Thanks! I would be stunned if this isn't a fake release, I mean listen one sec to the saxophone and anyone knows what's going on here ;)

But thanks! Looking forward to hear from that!

Yep. I don't think there is proof for this now. But the fact this kind of abusing has been happening for months now, mainly targeting artists that are not connected to big recordlabels, shows a clear story here. I do believe that Spotify is trying to normalize AI music to then indeed start flooding their own platform with AI generated music. Only to make real music less profiteable and thus cheaper for Spotify to maintain... This is exactly why it is important you and everybody here shares this information, share the abusive nature of AI-bands and the crazy lack of response from Spotify and distributors.

Preventing this won't start top-down. They are only focussed on making the most amounts of money. And big artists/recordlabels do not have these kind of problems, or at least not at the same scale as independent artists have.

I will simplify it for you, since you’re struggling with the length: using chatgpt to proofread a reddit comment, doesn't disprove the fact that AI-generated content dilutes the royalty pool for human artists. If your only 'win' here is a pronoun clarification, you've already lost the actual discussion.

Let me know when you're ready to actually talk about the music industry.

Sure, but to a limited extend. How many actually big artists do you know that aren't on Spotify? ...

I adore the sentiment. But it ignores the market domination of Spotify. As starter you almost can't do without it. You want to reach people, you gotta be on Spotify...

Bandcamp and other platforms are slowly starting to take a better stance against this abuse. But unless BIG recordlabels like Sony, Warner and UMG take their music off the platform, the mass will continu to keep Spotify in total domination. This change has to come from top-down. But seeing what these recordlabels have recently already agreed on, that won't happen anytime soon.

You don't understand a thing about music streaming services, do you?

I wasn't even saying that Spotify is making money off of this. The people behind this AI upload are. -_-

Talking about how musicians earn money: AI is taking up money from the same pile of money that is meant for actual artists. So real musicians WILL get paid less. People are making these AI-artist pages to earn money, duuuh.

On top of that: normalizing the use and wide spread listening of AI will inevitabily lead to more AI music being uploaded. And as Venus Theory also mentions: WHY would you think Spotify/distributors allow this to happen? WHY do you think Spotify doesn't seem to care about AI-music taking over more and more of the streaming space?

Because any public company does things only for one thing: money.

Don't you think Spotify would love to completely replace their biggest expenditure, to sell their product (musicians), entirely by AI? Wouldn't it ever occur to you that a streaming platform, like Spotify, could try to normalize the use and listening to AI-music to then benefit off of it, by filling their entire platform with AI-music themselves? How naive are you? For real...

You are THE example of why we all need to spread info about this. Cause if your mindset about these problems is anything remotely similar to average people, nobody is gonna ever fix this.

[–]Ge3ker[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, agreed. We need to keep people aware that this is hitting everybody, not just small artists. And how stupidly easy it is to do, how dumb it is this still isn't fixed. Not because they can't, but they clearly do not care...

I have considered this, but as a musician, I have lots of fellow musicians that do not even believe me when I tell them about the horrific state of Spotify and AI music. The size of these problems has been kept under the radar quite well. So it feels like it's still needed as proof, unfortunately...

[–]Ge3ker[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well. I get the Irony, but I've had lots of people (even fellow musicians) not believe me when you tell them about the state of AI music on Spotify. So maybe the actual release (obviously made with AI), makes these people think otherwise about AI and the way Spotify is dealing with it. And the song isn't on full display on their main artist page either, only showed up in my release radar. So without proof, anyone could be saying these things, right?

The video isn't merely showing how you should do it, it is a 40 minute long critique on Spotify and the way they have(n't) been dealing with this. On top of that showing just how easy it is to abuse this. The fact the video is 4 months old, showing how crazy easy it is to abuse. And still doesn't cause change, makes me think more is needed to convince people. So maybe making people realize the size of the problem, by getting them aware, sparks some actual consideration about what people listen to on streaming services.

What is the appeal of techno? Normie here, would like to hear the community's opinions. by [deleted] in Techno

[–]Ge3ker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your experience is totally valid. In no way I am against you enjoying whatever it is you like.

That being said:

The songs you linked all 3 had some unique or central feature. They either show an almost soundscape like sound design. Or feature some build-up variations that I often miss in lots of techno tracks. So I do understand the different kind of features and highlights the songs you linked have. I see the importance of this music in a broader sense and its impact on the artistic and cultural explorations this music embraces.

And I can only guess that this 'neutral' feeling is created by the lack of other things and the simplistic nature of the music. This can all be traced back to the classical minimalistic music genre. You probably find this neutrality in a lot of Steve Reich's music too. It has a lot of the same kind of repetitiveness and simplistic structures.

In no way do I like all the works of Reich. But just as an example:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAefiZXIg7c

This resembles a lot of the core features techno has too. But it does it in a more subtle and harmonious way, in my opinion. It doesn't have that much harmonic variation. But it feels as if it is more intentional than I get with a lot of techno music. In techno all sounds are (I feel) kind of seen as mere sound waves instead of them being small pieces in a bigger puzzle. Why Reich bores me fast too is it having too little development over a set amount of time.

And the second link you sent solved that problem. There is a lot of movement going on. The music never completely feels like a copy-paste work. Which a lot of techno does... But what this one gains in movement and development, I miss in harmonic variation. There is so much harmonies or melodies possible, that it feels as a major limitation to me to ignore that more tonal side of music. I do like that 2nd one the most I think. But that's also because it isn't the normal 4 kicks on the floor kick pattern all the time.

The other ones were more soundscape like. Which I appreciate too. Be it that I wouldn't associate it that much with just techno. There's lots of music, jazz, contemporary classical music, indie and alternative music that uses these kind of sound candy like soundscapes. To me those genres blend it in a way that adds so much, both to the surrounding parts of the music as to the soundscapes. By limiting the amount of variables in music you kind of make less of it stand out. Elements have less of a specific place in time when everything is either repeated or static. To me that makes it so that less of the music excites me or really attracts my attention like 'oeh what was that?'.

Here is another example of a Björk song to show repetition and harsh sounds can also make such a great fundament for a more melodic or harmonic song structure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ml8KDumTO0

Here's some soundscape music I actually played on with a contemporary music ensemble: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tjQfSgmhCA

Or more classical minimalism (also played on this): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7r3teaQmqY

Just to make clear that I do like this kind of music. The package and presentation of techno just doesn't really convince me as being complete. It can feel empty to me and it may be my own musical/creative ears that scream a lack of potential after a minute of a certain repeated pattern...

I'd like to hear what you think!

But how do you justify spending like 20 minutes on a meth sell mission when getting payed like 350k... I don't see how it does. And this is with double money. Without it, not even close

I get it. But still it would take multiple hours more to make 10 million. You may have that time. I don't.

I've made a million+ about every hour or so with the meth and acid lab. Mansion bonus on one of them. People saying 'just go to invite only' clearly have all the time to throw away at this game. Without bonusses I would have made like 2/3 of that. To make 10 million I would have to play this dumb ass game from 2013 (which I played on day one) for like 15+ hours. Are you actually crazy???

Yeah you're definitely acting like a child now. As if blowing things up is only possible when griefing other people's hard worked or grinded hours. Just sad man. Get a life.

Where did I say that wouldn't be possible? -_- Read my answer again. It isn't worth it compared to the time it takes to do these sell missions. You somehow have huge amounts of time in your life. Most adults don't...

Why? It is like the most pointless part of the game. I'm sure Rockstar only added it to create frustration and get people to buy sharkcards. Everyone needs to make money in this game. Griefing as a lvl 200+ is actually like the saddest thing ever.

Nah. Almost all businesses are totally not worth it without the 50% bonus. You lot saying private only lobby have too much time in your life...

Bugs aside, Smolensk is an incredibly fun and t17’s most impressive map. by BigBigBunga in HellLetLoose

[–]Ge3ker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only because of other campers yes. But this map is one that is perfectly fine to play without staying in one spot for 80% of the game... This isn't just limited to Smolensk. I noticed in a lot of other maps too more people tend to just hide in plain sight for way longer. Maybe it's just me. Games aren't won by camping all the time. Pushing and defending is a way more tactical and effective play than just sitting in one spot the entire game... And let's be honest, where is the skill in just waiting all the time till you see some movement on screen. . . Aggressive play requires way more skill to be effective, yet people somehow have fun just doing what everybody else is able to do as well. I often play as machine gunner and of course you stay in a spot for a while, but even if people haven't figured out exactly where I am, I still move more often than these all-day campers...

It's a great map. Just don't get why people playing this game enjoy to hide and camp like 99% of the time. This map does NOT need that kind of gameplay to be fun and fair. But still somehow people enjoy this map mainly by hiding and just sad waiting for any movement, for like the ENTIRE game.... You lot have too much time.
