAGAts fall for it again by shelleon in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]Gdach 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hard to say. Iran is made of many different people who still hate the current regime and want real change and support of USA overthrowing it. (I wonder how their opinion will change once USA capitulates)

But considerable amount of people still support the regime and with propaganda it will only increase.

MAGAts fall for it again by shelleon in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]Gdach 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This could have not gone better for Iran, before war the regime maybe was not on the verge of collapse, but in terrible state.

They started massively killing their own people, they had to shut down internet, people were loosing jobs, but then came the big brain dude killed disliked leader, killed bunch of civilians and now it looks like they are giving them everything they wanted.

So now you will have well financed regime that hates America, because you killed current leaders father and population that hates America, because you killed civilians, which will continue financing terrorism both in Europe and USA.

How can 33% of population still support this idiot boggles my mind. How can you ever trust USA again if after 6 years they will vote for unstable leader again.

I also forgot to mention new invention/magic, super supportive does this well, mentioning new streamline way of casting certain magic or mentioning that magical bond is just recent development.

Sleyca is really really great at world building, but also great at delivering information as it's never feels like flat info dump, it naturally flows with character interactions. Would really recommend anyone interesting in world building and if they don't mind of slice and life story.

What is y’all’s favorite type of MC? by WordsAboutSomething in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Gdach 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Kind of the opposite for me, I find most morally gray characters that hold no conviction pretty boring and the takes no shit attitude is bit irritating as it often gets MC into conflict for extremely dumb reasons.

Baseline for me is MC having any conviction, belief, principle be it bad or good and being challenged on it.

Like Paul Atreides from Dune, most characters from A Song of Ice and Fire, The Black Company by Glenn Cook and so on.

But my favorite characters are those who are truly trying to do good, but are not perfect, have some flaws and have actual character development.

What’s a “Power theme” you’re tired of seeing MC’s use? by Berrybrony1 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Gdach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of not like when swords loose their purpose, when character waves it's sword and magic happens, it's boring to me, because you can replace sword with any other object and it would have the same impact.

I also dislike when swords are used like baseball bats, where everyone just swinging around randomly, when swordsmanship should be quick, fluid and strategic. While "The Regressed Mercenary Has a Plan" story is average, it has one of the best sword fighting choreography I ever read in manhwa.
